24/12/19 : I can't see the full suggested answers to the questions in the Text part, which sometimes starts with the same words so I don't have any other choice than answering randomly. 05/12/19 : Perfect. However, I think some lessons contain too much new grammatical content.
I have used (and still use) Duolingo, Drops, and skritter for Chinese practice, and I've tried a few other apps as well. This one is hands down the best so far. I had a brief moment of confusion about the interface but since then it has given me exactly the level of challenge that I need to feel like I'm learning but not overwhelmed.
This is a wonderful app. I love how there is an option to gather coins through doing the lessons and spend them to get the premium feature if you are not able to buy it. I like how it gives pictures, stories, and lots of examples. Vocab is repeatedly shown and reinforced. The voice recognition is also quite exceptional. My only suggestion is that maybe the app could add more training for writing the characters. Other than that, I can't wait until they come out with the next levels!
Really like the lessons. They make you think rather than memorize. When you make a mistake it is easy to figure out why & learn from it. 4 stars is because the interface still needs work, but this is probably one of the most useful Chinese learning apps out there. I have used many of them & been studying more than a year. Update: Still really enjoying this app. 1 issue I have is the test timer. I would love so see it removed or extend by 10 seconds. It's too short for long reading questions.
It's the best language app I've used outside of Dulingo. Lessons are small enough to be done during a lunch break, but are cumulative, and by building off each other they help you pick up the language. The images are cute, and the example sentences have a good range of complexity. I've only used this for a month, so no, I don't know Chinese, but I can recognize a few characters and the AI that analyzes your tones is really useful to improve pronunciation.
I have been trying out several language learning apps and this is my favourite so far. However, I can't give it five stars because the audio volume varies greatly sometimes and there are exercises where no translation is shown at the end even if they contain words I haven't learned yet. I don't mind having to guess during the exercise, but afterwards I would like to at least find out what that meant! Other than that it's great.
Nice app design but it won't let me skip past Level 6. I completed the test at the end with 2 stars (because my mic wasn't working properly), and then I tried again and got 4 stars. But it only saved the 2 stars result and won't let me skip to level 7. I don't want to do all the level 6 content because I know it already and it would be wasting my time.
Been using this app for 4 months now. Paid for the 1 year subscription. It's gotten even better with the recent update. I'm also currently having 1:1 lessons that the app offers as an extra. I really like my tutor and I feel this is really helping me. Also loved that I didn't have to start at the beginning as I already had a small understanding of Chinese. My only suggestion would be to have more ways to review learned words. (Besides the flashcards) but those are still useful. Thanks!
ignore the slightly clunky interface. this is the best Chinese language app, or any language app, I've ever found. The variety of tasks and material is great. It will score your speech accuracy, show you animated conversations, and more. the difficulty progression works well, with more types of tasks as you advance. Worth the paid tier.
Definitely improving my beginner vocabulary and providing a reliable building block for wider study. I would like more tests based on recognizing Mandarin characters by ear and not so reliant on pinyin. Perhaps this will come later in the process. Despite contention surrounding the voice recognition feature, I've found it pretty good. The more I practice my tones it seems to correlate with higher scores on my speech tests.
Edit: Can't access level L2-4... Says, "Review Mistakes to continue", but I did all the reviews, I have no weak words & all previous lessons are 100% correct. I sent a message in the feedback section and I've updated to the latest version. The app gives 0 explanation of what mistakes to review or how to do so. Edit: Contacted support, it seems you require a paid account to learn anything past Level 2-lesson 3; which is extremely basic Chinese. Can't recommend unless you're an absolute beginner.
Noticed this app the first time it released, but still hesitated to download and use it. Right now, I'm totally surprised at how the app improved a lot after two years, from graphics to lessons, all of them were well built. Except for one thing, the voice, which guide us to pronounce initial consonant, makes me a bit confused when they pronounce almost the same: s,c,x,...q,j. ??? I can't tell which is which. Well, overall, I still highly recommend this app ๐๐
It crashes after a few seconds in the app. It was fine during the leveling test, but I didn't get to even open a lesson with it after that.
this apps is the best for me, i like this because it was able to use for review some of them on offline mode. although dislike some other things, example too much repeating word like(wo, ni, da, da men, mama, xue xiao, xuesheng, etc)..
Such a good app, i don't need to buy plus as long as i can save more coins and i can have a free plus . although its limited, it was really helpful and good. :)))
I have been a user for 2 years now. My next subscription is not dued until May 2022. The app is now asking me for payment again and not allowing me to proceed with my learning lessons. Why is the app behaving this way and I have no way to simply continue with my lessons or contact someone!! The app is also always constantly asking constantly asking for new subscription trying to maximise revenue. Please reply.
Engaging app. Been learning for a while and didn't find it too easy. So far it's well structured and would recommend it for a good introduction to chinese
The app is great for learning Chinese. The only shortcoming is the long waiting time on new content, if it was released sooner - definitely would give 5 stars.
Great experience using this app to learn Mandarin! The app is very intuitive and uses different teaching techniques to encourage your learning (visual/audio/kinestetic). The animations on the app are also super cool and they way the app helps you to progress at your own level/pace is really helpful. Overall an genius app that makes learning Mandarin fun and enjoyable!
Legit one of the better chinese learning apps out there! If you are serious about learning chinese, this app really helps. The translations are on point and there are easy to understand explanations.๐๐
The app is interactive. Helpful for practicing reading, speaking and listening.
This app doesn't work well in China. It used to be good, but for some reason, since updating, it insists on connecting to the internet and then crashes. I don't see why it needs to connect to the internet.
This is a great app to learn Chinese! I tried a lot and this is one of the best. But 1) the 'put in the right order the characters' exercise is difficult to read because of a black text over a dark grey cell 2) I use the app in the train. I can't do speaking exercises. This lower down my accuracy rate. It would be great to have an option in the settings to skip the speaking parts. 3) ไผ means 'can' in English but the picture associated with ไผ is a car (mistake between car and can?). Thank you !
