This course is best if you have taken one or more courses in German. THIS IS NOT A BEGINNERS COURSE! However, if you need a refresher,and need more vocabulary then it is an excellent course. If you use it as a beginner course then learn words, and phrases but don't expect to actually learn how to speak the language as you won't know syntax,or grammar. I was quite good in German at time but no longer and wanted to regain what I lost. There are no ads in this.
The automatic play and setting up playlists and continuous play is awesome for working! You can just leave it hands-free and it will play for hours. This lets you walk away from your device and come back and it's still playing . The only drawback is that many sections are only in British English which is a very thick accent and hard to understand. I'm from Canada I would like to have North American English as I can't understand many words while I'm working and listening at the same time
Way too fast for a new learner. Doesn't repeat, everything is spoken too quickly, and jumps immediately into a review with little exposure to new words. Would be good for someone with some experience looking for review, but not someone starting out from nothing. I uninstalled after just one lesson. Not wasting my time on something that won't help me learn.
The content is very nice, but the app moves very slowly in general. It also gets stuck in a "loading" loop whenever I accidentally started downloading a course I didn't mean to use (which happens often because of aforementioned problem) and had to force stop app. I've had to uninstall and reinstall several time now.
Great app for super learning German words. I found a small bug given: Press pause button. Press pause button again (to resume). Then: Music does not resume (if any)! Small bug. Should be easy to fix. Thanks again :) Ps. There is also some bug with:"die Art". It needs to be manually progressed.
helpfull, straightforward, and as it follows the "CEFR levels" it has become my main and favorite apk to learn and practice languages. (For further improvements: On my opinion the "continue button" is too small sized and it is located in an inconvenient place for one-hand operation (left-handed)
The app is great subtract the minor(?) issues regarding loading, permissions, and crashes. My problem with it is the "words I've learned so far" almost always contain 7 random words that I've reviewed and no more. I want access to all the words I've already learned so I could review them at my own leisure. Is this a inherent feature of the app or is it simply a bug? (I hope that It's the latter cause everything else about this app rocks)
I like the app and the methods of learning.. a lot of usefull vocabs offered. I can say that my listening and reading ability has been improved drasticaly after finishing 45 % of B1 vocabs and 70% of A2 vocabs. The only problem i got is i was stock at the word einreichen in A2, the word has a glitch and no continue button so i can no longer use the A2 vocabs lvl. Hope you can fix this asap.
One of the best learning tools for German vocabulary. But there a few bugs in the software, changing system font size would affect in app screen ratio thus making half of the words out of display, in quiz mode it gets stuck at some words and doesn't progress.
too much permissions the app doesn't even work if a huge amount of permissions isn't given. Even GPS permission, all phone content, phone information, it's crazy and completely unreasonable for this type of application. doesn't make any sense for a language learning application, unless the data is for another usage... Even application where follow, permissions should be only request when really need and the app still should would without the permissions (with limitations), it is a big red flag that this app refuses to work without full access to your phone.
● Good method of learning. ● Audio for each word. ● Very good customization options : direction of translation, number of words learned each time, type of test (multiple choice answers, scrambled letters, typing, etc). ● However... cards for each words contain articles, but not plural forms, or genitive. Ex: A good dictionary would list "cat" and "bird" as "die Katze, Katze, Katzen" and "der Vogel, Vogels, Vögel" (though usually abbreviated).
Despite sometimes it gets buggy and freezes on loading pages it's a highly useful application, probably one of the best for fast and systematic vocabulary build-up. One more con for me is; radio feature is broken down, despite how much I try stations do not respond.
Interactive. You're not just reading words from a list and hearing their sounds. You have to learn to recognize the patterns and familiarize yourself with the spelling of words. Best free language app i have tried so far!
Ibreally like the app, but now that I have a new phone - galaxy 10, the size of the screen is not compatible anymore. The app stretch beyond the screen, so I can see only part of it.. Which makes it unusable unfortunately.
The app itself is great, and there are many important words in it as well, BUT it often doesn't load when I open it, and it also doesn't load packets of B1 or higher levels at all. Please fix this!!!
Choices are very small diffucult to read and press right answer. More frustrating is pressing "continue" every time. Why it is not automatically moving to next question? App is good but such design flaws make it impossible to use
A very comprehensive app! Clear and correct pronunciation!! Methodically presented!!! Difficult to fail, if you really wish to learn and have an initial acquaintance with a second, foreign language!!! Well done!!!🙂👍
I never leave reviews or 5 stars but this app is exceptional. I've gone from Englishman to German speaking Coach. The radio and newspaper section is what separates this from others. Definitely a keeper, I've had this for ages 18+ months Thanks to the makers.
Nice application for vocabulary training. The only bad thing is that the words are out of context. Some sentences as examples would be helpful maybe? Anyways, still really helpful to practice vocabulary :)
This is a wonderful fast learning app. Which incoorparates different learning methods. To help one learn through repetition and flash learning, which builds up your vocabulary. I love this app. Thank you to the creators. Plus the best part is that its free🌠
Interface Is not well designed for mobile. Is there a way to make the text and buttons larger? Everything is way too small and buttons are hard to press accurately.
They ask for so many premissions that does not make sense, access to make calls and an access to my media files, or the app won't work otherwise. Why? This is supposed to a simple app for learning german vocabs, not a messaging app.
Tech issue: not all the letters are shown on the screen so when I try to spell a word I can't click on the far right. It's very frustrating and it blocks the progression of the learning process.
Some of the audio words are broken and the training stops and cannot continue. When you close and open the app it starts again where it left and cannot continue.
4 stars for good learning methods, 3 stars for app design. Buttons for answers need to be bigger / adjust to screen size, once the answered should automatically procceed to the next question without having to always click continue.
App has a lit of bugs. The progress is never the same on computer and mobile app. The progress is often lost for no obvious reason.
A little slow and clunky as far as the interface goes, but hands down the best and most comprehensive vocab app I've ever used -and free! Better than many paid alternatives
1. As another person already commented, I do not get why this app asks so many unnecessary permissions. It is very suspicious and cannot be rationalised why they need all the information from my phone. 2. This app is for memorising words but there are wrong/unclear information about German words and their meanings. z.B. 'away' was written as 'abwesend' on the card, but the announcer of the app was saying some another German word.
The idea is good but... I must admit this is the best app for learning words I've tried so far. It really works. But it's buggy. It changes words translations in the middle of the course progress. The witten form is changed but the audio still corresponds to he old word. If the content gets updated it should update fully. The word classes do not always match (i.e. the translation of a noun is a verb etc.). That should not happen. For the learning method I would give it 5 stars. For the rest...
