LifeMeter (Free)

This is the free version of LifeMeter. Please read everything below for instructions and important notes*.
We at The Food Sucks are of the opinion that notions of battery life do not have to be measured with grim clinical concern. It should be FUN. Even nostalgic! Introducing LifeMeter, a widget that draws inspiration from decades of classic gaming fun and brings it to your Android device to enjoy. It takes the age-old iconic digital heart symbolizing LIFE and applies that feature to your Android device's battery. We also didn't merely draw inspiration from the meters of classic 8-bit games like Legend of Zelda and Metroid, we wanted to demonstrate that LifeMeter is capable of a modern styling too, and what better example than the health bar from a game like Skyrim!***

To make your experience special we made it *highly
* configurable, because personalizing is fun and rewarding. Just take a look at the gallery to see not only the variety of meters offered, but how you can customize most of them to your heart's content! The widgets currently comes in 1x1 and 2x1 sizes, and even offers unique meters exclusive to each size to make your experience a little more fun and interesting. Heart widgets can be tweaked; rows/columns can be adjusted, scale them if you feel they might be too big. You can align them within the widget's frame (top, lower right, center, etc). You can configure a LifeMeter widget to launch an app when tapped, or show some detailed battery info instead. You can adjust how often updates happen
- from once a minute to as little as once an hour if you want to conserve battery life
- though LifeMeter does not use a persistent service; When the phone goes into sleep mode, no updates are issued to your widget, preserving battery health.

*Do not force the install to your SD Card, install it to internal memory only!

**If you use a TASK KILLER (you shouldn't) like ATK, STK, ETK, etc, you MUST configure it to *EXEMPT*, or else it will terminate the process and your widget will appear to be stuck/not updating!

We've tested extensively on multiple devices with great results. Should your device have any trouble with it, we'll do our best to address the issues, just contact us.

We'd like to add even more meters in future updates, and we're open to suggestions
- send us an email!

**Some meters are available only in the full version.

The function and presentation of the widget is spot on, especially Super Metroid (my personal favorite). However, the size/positioning of the widget is either too big or too small and more importantly, too high or to low (within it's own space) making it unaligned/intrusive and odd with other app icons. I've used this before in the past a few times and never had this problem. This needs a little updating to keep up with newer Android OS, otherwise it would get the 5 stars it usually deserves.🤔

Cool concept but doesn't work. When you first activate the widget it shows the equivalent amount of battery but then it doesn't keep refreshing to reflect the actual amount of battery left. Shame, the visuals are so good...

Perpetually stops working and won't visually update the display which is basically all it does. Makes it useless. How hard is it to keep your app up to date? Running android 11, fresh install, all updates. What a shame. Fix your app!

Easy to set up, looks nice, but it repeatedly stops working and needed to be replaced on my home screen. Got tired of doing that, so it was time to uninstall.

Good but i wish you could expand the bar, it just is a small bar in the corner id rather be able to size it to stretch across the top of my screen. Other than that its pretty good

Not working properly after latest Android update. Cannot resize to fit at top of screen or sides, takes up too much room now.

Works exactly how it should with good customization options but it's too small. If it was scaleable, 5 stars

Works great as long as you tell android not to put the app to sleep in the battery settings.

No longer seems to work. Widget also takes more rows than it needs to.

I've had this since I've owned a Android. The fact I can't use it properly any more is a little upsetting

Widget is too small, doesn't take up as much of the screen as I'd like

Don't download it's a waste of your time.

I can't see this having any real use as the battery meter and percentage remaining are always displayed in the top bar of almost every phone. Maybe if you could replace that icon with these or something, I don't know, just seems pointless but the details like battery temp are nice I can say that.

I really like this widget so today I decided to buy the paid version. What had been bothering me about this widget was I wanted 3x1 and 5x1 sizes (the free version offers 3x2 and 2x2 only). The paid version *removes* 3x2 and 2x2, replacing them with 2x1 and 1x1. I would love to support this app, as it definitely seems to be the best heart meter widget besides this issue.

I used the free version to check it out, now I intend to buy it outright and give that $1.99 in support. 2 bucks isn't a whole lot but im sure every little bit helps. Love to see what you guys do with future updates and widgets.

But widget keeps on getting stuck. Was also wondering why the widget takes up so much space on the homescreen by default. I have to resize each time it gets stuck! Otherwise, the only app that has the Metroid energy meter, and it does a good job of it too.

Cam. K. Nov 24, 2014

It was great on my old phone (Samsung Galaxy S3) but on my Sony Xperia Z2 the widgets take up twice as much space as they are supposed to. I hope this is fixed soon & when it is I will change to 5 stars :)

I really enjoy this app. Makes it more interesting to see the battery I have remaining.Might switch and get the paid version soon. Only thing "bad" that I've noticed is that the metroid energy goes to 100 energy max instead of 99. But that's just nitpicky stuff that doesn't affect the app in anyway

I hate how everything is over priced in this market. Two bucks is a bit over priced for full version. If it was only one dollar I might buy it. As it stands the free version is great and has my favorite hearts already from Link to the Past. To people saying its not updating, I'm not having this problem at all and its relatively accurate. (Its as accurate as you'd expect from a heart bar. Better then the usual battery indicator)

I would prefer maybe 1 more alternate color besides gray, even a pinker red. But I would not have noticed that I wanted this, if I hadn't been using the app for a super long time. Which I have been, cuz its awesome.
