The Learning Ally library offers bestsellers, classics, textbooks and more. In addition, it offers the VOICEtext format that includes on-screen highlighted text synced with the audio narration.
Learning Ally membership is required to use this app. School memberships include access to Link and can use this educational reading app for students who have print disabilities. Parent or Adult memberships require providing Learning Ally with proof of a print disability.

Useful tool for reading but if you are not actively in the app then it will go back a page or 2 and start reading the save part over and over again forcing you to stay in the app the entire time
Learning Ally used to be great but it's really gone down the tubes recently. For starters, what was wrong with the old app? If anything, the old app was better then this one. In the original Learning Ally app, you could access your books quickly and easily without having to look at any loading screens. Also, some of the older readers should never have been replaced as they did a much better job than the ones they were replaced with.
The service is vital but the app itself is terrible. It's definitely something that if I didn't *need* it so bad I wouldn't use it *because* of the app. The app is glitchy and rereads the same pages over and over, shut off at random times, the pages must be manually turned much of the time or it gets sick/goes back to the page you started on at random intervals (too bad if you didn't know your pg #), it shuts off w/ the screen, and there's no option to control the playback from the lock screen.
I has lots of options and is very accessible on all of my devices, but I wished listening outside of the app was much easier. It only lasts for around 5 minutes before it starts repeating sentences and I have to reopen it. The only place I can use the app comfortably is my Chromebook which I can't take everywhere and use for working. Kinda disappointing.
I love this service so much, but the app is a little glitchy. It kept reading me the same pages over and over instead of going to the next page. I could manually turn the page though. This service is invaluable, we just need more college textbooks (law school) and less glitchiness. I also wish the readers wouldn't say "quote," and "unquote." It is very distracting. If you can fix the glitches and ask the readers not to say the punctuation out loud, I would give this five stars.
Concept is great, execution, not so much. When it works, it's wonderful. However, the app on my S21 and S6 Lite tablet both constantly hit errors trying to find books to read. I figured out chrome on PC works to add books and they show up on Android. This is workable until you lose internet, which completely disables the app. No reading on a plane or after turning internet off for kids bedtime.
Buggy and frustrating. For paying over 100 dollars for a 1 year subscription, the android version of this app is useless. It skips and jumps back in the text every few minutes. It is maddening to the listener and there seems to be no fix. Used to have the app on an ipad and did not have this issue.
We love learning ally. The update is very disappointing though. It now will not show any books on my daughter's shelf on our Samsung tablet or my Samsung Note phone. Still works on Chromebook but there goes our ability to do audio books in the car. With as much as we take road trips that is a BIG disappointment.
As of 2/22/2022 - The newest update won't allow you to update at all. I tried numerous times to update the app with no success. I have plenty of room for the update. I then tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app, again with no success. Please fix this!!! My children love using this app and now we can't use it at all.
The bug that jumps back a few pages randomly still exists and the bug that when your phone times out, a minute or 2 later the app will stop reading. I mostly just want the app to read to me without jumping back a few pages for no reason. This makes it tough as it is every 5 - 15 minutes. Please squash these bugs in the next update.
Refuses to work. I'm required by my school to use this app to read, but it freezes and won't allow me to scroll or interact with the app at all. I have uninstalled and reinstalled this app 5 times today in the hopes of getting it to work. Also, just as other reviews have stated, the interface is terrible to interact with and makes reading a challenge. I am amazed that somehow schools were convinced this was a useful resource when it fails to function.
I can't say enough about using this app. I love it. The only reason I gave it 3 stars is because not all textbooks are up to date. As a college student, I need to make sure I have updated information. I will say that despite the difference, I've been able to maintain my grades. Learning Ally is recommended to anyone, but especially those who live with visual or learning challenges.
I love this service! It is very helpful. Unfortunately, Everytime it starts a new chapter, and about 3 times in-between chapters the speed slows down to the middle.This is very frustrating. Hope a fix comes soon!
Took 2 days to download the FIRST time. We had the book for a little over a week and went to read it yesterday and it had to REDOWNLAOD! Today is day 2 and it's only at 10 percent it's so frustrating since we are suppose to be reading it for school! Yes I have great wifi and plenty of space on my phone so why this does thisnos beyond me. It was a good app until I had to deal with this!
I love the concept of this app but it is so very glitchy. It will either reread the same pages. Or stop all together, putting you back several pages. It will not maintain the speed when it glitches either.
Accidentally deleted the app and can not reinstall. All other apps install fine, this one will not install. :( The old app was removed prior to the update, have tried repeatedly to reinstall and does not work.
Worked at first, then it read would the book to but no words would display, then somtimes the book wouldn't show up, now I can't get it to load any books. This program is garbage, can't get customer service help, save your money don't pay for this. Constant glitches
I have this app through my college and it is great that some of my text books are on here but when i and using the app and my phone locks it will start ans repeat the section I just read. I have to make sure my phone does not lock when I am reading. I dont know if its my phone or the app itself.
This may be the worst app I have ever personally used. Unfortunately, the speed of the app keeps decreasing to less than 1x normal speed. Navigating is a bit of a chore for the legally blind. I'm very frustrated! I don't know what your problem is and why you don't work, Mr App. There are successful app developers. Maybe you can ask them for help?
Too many bugs. Keeps on replaying text that was just read, the speed of the the voice seems to reset every then and now for no reason, and etc
Poorly developed app, website, and service. Half of the time the app doesn't work because their servers is down. Learning Ally is not really usable, just a waste of money.
does not work at all. solid blue screen. Nothing appears, nothing opens, can't do anything. site administrator says this is a recurring issue with Android devices. Not cool. So let me know
App no longer updates. Followed the troubleshooting guide and uninstalled. Not the app will not reinstall. This was as of 3/4/2022.
The survers are down a decent amount of time, because of that I am not able to read my book that I want. It takes them a decent amount of time to get it up and running again, but basides that it is a good app and for that I will give it four stars.
The update fixed the issue with not being able to install. The service was great in school and is good overall with some glitches. Access to school textbooks make it invaluable.
