I find it suboptimal but better than nothing. For Persian, I'm feeling like I'm being bounced ramdomly between unrelated words, phrases, and tenses. I tried with languages I know, to see if I was just being dense with Farsi, but found the same experience. If Persian was available from Pimsleur or Duolingo, I'd be there.
Added extra stars. At first it appeared to be subscription only. That is the first screen that comes up but you can skip that and there is a lot of free content after all. Good audio, and good practice drills. One minor problem is that the exercises introduce a particular vocabulary. You practice and drill with those words. Then it gives you sentences to construct using some new words that you haven't seen before. So the progression is not 100% perfect but usually it doesn't take too long to figure out so overall, pretty decent little app.
I appreciate that the AP is free and that the content is thoughtful and useful. I tried engaging the speaking portion but did not find it practical. It was difficult and sensitive with respect to holding down the microphone icon and releasing it with accuracy. I also wish there was some instruction such as; this is a verb, this is a noun or farsi does/does not have particles. That might be part of the premium version but I worry the free trial is designed to be difficult to cancel.
I bought the app but I found it not satisfying at all. first, me must be connected to the internet in order to learn. this is a huge constraint. most if apps are today available offline and online. second , moving from beginner to advanced there is no change . it looks like always beginner Third, the notification for daily lesson is not working. fourth, I sent a feedback to the support team but no answer!!!
The learning style of the app itself is very much like Duolingo. That being said, there are way more languages available on Mondly. You won't learn grammar rules, and I wish they had a feature to learn a new alphabet - sounds and letters. For that, I deducted a star. However, it is cool you can flip between alphabets (from say Persian to the Roman transcription) which other apps like Rosetta Stone don't allow. Good for beginning or if you're looking to refresh on a basic level.
nice format but some errors In lesson one, it gives you the option to click on the verb for the conjugations. the verb is ast/است/is but it brings up the conjugations of agree and when you click on the sound buttons next to them, nothing plays. Also, it is very annoying that there are full stops at the start of all the sentences in Farsi.
I'm a native speaker and searching for an app to teach my half German doughter some Persian and this app is just wrong from the beginning. Confusing the verbs Eating and Drinking just on the very first chapter. I only needed 1 minute to uninstall. 0 star.
The app is very easy to use. For a beginner I'd say the sentences are to complex, to long and spoken way to fast to hear all the words through the accent. The weeks lessons the word "Mekhorad" used "To drink" is incorrect it means "To eat" it should be "Minusham". Animal lessons have words not learned so you guess The App needs to be revisited for corrections to many lessons. If the customer has to pay for the lessons we should be learning it correctly. Not worth 9.99 a Month maybe for a Year.
User friendly, easy to learn. Great follow up to urge you more and more to learn the language,it is not 100% commercial,I felt that the main target is to spread culture. Thank you Emma.
Currently I love the app. Easy to use. A good mixture of grammar/text (lesson), vocabulary and conversation. Great app, tnx! Some criticism would be that you can't use the microphone to pronounce when you are g oing to say "حالت چصوره؟" at lesson 2 in the first module "Hello". The moment I tap and hold the app jump out. I have an Samsung Galaxy A71. Tnx for your consideration and tnx again for a great app.
I had much fun using mondly overall for about 10 different languages. A big thing I would really love to see is an option for more context to the actual word-to-word translation of a learned phrase instead of just the meaning. For example the persian "how are you?" translates to "how's your health?". Personally I find such information really nice since it allows for a stronger immersion into the language (or even culture) and therefore helps building a stronger connection and satisfaction!
I just started using the app but so far I like it. It's somewhat similar to Rosetta Stone in that it uses pictures to help you identify what the words mean. The only downside is that you either get the farsi words spelled out phonetically in English or you get it in farsi. This is challenging when there aren't any pictures because I can't read farsi. But you can switch between the two which is helpful.
This is a nice app to start learning Farsi, however, they do use mostly a formal version of Farsi. I enjoyed using this resource for several months, but then found other resources I liked better. If you want to unsubscribe from Premium, look for the email they first sent with your order info. That is the only place you can find the link to change your subscription preferences.
it is very good, living up to its promises. there are a few mistakes here and there, but they are easy to overcome. and of course you can give feedback, so that they can fix these occasional errors. It's nice that you can choose to have some competition, but you don't have to. I've learned many words and expressions and pronunciations that you cannot learn from a book.
There's a limited amount of apps that teach you Farsi, and by far this is the best one I've tried! Great UI and animation, not to mention the features it offers even for a free version. Keep up the good work!
I am editing this review because after using this app for a while now I am noticing some flaws in the design. And, yes, I am a paid subscriber. First, this app only uses quizzes to teach you. So you learn by trial and error. There is no reference material that you can study. If you want to review everything, you need to take the quiz again. Second, I don't like seeing the scoreboard automatically after each lesson. It should be optional when you press a button, for those who want to see it.
It's super duper easy but, if you are abit familier with the language, then. Cuz , it first give y tests and then make us guess the meaning of the word. AND! It insists on buying the premium, alot! If you are using it just for practice the go ahead it really is good for that like Duolingo.
It's not free. When you start it's ok but then you realize 99% of it you need a subscription. I was really excited to learn all these new words and then it said i needed a premium. I wish it was free and had ads rather than everything be locked. I'm really upset
So far, so good. I like the option of farsi or Latin alphabet, it's a good general learning Farsi app, the only slight is some Arabic has snuck in which is the case in most of these apps; also would like to know if there's some Pashto and Dari in the mix? I like the fact you have British and American English options, Yet early days to see if this is apparent. Best App so far.
In my opinion this is the best persian app currently out. The lessons are really well done and teach me a lot. The overall learning process is fun and addictive rather than stressful at times. Thank you!
The best app I have found for learning Persian. I wish there was a little more emphasis on sentence synthesis, but everything else is stellar. I've learned a lot through this app, and much faster than just with a book. Definitely worth it.
This app is NOT free. I finished section 1 "Hello" and proceeded to level 1 in chatbot, after level 1 when I press level 2 it tells me to sign up and pay for a membership after 7 days free trial.... you only get the 7 days free if you pre register to be a member after the 7 day free trial ends... so basically after level 2 you cant play unless you register with your credit card.
pretty good app, with nice varied content. the only thing missing is anki -style spaced repetition, or to mark words as "learnt" so that i don't need to practice "thank you" etc. if I already know it.
Really nice but too complicated to understand at first sight
i am american-born iranian and have always regretted that my parents did not teach me farsi as a kid, especially when we are at family get togethers. this is the first time i have encountered a resource that immediately helped me start to learn more than the few phrases i'd picked up before! it's easy to pick up right away, and im especially glad for the option to switch between romanized farsi and farsi script.
Love this even with a few glitches. One large one being the conversation. The replay for the part recorded cuts off the dialog. It runs to fast.
The app is potentially very good, unfortunately sentences are too difficult for a beginner (different tenses, aspects, prepositions and phrasal verbs are used with no explanation at all from the very first lessons). I won't renew my subscription.
