I really like the way in which languages are acquired by using this app. It's a totally different approach than other apps and there are real texts we are learning from so what we are learning is the language in its more natural setting. Plus, it may feel like just passive learning but because the texts are real and the process of trying to attain comprehension is an active one, I find this quite effective.

The "continue studying" tiles are a bit annoying to use because I always finish the lesson and the tile stays on the lesson I've already completed. So, when I come back, I have to open the lesson then skip to the next lesson. I wish the tile would just change to the next lesson. Other than that, and with the new update, the app is excellent.

This seems to be an excellent way to learn languages, I'm so glad I found it! Update: I've been using this almost a year now and I'll definitely renew my subscription. The words, the playlist, the content i create for myself, it really helps me learn my target language, all the time mentally, aurally, visually. It's great for studying a little here & there during the day, which is how i usually have to do it, & it's equally great for a solid hours long session. Genius way to learn a language.

It's really good app, I'm learn a lot the words and phrases. Thanks to add copy option(I try out and it's working ok on my smartphone). * Font size need to show a number, it will easy to find good size. *Some lingq lessons( for example "Who is She?") need better synchronization, when play audio in sentence mode the audio is off. Obs : I'm learning Chinese.

I like this app. It flows very well and I'm learning lots of new words. There are still parts of the app that I don't fully understand but there's lots of good instructional material available. UPDATE: 10 months later, I'm still using the Lingq app. I have advanced from A1 to B2. I can communicate with Spanish speakers much better now. I really think that this year I will be able to communicate with ease. There is more and more good content available in Lingq every day.

This is my favorite way to study Japanese. There are several pre-set study courses, but the best feature is the ability to import Japanese media from YouTube, web pages, or podcasts. Just a few clicks and the media is transcribed in Japanese with high accuracy. Then I can read along while listening to podcasts that interest me. The mobile app syncs with the desktop web page version. I use both to study. I recommend this to anyone above a basic language level in your second language.

This app clearly wasn't made for phones. I honestly loved lingq to begin with so I bought a one month subscription. After using the desktop version I decided to also give the phone version a go and WOW. I was astonished at how terrible it was. The first thing I saw was a completely glitched tutorial and then when I finished that I saw that terrible UI in sentence mode. I've seen the iPad version and it is much better. If you want to use lingq, then use it on desktop or tablet.

Very good for easy lookups for beginner to early intermediate learners. However, lots of annoying extras like coins and streaks (not to mention the bugs) that detract from the reading experience. Selection of reading material on the app is poor, and ebook import no longer works for me, so have had to cancel. This meant I had to manually delete all my lessons and data (unless I pay $2 a month), so Lingq has guaranteed that I'll never return to this service.

Its better than other apps. Flashcards and vocabulary lists dont work well for me. Reading graded stories helped so I figured this would be a good fit & I was right. This is a great resource because it has stories, articles, podcasts & anime to learn from. I hope it continues to benefit me! not sure how to import lessons & ebooks from kindle on the app. I don't think it has the option yet.

I swear by this app and I'll be using it for years to come. It lets you see and hear the language as it's actually used, and I learn so much better by reading things I personally enjoy instead of having to do a lot of grammar exercises. The interface and reading collections are laid out a little confusingly, but you get used to it, and the ability to import ebooks and other materials is fantastic.

LingQ is a wonderful learning tool. However, the android application is very cumbersome and frustrating to use since the major GUI overhaul. Some issues I'm having, 1. Audio isn't always synced correctly to the lesson in sentence mode. 2. Audio for an entire lesson has played indefinitely without being able to stop it. I had to kill the app. 3. Assistive dialogue audio during reviews often doesn't work. 4. Automatic progression on reviewed vocabulary words does not work. Please fix.

Using free Ukrainian course right now, kudos for that! I find the concept interesting and fairly engaging after a few hours. While the units start very basic, the grammar guide (which I jumped to to better grok alphabet and pronunciation) is quite brief could certainly use a bit more context and examples. Having already learned a few languages, I knew what I was looking for so it was ok, but a beginner might get shut down without more background on alphabet, case, aspect, tense, etc.

Great language learning app. If you are at the point where language classes and Duolingo aren't really furthering your knowledge of the language anymore, this is the app to take you that next step. Just stick with it. I wish it had more features and felt more polished as it is kinda rough and it's hard to find content right for you, but I can live with it, especially given its unique method of teaching.

I really wanted to like this app because it's a great idea but it hasn't been implemented well. I had the paid version. The user experience is poor and really frustrating to deal with. The design is all over the place. The interface is crowded and not intuitive. There are errors with the audio and translations not matching the texts. Maybe I'll try it again in a year or two..

Effective but counter-productive. As much as I respect and appreciate Steve I do not respect this app in the same way. Non-premium users can only look up 20 words a day which may seem useful but when you are reading news articles, books, etc. And, as a beginner, it is difficult to understand the words, especially at times when you really should be able to look them up.

This learning technology that Stephen promotes really resonates with my experience. And lingQ does an excellent job implementing these methods to help us learn in a more enjoyable and fast way. The browser version lacks a few features (like adding new words to dictionary) but it's totally usable anyway. P.S.: Thank you so much for giving a free premium access for Ukrainians!

Very limited how much you can do before you have to pay on a rolling subscription. It looks good but I would like to try more before I commit for example finding what else I can import. I'll stick to DuoLingo for now as you can't just buy a 1 month trial unless you remember to cancel it again.

I find this far more useful than Duolingo. The sentences are real things you might talk about. The lesson I just completed was shoe shopping: prices, too small-too big, try them on, colors of shoes, expensive/cheap. The lesson before that was about working in an office: how late you stay, when you take lunch, if you have a lot of meetings during the day or not. I think they're great and you get exposed to multiple points of view in the story - 3rd person, 1st person.

Editing to a lower grade. I knew the number of LingQs was limited for a free user, but I thought it meant the app saving those words - not you looking at their meaning! It won't show you the meaning of new words - which is the main feature of the app! - if you're over the quota which is so small that you can't have a single proper lesson! And the price is high. This feels so unfair. Either enable free users to see (but not memorize) unlimited words, or at least drastically increase the quota.

Love the service, basically the best language learning tool on the planet, but unfortunately the performance on Android on my pixel 4A is very bad. Often doesn't load, or is completely unusuable. I also use it on desktop and love it and use it on iPad and love it. No issues over there. I recommend a different platform to use this service. Staff are very pleasant too

Truly my favorite language app. I actually feel like this app could take my reading and listening to fluency levels. The writing and speaking side of it is expensive, but you can use another app to get this done, so I still give it 5 stars. I'm over 3,100 words in Spanish now and I really feel better at Spanish.

Rya. May 25, 2022

I love LingQ but for the app I can only give 3 stars as it is missing, in my opinion, one of the most important essential features, it doesn't display the unknown word % under new texts which is my primary guide to selecting new material.

the best thing since sliced bread... honestly need this app in your life if you're learning a language! the longer you use it the more you realize it can do! I'm importing my university lessons and its made the whole experiences oh so much easier and more accountable, approachable, entertaining, all the positive adjectives right here
