Fine as a flash-card app. Don't expect anything else from it. No justifications for why certain words are chosen over others (connotation, etc)--apart from "that's the one in our database". Just dull (often VERY short-looped) repetition w/o context or variation. Would be decent If it was free; Definitely not worth paying for, and DEFINITFLY not for as much as they charge. Seemed great; Is not. Maybe some day...
Lingvist was one of the apps i tried after finishing a duolingo course. It quickly stood out from the other apps i was trying, & was what i ultimately stuck with. It focuses on word integration. The system Lingvist uses far outweighs other apps ive used, as rather than focusing solely on memorization, it also focuses on your ability to truly recall words youve memorized. Ive suggested ideas via the in app feedback utility, & have been proud to see some of them utilized and integrated! 11/10 app!
As someone already mentioned, the "audio off" option doesn't work anymore. When playing music, the audio from this app keeps interrupting. I reported this problem immediately after discovering it and a whole week has gone by, still not fixed.
Wrong french pronunciation, for example "femme". Free trial only if you subscribe for a year! There is no trial for a month subscription. It sounds unfair for me. Don't recommend to learn french with this app unless you know the correct pronunciation.
Would be 5. However, the speech input button, in app, doesn't work, on my tablet, half the time. And when it does... It takes forever to process. Such a bummer for this app, because I really love the Spanish courses. 😟🥺😞
Does not work on S22 Ultra. Crashes/locks the phone if you touch it, or if there's only a shortcut on your home screen, even when it's not running. Had to uninstall in order to use my phone. (Android 12, One UI 4.1)
As a longtime (on and off) Duolingo user, I appreciated that this app assesses your skill level as you answer quizzes. I like that the sentences sound more like what you might see and hear in real life as well. The layout feels good and well thought of. Sometimes when you're guessing new words, you might enter a word that works and has a similar meaning, but it's counted as wrong - it doesn't give you that "you entered a similar word" message. Not sure what counts as similar and what doesn't.
By far the nicest user interface out of any language learning app I've tried! At least for the Russian course the content seems to be well thought out. One part I do not like is that the words seem to always repeat within the exact same phrase, so you end up associating the required word with the surrounding phrase rather than the meaning of the word itself.
The app is great, and I love using it. I like how it keeps vocabulary fresh in my mind. However, there is one huge issue with it: uneven distribution of new words. One day, I'd do a 100 cards without any new words; the next, I would get 40-48 new words out of 50 cards. This unevenness can be very overwhelming. It would be a 5 star app without that problem.
They test your brain, but they are game-players on their clues, which might be good for the brain, but not useful for learning a language, which is what I desire. Like most language learning apps, they have most lessons indoctrinating you into being left of center and woke. If you crave that, so be it. It makes me annoyed.
Really great exercises to use as a standalone program or even better, in conjunction with other apps as a review. The customer service is absolutely phenomenal. I highly recommend Lingvist and I just wish I had more time in my day to spend on it...
It's really good for learning vocabulary I just wish I could type out entire phrases instead of just individual words, I feel like you'd make it easier to learn verb conjugations and idioms
I have downloaded multiple language apps, and this one is the best. it adjusts to my learning style and keeps showing me new words until I get them down. This is a must have for language learning
Not that worth it in the end. I've bought a subscription to this twice and both times I've cancelled it after a month. The vocabulary in the app is great, but this stuff about 50 questions is too much! I'm looking to refresh my mind when I've got a spare moment, not do a day's worth of coursework! Much better to continue with self study and use another app for a little word dusting here and there. Not everyone has the time or even the patience to be on a phone app for 50 questions.
I like the app so far. It's not exactly the best app to learn grammar, but it does help you build a library of new words in your target language. If I could ask for one thing for the developers to add is to add latin. I would absolutely be over the moon if this wish becomes true.
I think it's good for what it is, practicing words individually. But without other learning methods too your unlikely to get far. Still I like the app.
good app, matches my learning style, price is fair since you get 5000+ flash cards with pictures and pronunciation. only thing id want is for a slowed down pronunciation button
U get something like Google translate to hear the wording, i dont think thats worth the price since those Mashine Speech isnt made to give you the right wording. If there is a billing plan u should bring it up right in description. Its 9,99/month or 79,99/Year
I currently don't have money to spend on my hobbies, but when I do I will be sure to buy this subscription. From what I did experience, it would be incredibly easy to do implement this into my schedule.
Looks like a good app but way too expensive and no way to test it fully without signing up for free trial. Shame because I might not have uninstalled it if I could have continued to use it even just at a demo level. And I probably would have bought it outright for a quarter of the price.
It's a good flash card app. But there is nothing else to it. It's not worth the month. You can get the same thing with a free app and a little extra work which could count more to your learning. I thought paying money would mean I would experience more but you won't
I like the app and had fun learning, but don't expect too much content in the "Next level English" course. I finished it in around 8 hours. But I got a full refund, which I give them credit for!
If you're at high enough a level in your language of choice, I would highly recommend this app. That said, this app currently starts at high enough a level of grammar that it leaves far to many people I facilitate for unsupported, so I cannot recommend it across the board at least for time being. Would love to see that change, as I can see this learning experience being beneficial to many.
I find this app really useful for learning new words quickly. The algorithm is very smart at understanding when and how often you still need to practice a word. Definitely worth a try!
Really want to love it. I like the learning method and despite being a slow learning, it's really helping things click for me. I also like the dark mode. That said, after almost every word it closes my keyboard. The keyboard then refuses to come up on the next word. I've found to get it back up I need to go back to my home screen and open the app again. I've even tried switching keyboards. It makes it frustrating to use unfortunately :/
