LightsOut - load shedding App South Africa
This App is easy to use. It tracks the Eskom load shedding status for you and notifies you when any thing changes. Get full access to the 31 day Eskom schedule for your area for all stages of load shedding and explore as many areas as you like.
Areas covered include all Eskom Direct customers and major South African Metropolitan areas. More metros will be added in future updates.
Note: This is NOT an official App from Eskom, its a third party app that shares load shedding schedules which are publicly released by Eskom in a beautiful way.
Disclaimer: Eskom is a public Electricity company in South Africa and load shedding is the process of turning off certain areas of the grid when demand exceeds supply. Eskom has a planned schedule of how load shedding happens and this schedule is publicly available to everyone who needs it. The data in the App is periodically sourced from Eskom and municipalities and it is subject to change without notice. The accuracy of the app is entirely dependent on the data supplied by Eskom to the public.

Ok, but some issues as follows. Cannot set a home location. Weekly schedule heading & time slot are conflicting, e.g. head would say "stage 2" and time slot would say "no load shedding". Fixed monthly schedule doesn't include stages higher than stage4. App doesn't give proper error message/notification when added location limit is reached - have to guess. Daily schedule reliability suspect, e.g yesterday most apps said no shedding for 2day & city power issued stage 2 notice yesterday already.
I have added my location 3 times on app. It does not save the location. When I open app I must add location again. Thanks you I have reinstalled the app. Added my town and closed it. I tried to open it but it crashed.
Not user-friendly at all seems to have a problem in finding your location, not impressed at all, waist of time, effort and data
This app has all the schedules wrong, it has not updated to the new zones or times. Totally useless app.
We had Norkempark on all our apps, but now it just disappeared. We work and hope we are done in due time.
Great App. It just don't show all the load shedding time
My schedule was not accurate. I ended up buying hot chips and fish for no reason.
Always wrong in my area...can no longer be as a result of Eskom failing to update Lights out!
Rated 4 Stars...So Far I've Seen No Problems With This App...It Updates Me With My Daily Load Shedding Schedule...I Really Like This App But At First While I Read The Reviews I Thought It Was A Useless App Until I Took A Risk, But Wow Its Super Cool Guyz...Just Keep Updating It If You Can Your Work Is Appreciated
Time shedule in Tshwane were moved to be between even hours about a month ago. Example ,11:00-13:30 changed to 10:00-12:30. The app is not showing updated shedule.
Incorrect time schedules, last I checked the usual time for load shedding is at even not odd.
Not accurate, it's a No for me.We had load shedding at 10:00and the app shows load shedding will start at 13:00.
It downloads installs and then loads to 100% and thats it. Doesnt go past that.
On searching Meadowridge & Bergvleit. This app does not have the above 2 suburbs that are in the Cape Town southern suburbs
Too many ads. There are better apps that do the job nicely.

This app is total "Rubbish" . Boot screen lights up and then you wait !!!!! as it is "Getting Started".
Silly app doesn't even have Kempton Park let alone its suburbs like edleen, Aston manor etc.... terrible

Areas are confusing and not correct
Loadshedding times for my area (Heidelberg, Gauteng) are not accurate. Times are out with a hour
Its weath 3 star it's kind of genius and good app I love it so much it gives me information more easy

Useless. Schedule is never correct.
Very nice looking interface but the execution needs more work. The location disappears each time the app is reloaded. Often the app simply doesn't open and hangs on the start up splash screen. Please fix and I will happily try it again.
