LG Smart ThinQ

Worked great for three days. I had a blackout for about 3 minutes. Everything came back. However, now when I open this app it crashes instantly. I've cleared the cache, nothing. I've cleared all data, uninstalled, reinstalled, restarted my mobile device, and as soon as I log back in it crashed. I finally was able to get this app working by going to every aircon and reset the WiFi and reconnect by re-entering the WiFi password in the app. Do I need to do this every time I lose power?

The app isn't that bad, a few things to solve: 1. Definitely needs a dark mode 2. It's pretty slow syncing with the devices status, I often sit for half a minute waiting for it to detect the actual status of my TV (it shows my TV as offline while I'm literally watching YouTube in it) 3. For the love of god, please bring back the option to type from your phone instead of using the remote. It's annoying to type letter by letter, and the old LG app had that option. Best regards

The app is good but would be better if we had the following: 1) Hours and minutes option while scheduling instead of only hourly option (currentlyavailable). 2) In repeat schedule have switching on & off seperate. I may not want to switch on the AC at the same time dailybut would want to switch it off at a particular time. Not able to do that currently. Thanks

Edit: Keeps disconnecting from wi-fi now. Had to uninstall and install the app every time and now that doesn't even work For the last few weeks I haven't been able to change the schedule of my AC via the app. I get the message "Please retry for normal operation". It's gotten colder on my country now and the AC still follows the old (summer) schedule and I can't find out how to change this without the app. It's really horrible at the moment. Uninstalling/reinstalling hasn't made any difference.

The previouss version of the app was more intuitive. I'm using it with my washing machine. In the previous version there was a clear list of downloadable programs and the programs that already exist. In this version not anymore. The "manage favourites" is unnecessary, as it is just a list, the program can't be accessed from there. At least, I have not figured out how to. But this version connects more easily than the pevious one, so that's a plus. Edit: I wish there was an Eco program!

I'm starting to get push notifications for random household detergent. This is the kind of sh;t I would expect from some free flashlight app or something - not a remote app for a $1000 TV. Completely unacceptable. EDIT: A response to LG's reponse: I understand I can mute notifications, and have done so. What I'm saying is that when you're selling $1000+ OLED TVs, you don't need to push ads on your app - especially since you already put ads on the $1000 TV I bought.

LG TV sees my phone, I keep putting in code, sometimes it connects and asks for the network password, sometimes it doesn't. When it does connect, it says my phone is registered to TV. Then the ThinQ app says that the functions are not available in the trial version. But I don't have a trial version. Remote control buttons don't even work. App has two buttons on the same page to add a device. Which one do I use? There's no place to see which devices are actually added. It's terribly designed.

I am very encouraged by the improvements and slick design of this App. I like the fact that efforts are being made to make it more intuitive and user friendly. However, there are still 2 key buttons missing for me. The Guide and Exit buttons which should be right amongst the top buttons. (The return button requires too many presses) It would also be nice to have editable buttons but great job though, I'm loving it.

Absolutely terrible! Says that I can login on my phone and send info to my TV to download apps. Keeps telling me to turn my TV on but yet it's already on! The phone allows me to use the remote function and they are both on the same internet connection. LG has failed miserably with this app. Literally the only thing I can do with this app is the remote function. Can't cast my phone to tv, can't download apps and send them to tv. The TV itself is okay but the app was a complete failure.

Not a bad app. I originally got it to connect my TV to Alexa and was very disappointed with the support I received. However, the developers reached out to me and were able to identify why I was having trouble connecting. If you have a model 55UJ6300-UA TV, the TV itself may not be compatible due to when they were made. They can still collect to the ThinQ app, but not to Alexa.

Use it to control my mini split heat pumps and it's always been fine, but not great. Definitely could be a lot more features to make it more useful. Also, the way the app deals with scheduled runtimes for the heat pumps during daylight savings time (changing the scheduled time for turn on/turn off by an hour) is impressively illogical.

No good. Can't get to the remote. Every time I go into the app it puts a screen there giving me options to turn on an already connected TV, install another TV, or app settings. Problem is that it won't do anything except if I click on the app settings, which are useless! The menu just brings me back to that same screen with the options & I can't even get to that unless I go to the app settings first. So all in all it's completely useless! I'm uninstalling it and try to find something that works!

