Dismal app. The relationship between leap cards and bank cards is tenuous at best. It would be much easier to have an "account" set up with various payment options in it. Like with all other apps. Instead, we must set up specific payment methods per leap card, with its own pin. Honestly, it's 2022. Then again, I also can't seem to bring up the keyboard to set pins, so keep having to enter card details manually. Very frustrating.

This is actually worse than a non-functional app. I know I can top up my card, but sometimes it take more time than walking to the nearest shop. Every time is frustrating, I have to try 10-15 times. 2FA is not implemented correctly, so I have to top up my Revolut card first. For some reason, only that works. Than I have to be careful a quick with the approval. And lucky. If I am, than I can hold the card still and switch back to this app before it drops the connection with the card.

App no longer reads my cards with NFC - seems it has barely been updated in years. Can't top up or check credit at all now. Reading other reviews, it seems like even if it had read my card, I probably wouldn't have been able to top up due to SCA. It's an absolute embarrassing travesty of an app for Ireland's NTA. The whole leap card system should be scrapped, and start over with something that actually works, allows for online top ups (without having to go to a shop), and accepts bank cards in buses.

Top-up UX is broken. If you choose to save payment details it asks for a pin to secure them but then it doesn't let you input the pin at all. No keyboard appears. Also, when you go with one-time payment (no det. saved) I am able to input all the data but 1/2 the payment fails. My bank has MFA and so I have to confirm the payment from its app. When I come back to the Leap Top-Up all the payment procedure going on has disappeared. I have to start over and hope that second time it will go fine.

need a bug fix. The App hasn't been functional for a while now. I want to save my card details so it's easier and faster to top up. When it tells me to create a passcode to protect my card it doesn't let me type. Pls work on a patch to fix this. Haven't been able to save my card details for over a month because of it. It's inconvenient and a shame because i loved this App for years when it actually worked.

Absolute shambles of an app. In desperate need of an update. Incredibly outdated and terrible UI and UX. Payment system doesn't work the vast majority of times. The circle selection for top-up value is woeful. The adding a passcode feature simply doesn't function as no input appears. Seriously disappointing.

Whenever I try to top up Im be given the option to spin the dial around to choose how much I top up by but the actual amount is not displayed in the centre like it's supposed to. It's just blank. Every time I top I have no clue how much I'm actually paying until I scan again and see my updated balance. I have tried installing and uninstalling the app multiple times but problem persists. Completely unusable

Barely works, and almost never on mobile data. If you are connected to a very good WiFi network maybe you are lucky and it works as expected. The app reads the card without problem, but then start to transfer data (how much data an app like this need to use!!!?) and most of the times, after long waiting, it says that something went wrong ...

Great when it works! Otherwise good luck. Very unpredictable app. When I top up my leap card and tap to collect, sometimes nothing goes through. I need to make sure payment hasn't gone through on my bank account and start the whole process again. Tapping the card works half the time. I can sometimes try top-upping for 20 minutes to no avail. It's a very poor user experience.

The app is stoping its actions, shutting down randomly and it happened a few times that is charging money from the bank account for top up but never passes it onto a card. Honestly it's a waste of time, it's only annoying. I was hoping that it will help me because I live far from any shop to put credit on my leap card, however, I prefer to look for a shop then use the app again.

Edit: all well and good now. No issues so far. This is a good app. Used to work fine on my Samsung Galaxy initially with crashes after top up. The crashes stopped after an update. Now I'm on a One Plus 7T, the app does not recognize the card even after restarting and switching off and on NFC. I would change the number of stars from 2 to 5 if you provide a fix.

If you're going to remove the ability to open the app automatically by scanning the card at least leave an option in the settings for me to change it back. I enjoyed being able to update my card in about 1 minute. Now I have to explicitly find the app everytime. It might not seem like much but when I'm looking to top up before getting on the bus/luas it's a big annoyance

Whether the app fails to detect my card or doesn't completely connect to it, the app is consistently inconsistent. It fails at it's job half the time and drives me mad all the time. It's buggy too and crashes occasionally. Honestly the amount of times I've been unable to top up and had to walk home instead of taking the bus is too damn high. I hope it gets better, good public transport services are important to a lot of people.

