LG Wi-Fi Speaker

Recent updates seem to have made this app a little more reliable, which is great. However it's still missing functionality normally found on the remote like the equalizer/speaker level settings. For example, you can set your subwoofer volume, but not adjust the bass levels, which is disappointing. The volume slider is also terrible. I don't know why they didn't opt for a simple, reliable plus/minus.

after jumping through numerous hoops to get this app to connect to my sound bar and speakers, it disconnects in less than 5 minutes, and the nightmare begins again. LG themselves claim there is nothing wrong with the app, like any big company all THEIR problems are someone else's. a complete waste of time. the SK10Y and SPK8 are going back and will be replaced with products that actually work as advertised.

A surprise app update arrived, but the app is still as junky. SK10Y wired to my router, Moto G phone on wireless; I can directly cast to the sound bar, yet the app still can't see the bar after successfully connecting once or twice over several weeks. Menus are clunky, and what's with the horrible English verbiage? International co. like LG and they don't have a localization team?? Menu descriptions often read "It will...(function)" who has ever seen something like this from a top-tier brand!??

Not sure why everyone dogs on this app, it's been spot on for me. I can adjust every speaker zone (not independent speakers), and works every time I use it. The thing I like most is the ability to adjust each zone instantly depending on the film I'm watching. Could do with independent speaker adjustment for people like me, with a left and right rear channel not equidistant. All in all a good app, with a few trimmings missing.

Works for me... usually. When I tried to connect this app to the speaker for the very first time, it wouldn't detect the speaker. I tried a bunch of stuff, and nothing worked. Then I tried again later that day, and that time it worked. The app has successfully connected to the speaker pretty much every time since then, but I have no idea what changed. Despite the app (eventually) working for me in my case, I trust and agree with everyone else's complaints. LG really needs to fix those issues.

It's getting a lot of 1 star reviews because setup is a nightmare as you have to connect to the speaker's WiFi hotspot before you can set it up on your network. By the time you can finish, the phone will disconnect because this WiFi doesn't have her access. So initial setup is a pain. It works better if you connect the speaker using Ethernet. Once connected it works fine but the speaker modes could use an explanation. Why is he blast default? Why not standard? What more works better for tv, music, etc? LG didn't put much thought into the speakers or the app.

Barely works. Google Assistant completely broken. LG decided Google Assistant voice recognition should be OFF when the sound bar is being used for television. You need to push the button on the sound bar or remote to make it work. Absolutely baffling and totally useless for controlling the TV. It's the stone ages of hauling around a remote all over again. This app doesn't have much more thought put into it. The setup steps are a disaster and the sound bar vanishes between uses. Total failure.

Some of the settings don't appear to do anything, night time mode and auto volume for example, being my biggest concerns. So most the time we either don't watch movies/TV shows or don't use the sound bar because the dynamic volume can't be controlled (constantly turning it down as we have young kids). It's a crappy experience. The sound bar switches between optical and HDMI even though my only input is HDMI. So that leaves me with multiple times I end up turning my tv on without hearing sound. The Chromecast feature is very spotty as well. I have instances where I lose connection with the app I'm casting from and the speaker so then I just have music playing that I can't control. I've had this app for almost a year and I have yet to see a good update. I should have gone Sonos. Do better LG.

No clear understanding of what to do when problems arise. Sound from TV is not coming out of speakers. There is no trouble shooting suggestions. The drawing is very simple in the direction booklet. When trying to connect wi-fi woofer, a tone will tell you if you are connected. App asked if i heard tone. I pressed no. Then app said to manually connect. What a nightmare. Still ni tone. But tried to turn on music anyway. To my surprise I was connected even though there was no tone.

As has been pointed out, this app is ridiculously flakey. However there's no alternative. If it loses connection, press the google button on the remote. This "wakes" something and the speaker reappears in the app. Anyhow the main reason to have this app would be to see the current status of the bar and in particular the media playing (codec, bitrate etc). Doesn't do that.

When it works it's very good. But at least once a month my sound bar is no longer located by the app, therefore I can't use the app. I can Cast to it, but it doesn't show up in the LG App. After plugging and unplugging the sound bar several times, they eventually sync back up.

So many issues. The app won't find my soundbar after I've changed out my router to WiFi 6 thinking that would solve the interference issus. The soundbar (SN11RG) itself seems to have its own issues. Switches on its own to HDMI 1 from E-Arc when I change inputs. I need it to stay on E-Arc. The only way to get around this is with the app, which won't connect.

I have changed to a new router and now I can't connect to the soundbar anymore. LG SL9YG. I have already reset the wifi and successfully connected the speaker via Google home. However this app cannot find it anymore therefore I'm unable to use the in depth settings from the app. I've found several threads about this issue, going back many years. LG doesn't seem to address this MAJOR FLAW.

