After app update impossible to type Vietnamese words in gap. It's due to fixed amount of letters to type in, but each Vietnamese character with tone requires to key press.
So far I really like this app. I have another one but it uses sentences that are not useful. This app seems to offer more accurate and conversational words & sentences. I also like that lessons can be repeated if you want. The microphone is a bit touchy as you must speak very very quickly or it will shut off immediately. I would also appreciate it if the words were bigger so I can see all the accents clearly.
It is difficult to judge this app. It is visually great and in particular the dialogues are good and you get a number of voices. It is only free for a very little content. The content is too difficult for total beginners and rather simple for intermediate users. There is no real systematic teaching or build up of vocabulary or grammar. It claims to teach 3000+ words, but after reaching about 670 words (by its own count) I only get about 1 new word a day and I am about 75% through the material.
Wish there was a way to access everything with a one time purchase because I don't want the hassle of a subscription. Looks like free users only have access to basic lessons and the daily lessons, which is basically nothing. Doesn't support southern dialect (I'm a native speaker). App interface is cluttered and confusing but I could get used to it. App performance is honestly kind of bad and it stutters and lags as I navigate the app even though it really shouldn't on higher end phones.
Cancelled my subscription. Where Duolingo at least tries to maintain its content, with the opportunity for users to question each phrase, or raise issues, Mondly does not appear to do so at all. And there are quite a few misleading errors, and quite a few word / phrase combinations that are either misleading or simply don't seem to relate (a word is defined, then a moment later it is replaced by another unexplained word in a phrase). Now Mondly is hounding me to renew my subscription. No. You need to provide customer service if you want my money.
The free version is just enough to get a taste of the system to decide if you can learn with it. to really learn you need a subscription. Also worth noting is their system includes many types of learning: image matching, both way translation, pronunciation check, and typing.
This app doesn't encompass even slight variations in writing a sentence. One solution only, which is not necessarily grammatically correct. Can't test and determine my current level of understanding and knowledge. It's a shame more thought wasnt put into development of this app. It has the potential to be good, but I can't use it in it's current form. Unfortunately I have to uninstall.
This is a great app! It makes it very easy for me to learn Vietnamese. I don't like that an advertisement pops up for Premium after every session even though I was just repeating it in the same day. I also think that they should include some games that will help learn the language. But overall, it's a really good app.
Gives you nice short lessons that start to be really effective. You can really feel yourself progress. Also for being free theres not really much adds. It will from time to time ask if you wanna get the paid version that is dirt cheap but it's not even annoying.
I love the layout of this app. It definitely promotes learning the language. I do have one complaint: There is no option for Southern Vietnamese pronunciation.. I am trying to learn that specifically, and some other apps I have tried have the option.
The format and sounds are a bit weird, but the app is great to learn. Also I accidently put the wrong level of difficulty and they won't let me change it.
I really want to learn Vietnamese and the app looks promising, but as it turned out, it changes my phone's volume settings without asking permission. That's a huge privacy and security concern for me, so I have no other option than to uninstall.

Good learning app with visual guides, and I like the way it introduces things you haven't seen yet by process of elimination from things you have. Recommended.

Just used this app for the first time. Seems fun and reminds me of Duolingo (which I like)! Just not sure yet how many features the app will allow me to use without signing up for one of the payment plans?! Will see and update my review soon!

A good app generally, but it seems to only use the northern dialect. It would be nice if they could offer a southern option.
I really like the app. I gave it a 4 because the speaker needs to speak a little bit slower in order to get the pronunciation correctly.
I like it! It is definitely not for complete beginners, but it is great for people who already have a grasp of the basic grammar and sentence structure of the language they're studying.
I just started using but it seems to be a fluid, comfortable level of challenge with a daily reminder to practice.
very good app ..no invasive adds from the firs clic .. i do not use often as i m such a lazy guy but i ll try keep going ..eventually pay for it when i ll reach the point .. for now i feel almost sorry to not have more time to spend on it
I'm only giving it a 4 because it's my first day. So far this is the best app I've used since I started learning Viet. I have instant feedback. There are conversations to practice speaking. There are daily lessons to practice. I struggled with being engaged with workbooks. Since this mobile I can take it anywhere. Unlike the other apps, I think it may be worth the cost for premium access.
