Learn Chinese - HelloChinese

Great app, well organized, not pushy about expensive upgrades (but still, those are pretty good), with a nice "practice what you learned" feature. One bad point I discovered after 5 month of daily use: some courses are sloppy, with some questions reappearing twice (yes I didn't make any mistake the first time), a single word for an entire course or a misleading title like "Pet" where you'll learn emotions. Still my best friend to learn Chinese

Very neurolinguistically correct, organically designed to make you learn and remember through bite-sized spaced repetition of reading, listening, writing and speaking exercises. Useful vocabulary and grammar, interesting and fun teacher speeches and overall very sleek and user-friendly interface. I subscribed to the Premium+ offer and it was worth every penny, I'm progressing so fast!!

fantastic app. The app make it easy to learn Chinese. if you only have 5 minutes or 30 minutes it doesn't matter, this app will let your learn. it's too bad the paid version doesn't bring more. I tried it just to give money to the creators as I love their app but to be honest there not much advantage of the premium one. I finished the app and now I am able to have small conversations 😁

I've never ever rated any app but for the time i've been using, I've never been disappointed. The grammar lessons are very clear and the new Chinese lessons are well made. The Chinese speaker is spelling so nicely and there are more and more sequences with local people. Love it so far, thanks guys !

Good app. However, as you progress I feel like a further explanation or breakdown of the characters (what characters that make it up, etc) could be beneficial in recognition. The old course had a bit of that, but was insufficient. The new course has pictograms with varying effectiveness, the more complicated the character the more the pictograms fall short. Something that would promote reading and recognition, rather then route memorization. Also it would be nice if we can copy words from app

this app is really good especially in correcting beginner's pronunciation like mine. I struggle a lot in the tone but this app helps. The UI is great, the lessons are fun and yet effective. It teaches only traditional characters. It involves listening, reading, speaking and even writing the traditional characters. this is definitely the best.

There are some issues when dark mode is enabled. For example in review section check button is not displayed properly. Please in setting set an option to select how many words is going to be reviewed per each review session. Because when someone is away for a long time and come back to review, the review session is so so long. Dividing sessions will help. In general the app is so cool and helpful but very expensive.

I have tried many apps for learning chinese. Without doubt, this is the best. I use it every day without fail. The example sentences are useful, and the listening, reading, writing and speaking exercises are well balanced throughout. The course is complete and takes you up to HSK 4. It would be nice to see HSK 5 and 6 added, but I know this would be a lot of content.

So far it seems pretty interesting. It's eye candy enough. The native speakers clips are a nice touch. The explanation of characters composition sure helps. Also there are a lot of lessons apparently. The spoken practice works quite well compared to other apps I tried that were a pain. In this one The mic recognizes almost whispering voice. I like this app

Much, much better than the Duolingo course and almost perfect when paired with Anki flashcards. Voices are great at making the tones sound clear and aren't robotic. There's variation as well so people talking slow or talking normally which I really like. There's writing practice, listening, reading, and speaking. Would love the option to turn off the ping ying to just read the characters. Wish traditional characters were offered.

Awesome app! I have been using it for almost two years now. This app by itself, without any other help, got me from literal zero to intermediate level. But the most importantly, it gave me solid foundations in vocabulary, grammar, listening, reading, writing and even speaking! If you are making your first steps, don't even think about it! If you are already at a good level, it could supplement your study with grammar or writing skills for example. I can not thank you enough Hello Chinese team!

I'm so glad I stumbled upon this wonderful high quality and helpful app. So far it's proving superior to Duolingo. I use both now. Thank you. It's really fun. I love the cultural insights, role play conversations and authentic native speakers. Such a great tool. Easy to navigate and there's no tedious and annoying ads. Keep up the fantastic work with this great resource.

Best language app I've ever used. Much better than Duolingo in my personal opinion. SO much better than the "official" HSK apps. This is playing a central role in my learning Mandarin (self-study). They teach grammar (which is essential!) in addition to the vocab, introducing all in an easy to grasp, logical order. Mandarin is quite hard to find good material for, so get this app & you'll soon be making great progress!

Still 5 stars!! The new improvements have a better syllabus order, and this app covers all the bases, from pronunciation, character writing, grammar, flash cards, listening to native speakers, to reading comprehension. I've been to chinese school as a kid, and a study trip to Taiwan, and I've learned more chinese language in this app. Maybe I'm motivated more because of the availability of c-drama!!

You don't need to pay to get access to the lessons themselves, and it'll take you through pinyin, basic pronunciation, and the beginnings of learning hanzi. There's videos with native speakers to improve your listening skills. If you've struggled as a beginner using Duolingo, this is a much better option. The only caveats are that the course uses a Beijing accent (so if your target accent is different you may pick it up accidentally) and it only goes through about HSK 2.

I actually really enjoy this app a lot. I've tried numerous language apps, like Duolingo, Fluent Forever, etc., and none have been able to keep my interest for long. This one is really captivating and I feel like I'm retaining a lot more. I specifically appreciate the dialogue options and the speech functions. It makes us use the language rather than just relying on easy memorization. I highly recommend this app!

So much better than any Learning tool ai have ever used! The app is very well refined for the Chinese language on the listening, speaking and writing front. It accomplishes this with slow incrementaly harder lessons that get explained very well. Combine this app with actual usage of the language and you are bound to learn Chinese!

I like it more than duo because i can turn characters off and just do pinyin. This saves me a lot of effort because I only want to learn spoken Chinese at this time and will turn characters back on once i am more familiar. I am also pleased by the lack of ads. Great app!

I tried another popular app for learning languages (you know which one I'm referring to) and it just doesn't compare to this one regarding Mandarin. It's so much better, you really shouldn't waste time with the owl and get this one instead. It actually explains things to you and it's not just mindless word guessing.
