My son first started playing this game when he was almost 3 on the Epic. He was having trouble recognizing colors and had a hard time understanding the concept of patterns & shapes. Until we were introduced tot his game. The Learning Path is easy for him to navigate, he absolutely loves the games, & he now (at 4) can easily recognize all his colors, shapes, patterns, and numbers. He's still having trouble with letter but is getting better with every lesson. To me, its worth every penny!
I wanted so bad to love this app. My daughter really likes the games & I see the value of the educational content. But. It freezes up all the time. It disconnects constantly, knocking me off into offline mode. Finally, though it tells me what my child has worked on, it doesnt tell me how she did during those activities and allows her to exit out of them before completion. I think the premise is very good, but the technical issues are a deal breaker.
I would give this 5 stars because I really like the learning programs that are on it however ,it kept freezing and I had only installed it within 20 minutes of my son playing it. I don't like the fact that it kept restarting the game and if they fix the bugs I feel like it would be a great program for a little children to learn on but other than that as of now I would not recommend this app.
Loved it when it worked the first 2 days. I bought an epic tablet for my daughter hoping she would like it and practice her letters and numbers and such on it which she can. Unfortunately on the 3rd day after less than 2.5 hours (total) it got buggy and it is no longer playable. I get a blue screen. I attempted to download the app on to my phone but it keeps telling me there is an error. I've done all the troubleshooting for the tablet, it just stopped working. I tried calling support but they don't work on weekends. I've emailed, but again, I guess they don't work weekends. I'm anticipating that I'll adjust my review rating once /if it starts working again, however, I'm very disappointed that I purchased a tablet specifically for this app and it already has problems 3 days in. Also that you pay a monthly fee makes me wonder if it's going to be worth it if it doesn't work for days at a time.
A trial is not an option. I installed, opened, and was given the option to pay $10 for a month, $50 for 6 months, or $90 for 12 months. The vast majority of children's learning apps provide either limited use, or a trial. Either is great as they remove the uncertainty of buying blindly.
This is a horrible app. Within the first 5 minutes of downloading the app it had to be restarted just to get it to open. Once opened, the game froze after the first activity. I had to restart the app twice and after that the app began acting like a virus. My phone completely locked up and the screen went black. I had to restart my phone and then I uninstalled the app. This was all within 15 minutes of the initial download. I would rate zero stars, but that's not an option.
I know why it's in PlayStore 'games'. About 80% gaming, 20% learning. So much loud distracting music makes the experience unbearable. Literally EVERYTHING is a game! But graphics are fun and nice. There is no initial evaluation test to place your kid at the right level. Sometimes I couldn't hear the narration over the music. The separate section of Games/Puzzles etc is NOT synced to your kids level.
The app keeps freezing after I su scribed to the app. I had to reinstall the app but it still is freezing up and all that shows is a black screen. I am frustrated because I paid the monthly fee for a subscription thinking this would be a great learning tool for my daughter. But it won't load at all. I am very disappointed and need to know how to cancel my subscription.
My 5 yr old son loves this app! He starts kindergarten in the fall & I thought this would help him with both learning to use a tablet & with things he may not have learned in pre-k. I've sat with him for a few lessons & there's definitely things he didn't learn previously. We're 3 "adventures" away from starting the kindergarten series & he's excited every time! He loves getting the collection pieces as a reward, but was a little disappointed he couldn't use it with his character.
The games are awesome teachers for a good learning foundation. Cost covers all my kids without a purchase for each. All items are age specific. It has a parent dashboard that let's me see how each child is doing as far as strengths and weakness. I also like that it recommends which game or activity would help strengthen a weakness.
Signed up today and I'm so unhappy with this. It was not loading on the tablet, just kept hanging the first activity we tried. We decided to try the website instead. He got through one activity, then whenever we clicked another, it would just kick us back to the homepage. We cleared cache and tried again, but that didn't help. Restarted the computer, same problem. Eventually my kid was so frustrated he asked to watch a movie instead. Worse than a Beta, not worth paying for.
My daughter was not quite half way done with her lesson plan when the app froze. Upon restarting, her progress was about 90% done which made all of the activities next to impossible for her. I can't find any way to move her back without starting over. I won't continue to support an application with no real structure.
