The desktop pc browser version of lichess is perfect. The experience there would easily be 4 stars. The problem is the mobile app isn't good. I've lost 2 games tonight on time (I would have lost anyway even without this problem, but still) because I move my piece on my screen but the server doesn't register the move on time so it undoes the move that on my screen was clearly played in time. It's extremely frustrating. The mobile version isn't good. Stick to desktop.

Lichess is awesome. The app? Not awesome. Will often show I am connected to games without actually being connected, a huge problem in bullet when you lose 1/6 of your time "waiting" for your opponent's move. Recent update has created a new issue -- when up significant material the screen can lock up on you trying to resize itself to show captured pieces, a ridiculous way to lose on time.

Another poor app adaptation of a great website. The app version doesn't have the training exercises, the difficulty varies wildly on the same AI difficulty, and the game sometimes doesn't let you start a new game against the computer, instead bringing you back to a game that is already finished. Either broken or unintuitive. The website is awesome, this is not. Playing this on an S21+.

Online play against randoms works fine. However, it is nigh impossible to play against anyone on my friend list, due to some extremely annoying bugs that happen ONLY when playing someone from my friend list. The game lags, I have to tap multiple times to play a move, and sometimes tapping just stops working altogether. It's a nice app, but until these issues are fixed, I will not have it on my phone.

Overall its a good app. However sometimes, normally near the end of a game, it will not properly register my touches. Almost as though my touch screen is broken. I need to press a piece multiple times before it registers which results in me losing a load of time.

Besides rage quiters and poor sportmanship as this is the same on all chess apps i have played. Free unlimited puzzles and access to all study material and a solid engine for analysis makes me happy to know that there are still people out there that want to see chess grow and not necessarily their wallets. There is a option to contribute to the developers and the hard work they put in. There are streams that are accessible via the app and multiple time control tournaments 24/7

There has been no additions to the old interface in terms of background,boards,pieces etc it is therefore becoming boring in this regard. This is all about the app but the website is close to flawless.

It is the best chess app I have ever seen. In this app we can play, also study about the chess tactics. And the most impressive fact is that, many GM, IM, FM and other high profile players use this app. So, we can learn from them about the better gameplay. I really enjoy and love the lichess app. I want to say you that, if you love to play chess, you should try the lichess app. Thank you.... ❤️❤️❤️

Annoying UI issue: everything is zoomed in, so when one player has significant advantage, pieces do not fit the screen. In this case it's not possible to click on any piece. Especially annoying when you have a mate in one move..

Hoping the new anarchy chess pieces are available on mobile soon. Since I installed this engine I've been playing blitz games everyday. Everything is so fast and smooth on this app; I'm never going anywhere else. Thank-you team lichess. You must have worked very hard to make it look this easy.

Board editor isn't working. Fix this problem, please. Any options as download studies for offline will be so helpful. Add an option to "download studie" so that anyone can access a study offline. Although this app is so good. I'm enjoying :)

I been playing for a while now and I see that the rating engine is more fair than I previously though. It takes more points or rewards more depending on your performance. I previously had it at one star but now I can clearly see how wrong I was, it is really a great app and the daily challenge has really helped my game.

The best free chess app out there. Besides the slightly inflated rating system, no complaints from me. Love the analysis features, but I wish there was a bit more variety when it comes to playing against the computer.

The puzzles section is stripped of all it's features. Same with the TV section. The app has a cleaner interface than the website but lacks important features making it mostly useless. Might as well use the web browser version even though the app "feels" better. I hope they fix this.

So far the best chess support and assistance with a lot of advanced options like "analys board,continue with computer at any situation created by you,free puzzles,amazing themes and chess peices,speech notations of each move etc). Sure shot 5 stars!

Well I just played a game with two bishops on the same colour square. Went back to analyse and saw it back on the correct squares. So no longer using this app. If it's a bug, it needs to be fixed.

1_ The draw function is stupid! After one or two repetitive moves it draws the game! 3_Sometimes unwanted moves happen and I still don't know how!!! It's a disaster! 3_The toast message "Your opponent want's to play again" shows even after I close the app! This is stupid! Why don't you take care of it??? It's badly on my nerve!

This app is awful. You can't lock it in portrait or landscape, so if you move on the bed while playing it will swap the layout while draining your clock. The engineers are idiots who only accept feedback through Github because having a ticket created in app is such a revolutionary idea. Pathetic.

You have tried by creating this app, but it's lapses are annoying. It carries the stockfish engine, but plays so weak. It takes stockfish- level-eight five moves to mate in a move scenario. Please, improve on this to get a high rate from me.

When I use any other app then return to lichess app, missclicks occur and I do wrong moves.. this is very annoying. I cant chat with a friend on messenger for example without this problem happening.

It's a great app but you have to update it. Do something where we can play with strangers. We want to play with unknown people instead of playing with computer, most people want to beat human being computer and not machine. Thank you Sohrab alam

This is a must for anyone trying to become good at chess (me) or wanting to practice their skills! With free lessons, puzzles, online games, and more, lichess is the best chess app you will ever find!

Even on good internet connection, there is some delay in move play. Most often you find you are behind 10-20 seconds even if you played fast. It doesn't happen on mobile web. As a bullet player, really hate it.

Lichess I don't know what you have done to my id I am not able to play as I usually used to play. Matchmaking takes a lot of time, all of my opponents id says violated terms of use and moreover even after playing with them there is no change in the ratings. I don't know if you have banned my id for any reasons but I haven't cheated in any of the games but still facing this.

I used to 5* this app, but only 3* now. The only problem I faced is reporting engine users. Why does the link have to be provided cant the reported player's match and your match be automatically reviewed? I have played on the website so its easy to report there, but now in the app its hard since I need a link. Overall the app is the best chess app.

The website is great but the app has alot of bad and unnecessary features. For example there is no lobby, create games has fewer options compared to the website.
