LG Tone & Talk

Since mid November, my LG Bluetooth, model HBS-830, will not stay connected. It suddenly disconnects and re-connects about every 4 to 5 minutes constantly. Non freaking stop. I have paired and unpaired and reinstalled the app...no changes. Very frustrating. I have had the Bluetooth about 6 months and it has worked just fine until now. Very irritated.

Every time I try to connect Google Assistant it says it won't connect... I tried unpairing it and repairing it. The notification sometimes pops up but then when I fill it out it still doesn't work. Other times there's no corresponding notification. This might be a problem with Google's app I don't know. I tried the newer tone free app which also works on my neck band. Not great, but much nicer

Several years ago, this app would read my text messages and identify incoming callers, which was essential while driving. I don't know if it ever worked with Google Voice, but that is the SMS app I use now, and the only notification I'm able to get for texts is the vibration or notification sound. It won't read the text message, so it's USELESS while driving! Does anyone know if there's a way to make them compatible?

I keep getting alerts that an upgrade is available and at 23% the upgrade stops. I have tried multiple times. Also, I love that the headset reads incoming text aloud, however it also reads the text that I send aloud as well. I don't like that at all. 9/8/2021 I continue to get upgrade alerts, however the same problem persists. I have uninstalled and re-installed the app. That did not fix the issue. So I guess I will not be getting any software upgrades. Other than that, the app works great.

No longer allows phone calls by double tapping the call button. Since the latest android update, Tone & Talk won't call out. It will still say, "Calling so & so...", but then it just goes back into standby. The only way it works now is if you physically have the Time & Talk app open when double tapping the call button. This is a TERRIBLE inconvenience for someone that has to make calls without holding the phone itself!

I loved this app up until I reinstalled it after resetting my phone. The Notification Settings became greyed out. I have spent several hours in phone settings and cannot figure out how to turn on the voice read back features for incoming texts or headset vibration notifications(2nd biggest reason for wearing a headset) Not sure if there was an update that disabled this or what. I love the battery, comfort, and functionality of this headset. I can go 2 or 3 days between charging.

My main issue with the app (and it could be related to the hardware, LG Tone Flex, though unlikely) is that certain app notifications do not respect the notification sound chosen in my settings. For example, I use "Stepping Stone" (an LG ringtone) for my work email app (Boxer) and "Starlite" (another LG ringtone) for incoming calls from a group of contacts. When I get an email while my headset is paired, it plays Starlite rather than Stepping Stone. Otherwise, great app!

It worked well for me for years. still right now it won't turn on. Revised:. This app is fantastic, I've always loved this LG bluetooth headset. The sound on the music is a phenomenal! FINAL REVISION: volume much Lower, Doesn't Read Out Messages anymore. Don't like fact I must now have buds in constantly otherwise I miss a call. Very disappointed..

I used to love this app when i was driving and had my bluetooth connected. I was able to utilize it to read and reply to my messages all hands free. Now i noticed it only reads messages and doesnt allow me to respond w a reply. WHAT A TOTAL WASTE!!!! One the plus side my bluetooth last for days and i see the battery percentage on the homescreen. Thats why it has two starts.

Works well enough but is there a way to stop it from reading hyperlinks? Its kind of annoying and unnecessary to hear the entire text of a hyperlink read lout letter for letter including symbols. You can stop it but it defeats the purpose of the app to unlock the pone and look at the notification in order to avoid hearing all 460 characters read out one by one.

I LOVE this app, and is the sole reason I've bought 4 or 5 LG headsets. However, the latest update has added some new bugs. This is on a Samsung S6 Active running Android 7.0 paired with an HBS-750: - It vibrates as it should when new messages come in. But now it also vibrates again as messages go from unread to read. Unnecessary. - When ending the call from checking voicemail (no other calls), the voice notification will re-read an recent (but not always the last) text message 3 or 4 times! Very annoying, especially if it's a long one.

When reading messages, app insists on notifying and reading the messages twice. When attempting to double tap to call favorite or designated contact, the app only announces the contacts name but does not place the call. I've reinstalled numerous times, checked all permissions, even did complete system restore on phone and tried 3 different LG HBS-930 Tone-pro headsets. Same issues. I am a professional driver and one touch operations with text read out are essential. Please fix this app.

