I found the app useful and also a really good source of information on Gaelic words and phrases. It would have been very beneficial to have some audio backup to assist with pronunciation - trying to second guess pronunciations from the spelling alone can lead to some major howlers and even future embarrassment.
no sound! 🥺 no, you can't learn this language by reading at all. I've been trying to learn it for a while but there's nothing 'concrete' to learn from as this is not a Latin based language ( sounds can be produced with certain logic) and the use of a smaller number of letters in the alphabet makes it reading more than a challenge. So, i still wish there was sound , but in the meantime for me it's not ' glayva' . Sorry
I like the different sections in the app, my problem is that there is no pronunciation to help. Each time I look up a phrase, I have to use another app to check how to pronounce it.
It's pretty good and well organized, but missing pronunciation is a point against it, specially for those who are beginners.
Key to learning any language is pronounciation. This may be a handy tool to expand ones vocabulary, but not in actually learning the spoken language.
Not sure how moving items to & from favorites is supposed to help me learn Scots Gaelic. No directions for use are available in menu. So what exactly is the point of this app??? 👎👎👎 HITTING UNINSTALL!!!
Promising. Would give 5 stars the only problems are the ads (just like nearly every app) and The fact it doesn't speak the word you have to try pronounce it yourself hope they add it in.
It's a good app for learning phrases and words unfortunately there are no learning of the verbs and vowels and sound of pronunciations of the Scottish gaelic all languages need sound of pronunciations of the words or phrases etc.
well organized, but no pronunciation, which is the most difficult part of learning a language.
Good vocab, but there is no sound! So I cannot hear how to pronounce it. Sort of disappointing.
Fun I could hold a basic conversation. An audio pronunciations would be good so, that I dont butcher it.
This app is great. However, it would have been 5 stars from me had it had audio for pronunciation
This would be a great app if it had sound for pronunciation purposes. Thank you!
needs pronunciation explanations, at the least! if not voice exercises. decent first step ;)
There is no audio that I could find and spelling without knowing how to pronounce the Gaelic word is of no use to me. To learn a language is to learn how to speak it. That is my belief, so I was unfortunately disappointed when I opened the app.
The written portion is good but there is not any audio to here the pronunciation.
Good so far. I wish it had voice. Make sounds easiler to understand.
It's an okay app.. but it dont say the words to you, which is disappointing..
Lots of useful phrases etc but no help with pronunciation.
Not very good no audio to know how to pronounce the words
very useful as a quick tef but shame there is no audio. tha mi duilich
Great for learning the words but no audio for pronunciation
Love the app. Just wished could hear how to pronounce the words
I can't seek short translations and no audio either
Many of the phrases are flat wrong and they have a lot of mis-used words that do not mean anything near what they give them as.
No audio but good organization of subjects!
There is no audio for pronunciation.
cannot find out how to hear the pronunciation? it's not helpful if you can only see the words!
I'm disappointed that it seems they used Google translate in some places, if not all. For example, 'fog-light' translates as 'ceò-aotrom', which actually means 'light fog' among other mistakes. I speak Irish fluently (a very closely-related language), so I know enough to know not to recommend this app. I've also tried that translation on Google translate (which is also very poor on Irish translations) and it shows up with the same mistake as on the app. I wouldn't trust this app. Try Duolingo