I never even authorized this subscription on my son's tablet but it's here, which is very odd because I have parental controls on it where he's unable to purchase anything without my password. I'm positively certain that he doesn't know it. I go to cancel the subscription and it doesn't even show up under Manage Subscriptions. I just realized they took money out for 2 months so far and I had no idea! The payment is identical to his noggin subscription so I paid it no mind at first. I'm upset!!!
Dazzling extremes you are so wrong to give a one star simply because you did noted take the time to read the info on the app. click read more and you will see it clearly explains all of the different subscription options along with the 30 day free trial. It really irks when people are quick to leave a bad review without doing homework.
Incredibly Disappointed. We love LeapFrog & have wanted to try Academy for awhile. Signed up 4 the free trial & the app has no sound. Did trouble shooting, tried email support. Called and talked to a live person that just kept reading from a script card. Asked for a supervisor and supervisor refused to talk to me! Said they would send my problem somewhere else and I would get an email in 24hrs. Its been a month. My trial is up and we never even got to try it. Def wont be paying for it! Very Sad.
We loved Leap Frog Academy! My child enjoyed the videos and music. He even liked the books! It's like a virtual a video game with educational material and levels. Better than ABC Mouse in some ways. The app does reset sometimes and start you completely over unlike ABC Mouse.
I just signed up but it's not working.i can't get into the game to start it.it says the first step is signing up and then the next step is creating a profile for your child. all it's doing is taking me right back to signing up page but tells me I'm signed up already to enter my password I do and then it does it all over again. For 7.99 a month and being leap frog I expected more. Please fix!!
Poor customer service, i want to cancel my account but I can't open the app because it wants to update and I don't have the storage space to do so. I have contacted the company who told me to open the app and cancel my account which I told them I can't do because the app isn't working due to the download issue, so they hadn't listened to my problem and fobbed me off with an automated response.
1- you should have an easier way that parent can send you messages during certain activities so you can improve or change some concepts. 2- not all the kids see the images or games the same way so you must have a way to collect data for improvement. 3- I believe this game is designed for a specific mind set and if your kids dont match that mind set you are losing money.
only had it for a day and it keeps saying that it loses internet connection. After restart of the app with will not load up to the next objective. There are to many bugs that need to be worked out for this app.
Just signed up today and will definitely be cancelling! We've always like leapfrog products, but this is not one of them. On 2020 model samsung galaxy tab a (tablet) the app is constantly freezing and is super frustrating for child. This is a paid product, unacceptable quality. Too bad, because I'm willing to pay for quality edu products as a homeschooler. Signed up for their 2-month free trial, thankfully have not actually paid yet or it would probably be a fight to get my money back.
Does not work with Galaxy Tab A (SM-T510). We bought a brand NEW Tablet A and found out it's not compatible. We have issues with some of the parts of the app and have to constantly change to a different device. The app just starts to flicker and it's not possible to play.
My toddler loves the activities. He eager for each lesson. The lessons are easy to follow. I love the variety and interaction. Best preschool app ever!
I would give it a better review but since the newest update, April 2021, it won't work. I click on the app and it opens for about 5 seconds and then closes. My son can't play it now. Please fix the issue.
I loved this app, great for the kids. you can track their progress. The primary issues is not all the activities are downloaded to the tablet. So when you're on the go its a real bummer
Some of the games can't be played, the screen blinks real bad every time you touch it. My tablet is brand new & it doesn't happen with my other apps. It's a bummer when my 5yo is trying to learn.
It's an overall really good app but latest updates have been breaking it constantly. The latest one made it impossible to print the Printables. I'll update the review when it gets updated to fix that
I would give it more stars. But since the new up date I can't get in. I have uninstall the app 3 different times and installed it to see if it would work and nothing. Please fix this issue.
great content, but continually gets logged off and goes offline, happens the same way on iOS as well, so it's definitely a leapfrog thing.
We are enjoying it, but the expense it higher than we will continue to support. We've had it for two months, and with all the other options, my kids pick this app maybe 10% of the time. It's just not worth the subscription fee. They pick Starfall as often, if not more, and it's $35/annual, more accessible as far as activity selection, and just as effective educationally. Leappad has the fun map interface, but otherwise, Starfall is superior.
