Lesser AudioSWitch

A simple app that allows you to force output audio to play on either the speakers or via the headphones jack.
Supports 4.4.2 and above (including lollipop and marshmallow).

It is primarily for people whose device does not detect them plugging in their headphones. As long the port is not damaged, and the problem is simply android not detecting them, then this should do the trick.

Probably maybe, I don't actually have a broken device to test on ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Other free apps that perform this task exist, but I couldn't seem to find any that worked on lollipop/marshmallow

It weakens stereo, and closer to mono. I don't have Mono Audio enabled, but this app also enables mono. I watched holophonic videos on YouTube, and I'm disappointed that I can hear both sounds in both earphones what I'm not supposed to hear. I can still kinda pinpoint in my head the virtual source of the audio in the 3D sound experience but it's definitely different from when I'm not using this app. It also doesn't show the 🎧 (headphones) icon on notification tray, that might be the reason.

Worst app I ever installed. It removed my speakers output and switched it to headset. I was not able to change it back. Contacted support and looked for fixes on the Net. I could not find anything. I have to rset my device and reinstall all apps. I would not trust this app.

I love this app because it allows me to use external audio devices to record and is the only app I've come across that works. However, the interface confuses me for some reason. It's only after trial and error that I'm able to get the configuration that I want. But it's only a small drawback (and a quick fix from a developer standpoint) when considering the overall how well the app functions. Thanks!

I need an app that can route audio. Inputs and outputs being customized. I want to control which input is being used and which output is being used. This app has an interface that looks like it can do those things but the"buttons" don't act as buttons. They're not selectable. I really want to buy the full version but I can't justify a purchase because I don't think this app does what I need.

I had a problem with my phone being not able to identify when a headphone was connected. It always used my speakers as a an audio output regardless of whether my headphones were plugged or not. I downloaded the app and it worked wonders. I switched manually to the headphone mode and back, tapped reset and rebooted the phone. Now everything works just fine. Thank you guys for the application!

Simple and works great! I wanted to cast my screen to a TV but keep the audio on my phone headphones and that's exactly what this app did. It was super simple to use. One tiny bit of feedback is that when I hit the button to play sound on headphones there was no indication that I had chosen that option (such as the button being highlighted) so this would be a useful addition to the design.

This app is awesome. Unfortunately the Auto ON/OFF switch doesn't seem to do anything on my HTC U Play. The headphones connect/disconnect does not automatically change audio source. I am a also a developer and am looking forward to help you debug or provide more information about this if you would be kind enough to take a look :)

This app needs instructions. I ended up pushing buttons trying to figure out how they worked and couldn't make anything happen. Then when I uninstalled the app, I noticed issues with media playback on my phone; if I used my Bluetooth headset then turned it off, no sound would play on the phone! It was like the buttons I had pressed in the app were still having some effect after the app was uninstalled! Very upsetting; an app should always revert the phone back to original settings upon uninstall. I spent a long time troubleshooting before having the epiphany that this app may have caused the problem. Sure enough, when I reinstalled it and looked at the debug screen, it was set to only play through headphones. Very disappointed.

It's a great application. Full points to the Developer. My Redmi Note 3 was stuck on earphone mode(sign) , and i was not able to remove the sign. Did all the stuff provided online, but nothing worked. I would have to spend money on replacing audio jack, or new phone. But thanks to the developer, i can now switch between speaker and headphones mode, and Persistent notification is also quite handy. 👍

Love this app! I tried so long to get my speaker to work, but it was stuck in headphones mode. This is the only app I've tried so far that really removes the headphones icon from my phone screen. As like the other apps, it won't automatically switch to headphones mode when you plug in your headphones. Oh and it still works even after you close the app

It was ok. The latest update adds the buttons back to the notification, as it was before it became a $5 app. Unfortunately the buttons don't switch between the modes, but take you to the app with a pay button. Now I understand they'll respond saying how they have expenses, well, $5 is a price for an actually useful app (e.g. aquamail), not something that needs a lot of work and had minimal functionality.

My phone jack is broken on my phone. I have tried multiple apps to try and get my phone to switch audio from headphones to my speaker. Some apps work, some don't. This one worked the best, but there's still a problem. I can't use my internal microphone for some reason. I have tried different settings on this app, and it still doesn't work. Other than that, the app looks good visually, and I like that there are many different options of where to switch the audio.

