A brilliant resource to accompany any language learner interested in Mandarin. Just to name a few, the app provides not only the words, as any other dictionary would, but gives examples of them in correct context, which in my experience is vital to learning any language. It is truly great, I definetly recommend it.
The app seems safe given the source, but it's offputting that it asks for access to all files as soon as it's opened with no explanation. This is apparently to download its database immediately after said permission is granted. I only use it for the daily Chinese sentences since it's mostly useless as a dictionary for traditional Chinese keyboard users because searches won't match on traditional Chinese-only characters. For that purpose, I'd still recommend it.
This app really helps me to improve my Chinese skills, especially writing Chinese characters!๐๐ Thank you for creating such an awesome app. Keep up the good work guys! I have one suggestion on the usability: - when I search words in English and the app returns the result in Chinese, it would be great if I could just click on the word and get redirected
For the longest time I had considered this dictionary as tops, and until recently I would have rated it as 5 star. However, the online version recently stopped it's function of giving word definitions when the Hanzi is selected. A yellow background would pop up and one could learn deeply. That drove me to the app. It is now on my tablet, and the light gray text for the pinyin is absurd. Nor does the pop up definition of Hanzi work. This is a great downgrade. Disabling pop up blocker no good.
There's no option for traditional Chinese characters. Perhaps, due to the historical and academic importance of Chinese, excluding this option was an oversight. Further, many Chinese users, and others rely on traditional characters. Due to economic, academic, and intellectual reasons, perhaps the option could be included in the next big fix.
The best for advanced learners. I used to prefer Pleco at the very beginning of my chinese learning journey, now that I'm making my first steps into Hsk 6, I realize LINE is much superior in terms of richness of example sentences (more natural ones), and individual word definition. The daily learning with proverbs and daily expressions is a great addition, I learn something interesting from it everyday, it keeps me motivated. Finally, the tts is also great. I'm really happy I found this app.
Amazing dictionary and I love the daily new items to learn! Only point I'd have is the handwriting recognition could be better, the lines are too thin. Making the line width dependent on the writing speed also makes it feel more real! Hope to see this in this app.
Android and desktop versions are great! I use it along with Pleco. Unlike Pleco this one offers more examples of translation. BTW tried to use it on iPhone but it is useless rubbish with bunch of bugs, constant "Page not found". And I wish they would add traditional characters support.
Ever since high school, I've stopped learning Chinese and found it difficult to learn new characters since it's a chore to find a physical dictionary at hands reach. This made learning and identifying new characters so much easier!
This a great chinese dictionary/ttanslating app. It gives sentences as an example for the words that you looked up, However many of the tranlstaion he translation are inaccurate and wrong. For the translation for words, some are fairly accurate and some are misleading which means it gives the wrong translation to the words, if you are a student trying to learn chinese and you are desprate to learn the words but the examples and the translation are wrong from the app the app will give no help.
High praise for your help. It really helps me find words Chinese to English or vice versa. It delivers 'most of the time', so it is 4 stars, hopefully it can keep on striving towards perfect 5 stars! Thanks again! Keep up!
I quite like Line dictionary. It has some really nice features. I like the social learning aspect of the "Daily Chinese" part. The sentence analyser is also really nice. As a stand alone dictionary its really very good.
If you're looking for the best Chinese-English dictionary, then look no further. This app is so easy to use and you can do so much with it. All the features are so unique and well organized. I can spend the whole day learning chinese with it. Thank you for this application!
Constantly unable to download with connection error, in spite of multiple tries and with different Wi-fi settings. A pity since I enjoyed the previous version a lot.
Just a feedback, this app works fine when my default storage is set to internal storage. Once i set my storage to sd card, this app will not work. Please try to fix this. I am using huawei nova 2i.
Please update the app to be compatible with Android 11, it keeps saying that DB file can't be downloaded. I can no longer use the app after updating my Pixel 4XL to Android 11. Please fix this bug soon. Thank dev team!
My go-to app for looking up Chinese-English words. There's an app with which I can draw a Chinese character and it recognize the character and take me to this dictionary. The two app combined is a perfect for my Chinese studying
Very useful for looking up characters you've never seen before, or finding the pronunciation of characters you know but have forgotten the pronunciation.
This app is good to be honest, but I thought its just a simplified characters. I couldn't found few characters then I know it is a traditional characters.
Very good app, can draw the word easily to find its pronunciation and meaning, very convenient!
Have used it for 3 years and while it's not perfect, it's a necessary tool for early mandarin learners.
Just when I opened jumps out to rate, even before using it. Offline is very limited, otherwise ok. Hand writing only online option. I will continue with hanping pro
Dictionary is clear and accurate and I love the long list of example sentences. I also like the phrases of the day.
Some words have no sound. Anyway, this is a good app between Chinese-English. Especially for learners . Good examples. Thanks!
I love it, especially the sentence analyser feature! Would be great if you could add the (8000) most common words a real human pronunciation! Good luck
I've always liked this app and I appreciate all the work that's been done in this app. However, I unfortunately don't like the text-to-speech voice that reads the sentences. The voice sounds very robotic and unclear. Back in the days for a long time, LINE dictionary used to have a clear, authentic accent. It would be nice if there was an option to have that text-to-speech voice back.
