The lessons are well set out and easy to follow, with good, regular review of characters and ability to go back and redo things for practice. The written grammar lessons are very easy to understand and extremely useful, and have helped me get the hang of grammar concepts I'd previously been struggling with.
The service itself is great. It has one of the most comprehensive Mandarin courses, going up nearly all the way to HSK6. The app itself however is very poor, hence my 3 star rating. It is not a real app but rather just the website re-packaged as an app. It is very resource intensive, causing my (high end) phone to get very hot. It also seems to have a memory leak as it starts slowing down after a moderate amount of usage until restarted.
Awesome! The best thing is that you can use it on the PC as well, through the website. Thanks to this, I can fill all my free-time gaps learning Chinese now. The dictionary is particularly good for checking how certain characters are written. The exercises are simple and engaging, I love those ones where you have to rearrange sentences, building sentences block by block really helps you understand the Chinese sentence logic. They don't just teach individual words like other apps. Recommended!
I love this app. I would give up on learning Chinese if it wasn't for this app. It turns learning into an addictive game, where I get excited about unlocking new levels and learning more words. It coveres all areas of learning: grammar, vocabularly, speaking and listening. Also, I would like to add that creators are very helpful. whenever I have a question, they really take time to answer in a great detail. Really brilliant up. cant recomend it highly enough.
I uninstalled this months ago, but now reinstalled it and I must say this the best app to learn characters and even the meaning. The one flaw is that it gives the sound of the answer after you complete it, it should make the sound when it's represented to best familiarize the character, sound, and meaning connection! giving the sound once completed and playing it with the next character is silly
This app is amazing for learning mandarin. I self taught using it and all of my Chinese friends were impressed. I always get compliments and can function in Chinese society. I would give it 500 stars if I could. ALTHOUGH recently I've not been able to open it and I don't know what's going on. I don't want to delete it and lose my progress if I can avoid it...
I just gave this an honest try. And gave them a bunch of feedback. The artwork is great... 5 stars for that... but -3 stars for the app interface, and its mixed up presentation, uneeded linking to external material, tedious repetition, and use of advanced vocabulary in dialogues using child-level cartoons. And the suggestion of a monthly subscription to use more of this is ridiculous. There are better other apps covering the exact same material. And NOT the way to start with Chinese!
This has far more in it than you may ever need! Great app for learning Mandarin at any level. I've found that the exercises do help with remembering vocabulary and it's all presented in a way that's easy to digest. Challenges are also fun! Come learn so we can challenge each other. ;D
Great app. Nice blend of in-depth explanations, rote learning made fun with level ups, and slightly silly yet strangely compelling storyline. It would be nice to have a little more etymology (e.g. links to oracle bone / bronze / seal characters to trace evolution, and better analysis of pictograms and ideograms) in the in-depth sections for each character, but otherwise this is the perfect mandarin learning app!
Response: I'm just reporting my user experience. Having to type hsk 1/2 pinyin 20 or so times (correctly) in the HSK 3 section can get tiresome/time-consuming although I understand the purpose of it. I was under the impression each stage corresponded to the respective HSK level more closely. There is still a commendable amount of content and is worth using, I would give a 4 or 5 if there were more sentences to build and a human voice. The auto voice feels fast and 'copy/pasted' with no space.
The app has helped me quite a lot so far and is fun to use! My only "complain" is the lack of offline content. nevertheless, I sent this feedback through the in-app comments and they replied really quickly and friendly that they're working on it. Hope it arrives soon! The order of the lessons is also sometimes not optimal in my opinion, but nothing too serious :)
A really fun app. I have the free version and even that is completely amazing. It helps me practice vocabulary, grammar and speaking in a very fun way. The vocabulary is much more extensive than in other free apps I had found. I would highly recommend and I'm actually considering getting the paid version
This app is cute and helpful. BUT I'm already stuck. I cant figure out how to say "nice to meet you" because the spoken language is at what I assume is native speed and no matter how many times I hit repeat... I cant say it all. I need a slow down or break down button. I will supplement this good program with a secondary program.