This app used to be a little shaky at best when it came to pairing & casting to the TV, the latest update its absolute trash. I've installed it and reinstalled a few times already, save that suggestion. Yes, also restarted router, unplugged tv and restarted the phone. Now pairing it with the TV takes a lot of time and it's surprising when it does. Yes, both TV and the app have the latest updates. There's definitely a bug on the software as far as using it with android so it needs fixing.

I'm specifically trying to control my AC away from home right now. I can turn it on/off, and adjust the temperature. But, I'm unable to access the menu to change it to cool, fan only, dry, etc... It just gets stuck on the loading screen.

This app never works the first try. I use it for my lg smart TV I bought last year and I didn't purchase a cheap one. Software is up to date on my TV and phones. Same experience on ios and android. I also work in IT. Really surprised that there hasn't been a fix for this yet. There's tons of users affected - you guys see and respond to the critical reviews. This is super important for your end user customer experience. Fix it!!!!

Pretty disappointed in the oversights with controlling a washing machine. I have an all in one washer dryer and the app won't let me select a drying cycle. Also, none of the predefined "programs" include a drying cycle. Worse yet, there is no option to save a custom cycle. The only reason this isn't 1 star is because the connection process was really smooth and it works with Google Assistant.

No clue why every app update forgets the devices paired to it. They are there, but no longer are connectable. You need to delete them from the app, re-add them, and then re-sync to Google (if you use that). Perhaps LQ, you could do some regression testing and verify that new doesn't ALWAYS break what it deployed? Pretty sure that is software development 101....

A nightmare to connect to my AC . Finds nothing to connect to .Tells me to connect to wifi as per instructions on back of remote , there are no such instructions . The previous app found and connected no problem . Connected with no help from LG but you can only turn on or off , see what mode it's on and some timer settings nothing else , a huge step backwards from the previous app where you were able to adjust many more settings. Why take functions away with an "update" ?? Totaly Useless app

The app was fine before the last update, I was able to connect and use my appliances normally. I recently got a new dryer and wanted to connect it but whether I scan the QR code or they to connect it manually, it just started on an infinite loading screen with switching images! Honestly app is completely broken!!!

This app should help you change settings and diagnose issues with your appliances (maybe telling you the exact model of your products). What it actually does is try to sell you more products and services, and not much else. My dryer started chiming when finished, which I'd previously turned off in the app. Either the app functionality has changed, or the UI has turned incomprehensible.

The LG ThinQ ap technically works, but requires multiple steps to connect to my TV each time. The more important issue is that it's very "glitchy" in that it plays about 4-5 seconds of video, then pauses for a fraction of a second before resuming play. The effect is jerky video when I watch MotoGP. When I use Google cast on my other TV's, I don't have this issue.

After about 6 hours this app suddenly started working after a recent update and being unable to see any devices. I'll chalk it up to server issues but a remote control app that is dependent on an outside server seems a bit iffy but without many other choices, I'll accept it (and be sure I know where the regular remotes are). Anyhow, it seems to be working again at least.

This app is useless. It used to work poorly. Now it doesn't work at all. I only get a black to screen when I try to show photos on my lg television. When the app did work, it was not for the real world. You cannot sort the photos being displayed. That means I have to scroll through a thousand to get to the ones I took yesterday. I scrolled to the bottom of a thousand photos to find I only got a black screen.

Since the last update on the application sees my washing machine but cannot do anything, such as check used cycle or download different cycle. It seems to be. Still getting notifications that cycle ended but getting a white page. Tried to uninstall and reinstall app, connect device but nothing works. Too bad, it was my favorite home appliance application.

Extremely poor performance or completely non functional on multi second delay satellite internet which actually works perfectly fine. If it hangs up and takes longer than 10 seconds to load up it requires a total restart of the app as it will never respond, often several times. It has to connect multiple times to the internet to do much of anything, and it will get stuck regularly at every other interval. However it does work, but very poorly implemented for use with longer delay internet.

Dryer app is stupid. If the dryer ends it's cycle there is no way from the app to restart it or set it to go longer because it turns itself off instantly. This is flat out stupid. Minimally the dryer should stay on for at least 5 or 10 minutes so you can restart it remotely when you know it shut off too quickly. Having to go push the power button defeats the purpose of having a remote app.

An amazing app would recommend it, but the only problem is ac doesn't go lower than 20 celsius, which is annoying. Most air conditioners are set up to 18 Celsius and there are no lights off in the mobile app! Please make 18 Celsius available. It makes a big difference in my country!
