LectureVideos

LectureVideos is a screencast extension to LectureNotes for video and audio recording while taking handwritten notes using LectureNotes.
It has been designed while having a user at university (or at school) in mind, for instance a lecturer who is using it for producing tutorial videos or for recording her/his lecture while teaching using LectureNotes (by writing on the device and projecting the screen content for the audience) or a student who is using it to prepare tutorial videos for fellow students. However, it has many potential applications outside university, for instance in business or technology.

Its major target devices are tablets with Android 4.1 or later.

NOTE: LectureVideos cannot be used on its own, it is designed to serve as an extension for LectureNotes and can only be used in conjunction with it. If you wish to record video and audio while taking handwritten notes, launch LectureNotes and start video and audio recording there, the video and audio files will be stored within the corresponding notebook directory.

LectureVideos uses the Android MediaCodec API that became available with Android Jelly Bean to encode video and audio, so that Android 4.1 or later is required. It has been carefully tested on a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1, an Asus Nexus 7, a Samsung Nexus 10, and an Asus MeMO Pad. However, since the behaviors of the Android MediaCodec differ significantly between devices, LectureVideos might not work on a given device.

LectureVideos entirely relies on the Android MediaCodec and does neither contain any codecs nor any other encoding, decoding, multiplexing, or demultiplexing code (mainly to avoid legal problems).

User feedback:We would love to hear from you, please send feedback and feature requests to us by email (devel [a] acadoid.com). If you encounter a problem with the app, please email us and we will do our very best to fix it quickly.

Major features:
* requires only minimal permissions and no internet connection (we do respect your privacy!)
* allows display content and audio signals to be recorded while taking handwritten notes using LectureNotes (root permissions not required)
* allows recorded display content and audio signals to be replayed using LectureNotes
* allows recorded display content and audio signals to be multiplexed into an MP4 container file using LectureNotes (devices with Android 4.3 or later only)

Possible issue: For good audio quality, it is advisable to use an external microphone, in particular when taking notes with a stylus with a hard tip in parallel (the noise that the tip causes on the device display and human voices are in the same frequency range and the former cannot be filtered away reliably).

An excellent plugin for LectureNotes, which is by far my most-used app on my tablet. I use LectureNotes to write during lectures (college math) and LectureVideos to make videos for my students. It works great, is easy to use, and you have a lot of control over the video quality so you can balance quality vs. file size. It can take a long time to convert a video after you make it, but I don't think this is avoidable. I highly recommend this app!

This is a great app for my classes, I can record all my lectures. But there is one problem, the recorded videos can be accessed only through and within lecturenote apps, the videos don't show up on the device storage, this defeats the whole purpose, videos should be download able on local storage and directly accessible, quite disappointing, though I wish this facility to be added to the app.

Excellent! One of the main android apps for me. Together with Samsung's pencil it is the best writing experience that I know. I use it every day for my classes.

Great for teaching content

It's got loads of functionality. I use this to make tutorial videos for my students. Customizability is amazing. I'd like it if we could save our handwriting as a vectorized pdf, but this is a minor prrsonal preference thing, the image quality is not poor by any means.

I'm an engineer who teaches and writes about my discipline on my website, Practical Precision, and it's incredibly powerful to be able to share as if I'm drawing on a white board in front of a class.

I use this along with Lecture Notes to make tutorial and problem solving videos for math and engineering students. It is the best I've found for this purpose!

I gave 5 star to lecture notes and 1 to this. All videos get recorded with 0 length. Hope it is not Waste of money. Tried all options. Need help...... (Edited my feedback after few months from here further)...Long back I was offered a refund by developer(developer contacted me and was very helpful), since this problem seems to be due to google's policy. However I continued expecting either google to change an unnecessary policy or atleast developer to develop this small resolution (involving storage in Ext SDcard). Updates are coming but I am not getting a solution. But my love for lecture notes(other product) makes me to live with the expectation still. Atleast can such a loyal paid customer know an expected date??

Love the app but issue with exporting to YouTube. Looks like a bug as it starts and 2 seconds later it returns to previous frame.

PROS: it is beautifully integrated with lecture notes. one should not hate it because it is not a stand alone screen capturer; it is not meant to be so. i feel (stand alone screen capturer + lecture notes) will make my tablet (10.1 pre-2014) run slow. lec vids work as a breeze. 》》》》》CONS: if you do NOT have the latest android version kitkat, then the video and audio will saved separately in h264 and 3gp formats respectively. the audio file has the correct speed; however, the video file is 2.08 times faster. you realize this when you play the files independently. if u play in lec notes, they sync perfectly. i dont have kitkat yet and dont know when I will finally get it in India although they have released in Germany. anyways, solution to this problem should not depend on getting kitkat.

The best app to explain, and create tutorials.

There used to be a huge delay in navigating the recodings but now its impruved, so i changed my rating from 3 to 5. It would be good if u could also open the lecture notes app with the multytask feature of some tablets and take additional notes on things u miss during the lecture.

I'm currently a college student. I use this to make videos on how to do problems and stuff and it's very easy just to email them to my friends to show them how I did a math problem or something. It's easy to use and records very well. No fuss. The size of the videos are also very small, a five minute video will be around 6 mb which is a huge plus. You can share the videos you make easily. Converting the video into MP4 is a little slow though. If your video is 10 minutes long it will take 10 minutes to render so that it can be shared via email or whatever you want....