An absolute shambles, one of the worst apps ever seen on the Play Store. It works maybe 1 in 30 times. My card and my phone's NFC work properly everywhere else. It's much quicker and easier to go to a shop and top up there. An utterly appalling app, it's a mystery how anyone thought this was fit for release. Everyone involved should be thoroughly ashamed.

Handy when it works. The trouble is in the outrageous regularity with which it stops functioning. Particularly frustrating given how good it could be if only it did what it says on the can. Please fix bugs- for months now I can only check my balance. The top up function just stalls each time I use it, no matter how many times I've re installed & re booted.

Solution: Getting the card to actually read was like a lottery win with newer devices. I've noticed that the card reader doesn't work if you're on Mobile Data (which most people on-the-go would be). But works ok over wifi. Can't imagine it's an intentional design feature - always worked fine on my last device data or wifi or whatever. Hope this helps some others with the same issue.

Unreliable application, poor UX. *When* it works it's convenient but it's "something is better than nothing". No longer working on EMUI 9.1.0 (Huawei P20 Pro), can't read known working cards that have been tested elsewhere. Recommendations: trim all fat off the application, have a simple *working* application that can be kept up to date. I don't need a wheel to select the amount I want to top up by, a field or radio buttons would do

Dar. K. Sep 20, 2018

So frustrating! Constantly returns an error message that it can't read your card and something went wrong only to sporadically work again at the 53rd time or trying. No rhyme or reason. On the last such occasion when I was trying to top up my leap card before my bus arrived (but ultimately failed for the aforementioned reason and couldn't get on the bus) I uninstalled the app. Could and should be so much better.

Nia. H. Aug 9, 2020

It frequently need to be uninstalled and reinstalled because it doesnt respond to the NFC reader, which is working. Then it will randomly not save card details or gets the okay from the bank and then doesnt top up the phone and there is no way to contact for help on the app. Waiting to see now has it actually taken 20 euro from my bank without topping up the card. This has happened in the past and I never received a refund so I'll be livid if it happens again.

Fin. S. Jul 27, 2021

Whenever I attempt to top up my leap card, the app charges me, but i receive no credit. If I try again a second time, it works, but I am still charged both times, effectively paying double the price for my credit. I've had to resort to this multiple times due to being in a hurry and it's unfair that I should have to be charged twice the amount due to this bug.

Pau. B. May 2, 2022

Decent enough but it's got a major glitch. You try and save your debit card details and the first thing it asks is to set a pin code. But the keyboard won't pop up. It's been this way since I downloaded the all 6 months ago. Makes it really awkward topping up last minute/on-the-go

Mon. G. Mar 15, 2022

Update: Unable to save a payment method. Please update this app. Not easy to get the card recognized by the app (I had 2 different cards). Had to uninstall and install again several times. Very annoying when you need a quick top up on the go. Funny thing is that when I accidentally touch my work badge the app responds imediatelly.

Ray. S. Oct 10, 2018

Uninstalled the app because "something went wrong" and asked to close the app and try again. I did, repeatedly, and it didn't. Couldn't see credit or make top ups. So I uninstalled the app and then installed it again. And it worked. I can see credit and top up once more. Jury's out until we see how it gets on.

Nia. K. Nov 12, 2021

App logs out of the scanned card every time there is a screen change on your phone, which makes authorising the transaction through a banking app impossible. The only work around I've found to open the leap app in split screen mode so the banking app can be opened in the other half of the screen. Needlessly fiddly and not a reasonable expectation to place on users (and not even possible for many people)

Eoi. M. Dec 16, 2021

Doesn't work. The card is never picked up by NFC. Never. There is no alternative way to add a card to the app either. All while NFC works fine with other apps fine and all apps like banking apps have no complaints with the android device I have either. So it's really a problem with the app.

Mic. S. Oct 11, 2018

Extremely buggy, constant crashes, throws up error messages more often than it works. The times it does work it's a great, but lately I find myself more and more having to run to the machine in the station to top up due to the apps refusal to work
