The beginning lesson of the app are really good, but the more you progress, the more you see how bare boned and empty it is. You encounter more bugs, and the lessons on higher levels are really short and few. The practice section is also lacking for higher levels.
There's a problem in German placement test . whenever I try to do it , it stops at some point saying " looks like there's connection issue please wait a few seconds and try again " .. I tried it multiple different times but still the same problem. I hope you fix it ASAP
Works really well but keeps crashing whenever I want to record my attempts at speaking German during the weekly challenges.
From the pics, there are 4 interesting lessons but in reality, there are only 2 lessons; Complete German and German for travel
Good if you want to get straight into the grammar, but not enough of the basics to make me feel confident and too many words I don't need to know as a beginner - for example, the vocabulary of office life. I would use this course in conjunction with something more geared towards travel, as it is good at drilling grammar into learners, but there isn't enough repetition of the basics.
Full of bugs. The course is good, the app design is beautiful, but the app is buggy at best. The app will be fine for the first lesson/review. Once I start doing the second lesson/review, the audio won't be making any sound. The lesson/review will also be stuck after the second time so if I want to do more exercises, I can't because it repeats.
There are good things in the app but I do not like that the settings are limited. I can add a picture about me but I am unable to switch off any of the annoying sound effects. Perhaps it was only added those sounds that users will not use the app for too long... I have also run into content where the question was not localized (A1 - lesson 5 or 6). Please add sound settings and look through once more all the content... Otherwise it is a good enough language practice app to use every day.
The contents is excellent and the material is presented in good pace with high quality. But please provide a simple and fast way to review previously studied material. Having to type full sentences is very slow, cumbersome and inefficient. Especially when you progress and start having many phrases to review.
I've been learning for a few days, and so far so good. But, I tried to upgrade to premium several times now with different payment methods and it shows an error message. Seems odd: in the app I see one price but in the browser is more expensive. UPDATE: I singed out and back in to the app and it doubled the price of premium membership 😑
I LOVE it. It's AMAZING!! I been using Duolingo, textbooks and some websites and they just weren't working ans i wasnt progressing lke i felt i should have. Busuu gives you everything you need to succeed with speaking, writing and listening. I eould give 10 stars if i could. It also allows others to correct your mistakes. It's great in every way!!!!
Automatic renewal with NO warning! I paid for premium and while the app is more helpful with grammar than other language apps i tried it's also kind of buggy and basic for the price. Also, I had no idea my subscription was up for renewal because they didn't bother to send any kind of email or notification and I ended up getting charged for an extra year. I asked for a refund and cancellation and they said they couldn't help which is nonsense.
Hi busuu Team, in dark mode I am not able to read the score on leaderboard. Please set it right. Otherwise the app works fine. It generally needs strong internet and hence the dependency on high speed internet is high which causes delay in showing the score. May be performance improvement is required. This is a good app if you want tot learn a language.
It's very useful, with good contents and also funny explanations. you can learn language and culture both together.
It ain't allowing me to watch anymore adds, it just forever loading, I can't pay the premium so I use adds to learn more and now I can only do a lesson a day
I like the app and the fact that we can get our exercisea corrected by native speakers. The annual fees are not too much and still you can learn for free (though some units are not free). I liked the dialogues and the fact that we learn sentences instead of individual words !
Probably the longest German learning app I've ever used. I like how random native speakers can review and correct your exercises (you can do the same and correct others' as well, depending on which languages you can speak) and add people to your circle of Busuu friends. I bought a one year subscription so I can't speak about ads popping up because there aren't any on mine.
Not the best app. Well formated forsure and even the structure of the courses and voice recorder interactions are neat, but so many times words are not clarified for their meaning in english after the fact so you do not really learn the actual structre of the language itself. Overall the way it is composed is not all that benifical to learning the language. If i could change it i would include litteral english translations after ever german word is shown and include more audio recognizition.
Just needs c1 and c2 material to get perfect. Its been such a long time is there ever going to be c1 and c2 content available?
Can't login with my Google account. I weighed up this against Duolingo and this looked the most promising. I would love to say it is the better option but I have spent so much time trying to log in that I have given up. I tried clearing cache and data, as well as trying both the main Busuu app and the German-specific one but still haven't managed to get anything but a spinning wheel. Edit: The app actually opened today and I subscribed to a year of premium for a discount but still can't use it!
This app is awesome. There is a systematic and coherent progression through the levels of the language covering listening, speaking, reading and writing. There is just one problem for me: some of the text and particularly the characters in Chinese are very small and hard to read. There may be a way to make them bigger but I haven't found it.
so far, so gut. full-scope of the topics and interesting tasks. great design, very persistent with making me buy premium.. great placement test, don't try to look smarter then you are during the placement test, as you'll miss a lot of what you could have learnt otherwise.
Very uplifting having native speakers correcting your exercises and vice versa. Unlike other apps and programs, it is a lot easier to retain the information. I highly recommend it for everyone to try!
The app is by far the best out of all the others in the market! Never had a problem even once. But I have a question, the app let us follow other people who wants to learn language as well but there is not a text feature within the app so that we can practice with them. Will Busuu add this feature in the future? Thanks
App works well overall now, although I did experience many problems in the beginning. All in all it is probably the best German learning app I've used. I do hit occasional bugs but not nearly as many as a few months ago.
RIP Duolingo. Duolingo teaches vocabulary, this teaches you how to speak. I tried the demo on a different account when I was unemployed, I liked a lot so when I got a job I opened a new account and it is amazing, very low price at first for a year and in 2 months I got my A1 certificate, it is really hard to keep up if you work but the app really works. One thing I wish was better is the natives giving feedback, it is hard for someone to reply your excercises.
these developers cannot rectify the issue for one year. Audio suddenly cutoff, I tried everything such as checking android, uninstalling the app, cleaning memory. Audio is not working, also I can't send report, it is written 'connection problem'.
There's lack of grammar in review tab. I had much more topics during the lessons and would be nice to have opportunity to repeat them. Also would be nice if I were able to add any words I encountered during the lessons to the vocabulary. In general not bad as an extra tool to learn language, but it's not enough as the only source of knowledge.