When I first started using the app it worked great. However now not so much. My headphones connect to my phone but the app keeps telling me to connect. When I open the app I am not able to change notifcation settings. I can play music and talk on phone but my messages are not read like they are supposed to.

This is one app I use constantly since the app notifies me and reads the texts to me. My 2 recent LG Tone headsets HBS-SL5 and HBS-XL7 have a greatly improved sound quality although some of my devices don't support them. I always keep my headsets charged since I do long consultations. I like being able to switch between phone and music and having my texts read to me while I am doing other things. This app is indispensable.

Overall I love this app! However, since the last update, you can no longer tell it to stop reading a text. If I'm listening to something, I want to be able to tell it to stop reading so I can get back to listening. Please put that feature back. Ok. So there was another update yesterday, & it not only won't let me stop it from reading, but now it will notify me saying "new message" and it reads the messages I sent out. Not very happy with this app at the moment.

App keeps telling me I need to update the software on my headphones. It downloads the update to my phone, but everytime it tries to send the update to the headphones, it gets stuck at 23%, EVERYTIME. I've tried it several times over several weeks and it NEVER works. Not when connected to wifi or anything.

Updated: HBS-750 on a Moto G Power. The main purpose of this headset is for concalls, and has been very good up until the last few updates. Text notifications stopped working for the last few updates. After installing another chat app, started working. When activating yet another app under notifications, lost the ability to have my texts read. So, maybe, the programming is not properly enumerating the available applications, so is not speaking the correct notifications.

From when it was LG BT reader until now this app has only gotten consistently worse. You used to be able to specify voice packs so speech was read back in a regional accent. Now it reads all alerts twice. Sometimes several times if you get multiple messages from the same app at the same time. This is likely due to Android changing notification processing with ver11, but I've paid around 800+ for their excellent headphones (best on the market IMHO) and expect better customer support.

Had this for about 2 years now. They cannot keep up with the new technology. Text read outs never work anymore even after countless updates and for some reason, the volume is a lot lower than it used to put out. This may be due to my older model, idk. Either way, this app never works right.

I've had this Bluetooth for over a year before I knew about the app. Download the app to update the Bluetooth, great. Love the added features but it won't allow me to update after that one time.. STOPS AT 23% and I've been trying for 4 months now, still nothing. I won't say that it's a bad product because it still works great but I won't receive any updated new features it may offer or maybe it's none, that's why it doesn't work. This app worked fine for years until my phone was forced onto Android 10. Now, the ability to make phone calls from the headset, using the Favorite Contacts feature, does not work. I have tried factory resetting the headset and uninstalling/reinstalling Tone & Talk. This is an issue with LG's app not working with Android 10, because I've seen users on here with different phones than mine (Galaxy S10) having the same problem. Please fix this. I loved the safety of not having to look to make calls

I've had the hbs930 headset for over a year. I never had a problem with them and was using them with the LG v40 thinq phone. I just upgraded to the LG v60 thinq 5G. The problem is that if the BT is connected, my notification sounds for messages will only play through the BT and only vibrate the phone but my notifications work just fine if the BT is off. Please tell me how to fix this because it is very irritating to only hear them if the earbud is in my ear at all times and I refuse to do that.

Come on LG - I realize you are a Korean multi-national, but really, you can't afford to have someone who will prevent you from writing muddy unintelligible English on your apps?! This is what I get when I open Tone & Talk: "You are not able to operate the Tone & Talk App with the additional connected smartphone." What the heck does that mean? I'm already "operating" the Tone & Talk App because that's the app on my screen giving me this crazy message. I don't have an "additional" smartphone - I have one smartphone. Period. What you really should say is - 'Although your smartphone is connected to your LG-Tone & Talk-compatible headset, our app is broken and won't do anything and there's nothing more to say about why or what to do now.' Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn't. Most of the time it doesn't. With this app, the headset itself has issues with pairing, staying connected to the phone, etc.

The app was not originally required in order to use these headphones with my Samsung note9. Now that it IS required, the headphones no longer pair with my phone. If they DO, they show up as an "input device", and there is no option to select using them for anything else ( like calls and audio). This app has rendered my headphones useless.