I need app like this but this one doesn't help me because my phone has 2 headphone jacks. Just a suggestion if you keep developing this app could you please add something to check if the phone has more than just one 3.5 output. Or if there's a way to force ALL audio to the speakers, even if it was going out to another output too. My primary 3.5 works fine but the second one keeps saying there's something connected and that messes up the other one too. I'm sure the app works on my phone but because it just disables the first audio output it doesn't think about the second one and fails to do what I need. My phone is Marshall London and nobody uses this anymore so it feels almost impossible to find a fix for this, I'm gonna open the phone next and physically remove the connection to see if that helps.

This really helped! I broke my headphone jack in my phone and, in my attempt to get it out, I jammed it further in making it impossible to change the setting on my phone. I thought all hope was lost and I'd have to get a new phone. But no! It works perfectly with everything. And it doesn't give you random ads either. All around great app. Thank you!

I bought the "premium" version to use the automatic function, but it doesn't work consistently and is not reliable. It also confused my phone and caused it to flip between speaker and bluetooth audio randomly. Also, this app could really use a better explanation of what the buttons do in the app and in the notification pulldown menu controls. No clear instructions on how to properly use this app.

This is a good-enough app. The controls are pretty much unfathomably unintelligible (to me at least) but within just a few minutes I fiddled around enough to make it work the way I wanted: route the sounds to the speakers while 'headphones' (actually a sound-dead glass-break-hammer pin) plugged in. And it keeps working a few hours long, unlike some other apps I tried

This app's a lifesaver for busted/old phones. The only improvement I'd really suggest is: when you tap the Speaker/Headphones buttons, there's almost no visual sign you're tapping it (the dark blue button BARELY lightens for a second), so I can't tell if I hit the button to change the input or missed it on my screen-- it would be SO much more helpful if the button flashed yellow or some bright colour for a second, to make it obvious that you selected it. Would bump my review to 5 stars if fixed.

Installed because I would like to have it automatically switch to phone mic only when connected to certain Bluetooth devices (such as my boats BT receiver that I have to disconnect from when I need to answer a call) not all devices such as my BT headset. I did not get the auto upgrade because it wasn't clear if it was an option to select only certain devices with which to force phone mic. Please let me know if this is the way it works and I will upgrade. Thanks.

Previously I was able to switch between headphones and speakers in the notification drawer also but not able to see that in latest update. Can you include that in your next update. Minor cosmetic suggestion - the selection highlights of choosing between speakers and headphones could be better, it's not visible clearly which is chosen at the time of choosing and after! For now I can only see the selected option in notification drawer. A label could be selected inside the app.

It's great and customizable. One big issues is I cant get it to switch from "Call" to Google Play using headphones w mic and back again. [UPDATE] Extremely frustrating as switching from Google Play to the AudioSwitch causes the other end to not here me (sometimes wondering if static or music is being played to the other side). I have to call back twice for the other side to here me. I had everything set perfectly in the last version.

My phone got stuck in headset mode & won't play any media sounds over speaker, so I need an app to force my phone out of headset mode. This does the trick! I tried out a few apps, this one is the best. I can switch between speaker & Bluetooth like I normally do without having to manually go into the app to select the output each time. Phone, media, alarms etc all work pretty much like normal, other than a little audio quality issues on phone calls. Very helpful until I can get my phone fixed.

The headphone port on my phone has been acting weird lately and I couldn't hear anything through my headphone speakers even though it says the headphones are plugged in and they work fine when plugged into other devices. I looked up possible solutions and found this app. I don't know how it works, but I can hear sound through my headphones again. Excellent app

Works good, but I wish I could use two outputs simultaneously. My wife and I like to watch a movie on the plane together. Usually we both download the same movie ahead of time, but I wish it wasn't necessary. Not sure if Android allows this, but would be nice to use Bluetooth and USB-C outputs simultaneously.

Amazing app. Ever since my phone auto upgraded to Android 9, Android's DND doesn't work. I need to have silent personal video calls while I'm at work, and DND stopped silencing video calls. So I've tried many apps that call themselves "mute" or "silent". One even had "absolute & total silence", but they're all liars. They do NOTHING to mute video calls. But your app is perfect. I just hit the "headphones" button, and my video call is instantly silent. Thank you!!!

Only function I needed (auto switch when headphones are plugged in) now locked behind a paywall. A rather big paywall as well considering I've paid less for apps that do more. This app was the only one that fixed the audio switching issue on my phone. I've also noticed you can no longer change what audio output to use in the notification drawer, despite what the developer has said in previous responses. When I select either option I am taken to the "unlock these features" screen.

The app was good and functional, I had it for 2 years, however the same app isn't working with me when I try to u audio on headphones and phone mic, it just makes everything on speaker when its supoust to be headphones, even tho I'm clicking the headphones settings. Its also buggy from time to time and makes it very anoying after having to deal with it multiple times