Should be 0 stars for this thing. It simply does not work and will not find my SN8YG sound bar. I can "kind of" connect the bar to Google Assistant, I can connect my phone directly to the sound bar access point, but the app doesn't detect anything. BEST part is you cannot use or configure the features of this sound bar, wait for it.... WITHOUT THIS APP! Just garbage. I love how you spend $1000 on a product that you cannot use without having a special app that you cannot configure. Back to the store I go with this paperweight product.

I'd recommend doing as much setup as possible manually using the buttons on your soundbar. This app is buggy and, for me, caused really weird connection-switching problems that were difficult to diagnose. In addition, LG support was useless in assisting. If you are having weird connectivity problems, try factory resetting everything and then setting up manually. I'm generally a fan of LG soundbars and speakers, but this app is THE hurdle to get over. Not sure why the bad reviews? I just purchased the LG SKC9 and connected without issue. First thing I did was update the firmware. The app even picked up my NAS drive with my music library. Very convenient. Steps I took... First make sure your WiFi is broadcasting on 2.4ghz. otherwise it may not see the wireless. Most IOT (internet of things) only use this and not 5ghz. 1. Press function button until the soundbar shows that it is in WiFi mode. 2. From the app do a search.

App provides a lot of functions when connected successfully to the speakers. But most of the time the app shows no speakers found. It takes multiple pull-down refreshes to find the connected speakers around. Moreover the app UI is so stale or old that I would like to avoid using the app. 2 features I would request is to provide the tone control of speakers and controlling rear speakers volume separately.

This "Wi-Fi" app will only connect with my SK10Y once the soundbar is connected to my router by cable. When it was new it worked just fine, but an update broke it and forced me to use a cable. Lucky for me it works out fine due to my apartment layout, but for most people a cable wont be a viable solution. LG doesnt give a damn and leaves their customers with broken products. Will not buy LG again.

Trashy app when not working, which is most of the time. App does not see my SN9YG soundbar and only does if I unplug power and hard power cycle the soundbar. Same problem as everyone else. Get it sorted LG!!! I have lots of your devices and appliances without issue, a simple app is causing a lot of headache for a lot of users.

Downloaded the app but did not read the reviews....if only!!! It initially found my lg sk9y speaker via android but within the hour had lost it and then could not detect it at all. Have spent hours trying to resolve the issue without success. Having seen previous reviews have now given up. LG....you need to rectify this App....just not good enough.

Terrible app, does not sync the connection between WiFi and Soundbar. As a result I am unable to download a firmware update to fix the speakers' low voice audio on movies. Surely a large scale electronics corporation like LG can make an app that works with their own products. I will not be buying any LG products again, poor workmanship overall.

The app works 9 time out of 10. Sometimes it won't pick up the the soundbar but thats rare. Great functionality in changing each channel. I have an SL8YG with Spk-8 add on rear channels. The biggest issue is the rear speakers, even with the setting changed to max dB in the app, they are just too low volume, give the option for more volume, no way is there 70watts coming from these...

The initial setup worked pretty easily just by following the instructions and i was also able to update the firmware on my speaker and also cast music using chromecast. i re did the whole initial setup process with an iphone which was succesful and suddenly the Android app shows my speaker and the chromecast also works. it was great that i had a work around but if all i had was an android device i doubt of i would have fixed it.

Connection issues to the soundbar seems to be a big issue with this app. LG you need to maintain your app updated. This is unacceptable! Especially when one spends a lot of money to buy one of your soundbars. I demand you look into this matter immediately. PS: Don't tell me to install & uninstall the app. I've already done that. More than once.

Unable to connect LG SK9Y soundbar...continuous failures! Please fix ASAP! UPDATE: LG has corrected the issue regarding connection problem with Android. I'm now having an issue with my soundbar not able to "mute" correctly and/or power off. Each time I power off the soundbar it will go into "mute" mode instead. I will need to press power off again for it to shut off. The "mute" button won't stay muted if you don't constantly hold down the mute button...tapping or just pressing it does not work.

This app is a ridiculous extra step for casting music to my sound bar. Took a while to set up and volume control requires I go back to this app instead of adjusting volume using the built in volume buttons on my phone (unless you like going from whisper quiet to WAY TOO LOUD in just one click). I feel like Google spoils me because they make it easy to cast to their devices.

Not bad of an app. It makes seeing and changing settings on the fly pretty easy on my phone rather finding the LG remote, switching between options I can barely make out on the LG soundbar. Could use a few more GUI touch ups but overall it works for me. My soundbar is the LG SL10YG with the latest update and connected to my Google mesh network with no VPN blockages. Wish the voice assistant volume was separate from the speaker volume. Sometimes the voice assistant is way too loud.
