Lex is independent, queer owned and operated. Lex is funded by a successful 2018 Kickstarter campaign and queer community members who contributed $5-$10 to post ads on Instagram. With Lex app you’ll be able to filter personals and missed connections by location (from your neighborhood to The World), age, and added search function (search key words like: femme, top, pizza). Make a profile—create a username, write in your gender identity(ies), and link your Instagram (or not). Talk to babes via in-app messaging! Only you see who likes you—there are no publicly visible like tallies. You can report personals and users and they will immediately be blocked (admin will monitor the reports as well).
RULES OF CONDUCT
Lex adheres to a zero tolerance policy towards creeps: no transphobia, no racism, no fatphobia, no ableism. No hate speech of any kind. We reserve the right to delete personals or missed connections for any reason. A healthy, loving, and safe community is our top priority. Lex is currently community moderated, admin reviews all reported content within 48 hours.
WHAT ARE PERSONALS ADS?
Personal ads, or “personals,” are brief, text advertisements that traditionally ran in the back of print newspapers and magazines. A typical personal ad describes the person posting and their interests, and is meant to generate friendship, romance, or sexual encounters.
HERSTORY OF LEX
Lex (formerly known as Personals) was inspired by the personal ads in On Our Backs, a women-run erotica magazine of the ’80s and ’90s. The personals were written by lesbians and detailed their desires and romantic requirements. In 2017, Kell Rakowski—founder of the lesbian culture Instagram @h_e_r_s_t_o_r_y—began sharing vintage personal ads from On Our Backs on Instagram. The response was so enthusiastic, Rakowski decided to ask @h_e_r_s_t_o_r_y followers to submit their own personal ads. It was an instant hit. The ads quickly outgrew @h_e_r_s_t_o_r_y and warranted their own account, @_Personals_. By 2018, the number of submissions overwhelmed the Personals Instagram. Rakowski resolved to build an app to accommodate the growing Personals community.

I can't get past the sign up screen. It will get to the "Creating your Account" section and it won't go further. Can't get a real view of the app if I can't even create an account 🤷 Update: It took me three tries to sign in, but it finally worked. I like the way the app looks and feels so far!
I love the idea, but you can't really delete a chat without blocking and I've ran into a few people who were clearly scammers. Not the apps fault but if you live in a smaller populated area dont expect much. Its a little boring. I would like to stick it out though just incase. I love how inclusive and friendly it is. I only met one user who was not great. I think with a bit of improvement it can be fantastic. Update: i am going to uninstall, no one talks to you and its gotten very boring.
Concept seems good but I finally posted and now the text areas glitch and I can barely reply to anyone as I press the buttons and the letters glitch out, delay and then sometimes never populate the text box. It's frustrating. I'm deleting and re-downloading the app. But just some feedback for the team!! Also, I love that you've added photos
Installed app. As imstructed entered phone number. Then entered code after 3 try to get a code sent. Did this several times. Each time is came up "the code is incorrect." This app has some bugs in program. I gave up. Best of luck to other new subscribers. I' m finished trying. Cheery bye.
I'd give 6 stars of possible! Great way to meet like-minded people and make real connections. It's a starting platform for friendships for sure. The system works as is, just posts and texts, no, pictures or other things. Could be implemented with a feature that allows, if both parties agree to have a more complete IM system, with gifs and file exchange, audio/video calls but tbh, there's other platforms one can move to for that eventually.. wouldn't change a thing
Fun most of the time! I have been having issues with messages not loading though. It sometimes fixed itself when i exit the app completely and reopen it. Pls patch this out! Other than that, I love this app so much :)
Adding profile pictures is the beginning of the end, I joined because it was basically a weird craigslist classifieds section, and everyone was just a handle and their posts but clearly they want it to be just another tinder clone. It's disappointing, the weird community they had has already started to fade.
Met a really great person on it. It really needs better options for preferences of type of people you're looking for. Poly, mono, orientation, etc
App functionality is pretty decent! sometimes messages dont load right away or you miss a notification, but usually that's when it needs an update or something, and then it gets fixed! Went thru a brief period where i kept getting kicked out and having to log back in with phone # - seems to be fixed now Having great success finding cool people to talk to. Also swapping spotify playlists is very popular on here, highly recommend trying this lol (KY, USA)
Supposedly launched, but the app doesn't work at the most basic level. Can't log in with either phone number or email, and those are the only options it gives you.
Great for finding friends/community as well as potential dates. Wish there were more filters for posts, like maybe tags we could assign and filter by, but overall the community is nice.
I really like the message board quality, kinda wish there was a way to pin profiles of ppl I'd like to talk to but don't have time when I spot them but usually not hard to find again depending on your settings
It's an okay app but for finding actual dates, it doesn't work for me. The conversation don't really go anywhere, it's too anonymous.
Great way to find anything and everything you're looking for. If someone hasn't already posted about it, make a post and you're pretty much guaranteed to find people who want what you want. I think this app is a bit more populated in urban areas, but if you live somewhere rural just set your distance as far away as you like (0-200+ miles)!
Do you guys have a UX team or designer? Because you should get one. This app is a nightmare to use and that's coming from someone who uses it regularly. Also improve your messaging and notification. And stop prompting users to give you good reviews. It's manipulative. They'll give you good reviews if your product is actually good
Can see messages in inbox but not view them in chats. Otherwise good app and lovely community, but this is making it really difficult to have conversations on the app.
I was scammed on this app. Lex needs to implement a verification system. There are way too many catfish and scammers here. Also, We shouldn't be given a limit of 6 post every 30 days. Make it unlimited.
Just the right amount of app! Minimal, functional, and I got a lot of cool trans friends out of it. Highly recommended! :)
The best queer meet app around at the moment. Love the text based approach and the lack of swiping/liking.
The app is nice and simple, bit the limited post does hurt a bit. Also there's a few people out there that look to gatekeep cis people put of the app. Not an issue to me personally but this is supposed to be about community.
I saw this app recommended by Mozilla and was excited about trying it, but I can't figure out how to sign up without a phone number. Uninstalled.
This app seems to be something I would be into but after trying several times (with reinstallation of the app) it never let's me register an account. The app just freezes up everytime I try to register and there doesn't seem to be a way to register through a web browser so the app is unusable to me. Perhaps they don't take android users or something but if that's the case they should take their app off the android store.
I like it. It's a nice app. Being text based makes it for more genuine interactions. Feels like reading newspaper ads. Fun. I would like to see a dark mode for us night owls. That would get 5 stars.
It seems okay, the people are very nice and respectful. My only problem is that there seems to be a bug where new messages dont pop up until you close and reopen the app. Its kind of annoying considering when the notification shows up, it doesnt show the entire thing. Im hoping this gets fixed because it really is annoying.