We live in China and this is the first method I've found that all of us, parents and kids alike, can do consistently without stopping. The language and grammar and situations are so real to life in China, and the grammar lessons are so well written. It's best for kids who have a good foundation in english spelling already, and will also help reinforce English spelling and typing (the app is good but PC is great for faster typing). This is absolutely the best Chinese learning program out there.
That app is great and was working very well with me until on my last few days it stopped working and my phone (samsung A72) says that this app contains a bug and won't let me use it i uninstalled it then install it again and still no working , please fix this
After trying several apps for learning Mandarin, I finally found this one - it sits well with my learning style and when I had a problem, the team was super attentive and quick to respond. Thank you!
First of all, I've been using Nincha for years. When I dedicate myself and actually apply myself to the app, I make leaps and bounds. Nincha makes it fun and easy to learn one of the world's hardest languages. I'm just horrible at dedicating myself. This is the best thing ever. I've tried learning other languages before and I can't. I want this in more languages but focusing all the effort on Chinese means its mostly flawless compared to the competition. Plus, customer service and the devs care.
It seems like no effort is being made for this app, has been broken since early December. Dev says use the web app. Well, no. Understand you don't *have* to do anything to fix it, but I don't *have* to want to use a web app, you are alienating this user base, I don't know, maybe you can afford that, cool. I'll spend with another Dev, too bad, app seemed pretty well done, and I came to it from a third party reviewer, too bad it's just a home screen icon.
Ninchanese is an excellent Chinese learning app. It's full of content to learn using gamification which makes it fun. It's never overwhelming. Also the customer care is good. Staff are responsive and seem like they really care about your learning experience and progress.
I’ve always had a bit of a struggle getting into Chinese cos it seems a bit daunting but when I started using this app, it just made language learning much more fun! I love the design of it and how there is a backstory while you learn :) Thanks for helping me get back into learning Chinese! 😂
I am a former PhD in Chinese Language teaching and elearning, specialized in vocabulary learning. Nincha is is at the forehead of recent lexical and computational research on Chinese : using characters frequency as underlying approach to maximize usability ; using characters combinatory properties ; space repetition system to maximize momorization ; emotionally positive interface with human-friendly pets. what they did is very simply astonishing by its final cognitive efficiency. Best 2019 app!
Fantastic, perfect for beginners. This is the first app I actually subscribed to! Great for learning the characters and their meanimgs. Well explained grammar lessons, unlike many chinese learning apps. It is also quite in depth and offers many lessons. I love that Nanchinese will take you from HSK1 to HSK5, giving you a measure of your learning. If you want to begin learning chinese Ninchinese is a must!
amazing, if your learning any Chinese I strongly recommend this app for you. it's fun and very easy to use and helps you learn very fast, using this app in a few weeks I was comfortable with communicating with people in China on a trip.
Beautiful, excelent, marvelous. I fell in love with it the second I found it on Google play. It helped me A LOT with learning the tones and the grammar app is also on point. Love it✨✨ (also there are no apps and the price for premium is so little :((( I swear the creators are bestest people ever :(((( )🥺🥺
In my opinion this is quite simply the best app for learning Chinese. I can feel the love for the language and culture right throughout and better yet, I find myself actually using the material that is taught unlike in other apps (Duolingo for example). After returning to the app from my first test 8 days ago, I am now a subscribing member and so glad to support such a wonderful app. Keep up the awesome work. 太感谢您了!
I was quite satisfisfied with this app. I am a little bit disapointed as several lessons do not have content in HSK 4 and 5. Furthermore vocabulary tips do to not work well. It says it is showing me a sentence below, but I do not see anything below and I can also not move down. Besides I cannot record sentences on my huawei phone, it only works on my laptop. On my mobile phone I enabled the access to the microphone and as I am in China I tried to use a few vpn access, but it still does not work.
I'm going to have downgrade this app as not recommended for the time being. Main reason is it may not work on new phones. My current phone is redmi11, and there is a serious loss of functionality owing to latest android version. The app freezes completely or when it doesn't freeze speaking option doesn't work. The content is available as a web version which is currently the only work around. If you don't like this option best steer clear for a few months until it's sorted.
