Phenomenal app. Kudos to the developers for making it free. Few feedback though (1) search bar can be smaller and less (much less) opaque and the (2) overall interface when viewing info can be improved in a minimalistic way like modern apps. The app is just so useful so dont get my feedback in the wrong way. Id pay a few bucks for the nxt version 🥰 i love the landscape support pls dont take it out for the future versions.
Remarkable, impressive. Looking forward to updates and revisions as they become available. While some current research does not always completely agree with certain displayed relationships, the divergences seem to be minor. Perhaps a geologic timescale to suggest probable times of clade origins would be useful.
Fantastic app. As others have said, missing extinct animals except for a few that I saw. It would be cool if you could have a create your own entry function that we would fill out an entry and you would simply have to approve it.
This is really helpful to discover new creatures and it helps you see how each relate to another. I've been using the desktop online version for a while now, but it seems that the server is down? I downloaded this app just to check and it's also not working - it just shows the grey circle the guy before me said. Would love to continue using this, please fix it Edit: it's fixed now, thanks :)
The app interface is sort of ugly. Lots of the ranks say "no rank" as if someone hasn't had time to type them in and the way the balls of same length lines look just isn't appealing. I deeply wish they'd have more options or even customizations on how to view the tree. For example as an actual cornered tree where you could hide and open branches as you wish, miMind style. The way it is with the unclassified species being thrown in with the rest in their own balls of lines just feels unrefined.
This app attempts to do what I would consider the impossible. And so much better than I imagined it was going to be done. 5 stars if their was a paid premium option to further support updates and maybe help it run smoother. (Galaxy s9)
Amazing app for anyone interested in evolution, taxonomy, related organisms, or just curious about exploring the history and current state if life on earth. Even if you don't *need* it, install it and play with it - about as cool as it gets!
Very nice. The GUI is absolutely fantastic. You can travel from a specific species, viewing many branches along the journey, to the start of it all.
Excellent app, but whre are still much work to do ahead. For example I would like to see more extinct species and paint them enother colour (modern species are blue, extinct are yellow or so).
today I learned that chickens aren't in the database. chickens. you know, the bird, food, whatever. I searched pretty hard for it. found the gallus group, but... nothing. no chicken. :( [edit] I meant there is no Wikipedia article on chicken. I tried all the species around gallus, but it's not there. so the species isn't listed at all it seems
Incomplete. Pterosauria is missing. I even tried searching lower classifications. Pretty disappointed. Edit: Anyways, thanks for the response. The app itself is impressive, though extinct lineages are missing like Tiktaalik Roseae.
If I could dedicate a Tb of storage for a locally-stored version, could I bargain for a PC or Linux desktop copy of the app? Can you provide this as open-source so we can tailor it for our needs? Old comment: LOVE THIS THING! Anybody into biology or evolution will love it. No longer a daydream, this fully zoomable complete tree of life <3
I was really excited to check it out, but upon downloading I am not able to run the app. Application error code.... now that I can fully appreciate the app, its incredible. Thank you so much.
The scientific names of the animals are not all correct. I spent 3 minutes on the app and noticed Theraposa Blondi the Bird Eating Spider was listed as Chilean Rose Hair. Good effort tho.
Does absolutely nothing if you're offline. You'd think that the tree and species' names would at least be available while the details would require connection, but not even that is usable when there is is no Internet.
Great app. Would have given 5 star if it had a better search features . In this it needs scientific name to search . But adding common names can help starters.
A useful reference, it can be a little tricky to navigate. It amazes me how much information can be packed into a small program that fits on my phone.
Installed but doesn't run on Android tablet. Says connection to server was unsuccessful. Application error
Love it, but sadly it has not been loadable for me over the past two months. On three devices & accounts, app is unuseable 😠Please fix it before your ratings plummet.
Fantastic and unique app, only ever let down by its reliance on a central server. Maybe a P2P share of the data would work wonders.
Just perfect. I love following the branches and zooming in. We are such a minority it amazes me we presume so much.
Great app I have ever used. Some species are not available but useful. Please add dinosaurs species.
Best tree of life ever! And it comes as a super intuitive and beautifully designed app! Thank you!
Hugely helpful and user friendly! Thank you so much for developing this, it is truly a wonderful app.
Beautiful! Fascinating! Please consider a zoom-back-to-start-button :-)
Very well designed educational and reference tool
What a cool app! I've been looking for a taxonomy for my phone for years. This is the first one I've seen that does what I want.
Superb. Gets a bit laggy on my old Kindle Fire but still very usable.
Edit - Yeah man, sorry I had disabled its network acceses somehow, my bad.. great app btw
Absolutely incredible app! It has nearly every species imaginable, and looks beautiful! I could spend hours looking at the links between different species and you can click on little circles in the tree or names for a popup window of the Wikipedia page. 5 stars is not enough to rate this!
