Live Traffic Info

*********We welcome your feedback. Please visit our website (link below) and take a couple of minutes to complete our short survey in order to help us improve the experience of our mobile app.****************
* Check how the traffic is flowing on motorways and major A roads in England with official information live from the Highways England National Traffic Control Centre.PLEASE NOTE: This app only contains information about the roads we manage in England. Other smaller roads in England are managed by local authorities. Trunk roads and motorways in Scotland are the responsibility of Transport Scotland; those in Wales of the Welsh Assembly Government. This App will use your current location to give you the traffic news when and where you need it. Plan your journey, reduce congestion, lower emissions and arrive safe and less frustrated.Official data is collected from thousands of vehicle monitors, CCTV and patrol reports to show where Highways England network is flowing well and to keep you up-to-date with traffic incidents as they break throughout the day.The information covers unplanned incidents such as accidents and congestion, plus lane closures and other restrictions due to improvement works. Advance notice of future essential roadworks is given wherever possible.KEY FEATURES:
Search Allows the user to search for Incidents, current-road works and future road works, using 4 search options: Near You, Region, Motorway or A-Road. The facility to see all the events on all of Highways England Roads is included under ‘All of England’

FlowA new feature. This option provides a view of the traffic flow on any of the Motorways in England. The user can then tap a ‘view’ button to review the motorway junction to junction information in detail. The user can share information about any event of interest using the social media options on their phone.

CCTVThis allows the user to search and view any of the CCTV’s on the Highways England Network. A current still image is shown, the image can be updated after 1 minute.

RoutesThe user can now input a route using location name, address or postcodes. This feature uses the Google route finder to identify the available routes and the route will be displayed on a Google Map. Notifications can be added for chosen routes.

ReviewThe review screen enables the user, when not driving, to review the status of a route. They can scroll the list of events or they can zoom the map in or out.

Drive The user can drive with or without a planned route. When driving without a planned route the user will be informed about all the Highways England events on the roads around them. The most common approach is to drive with a route. Then the App will only show the known events on the Highways England roads along that route.------------------------------------------Your phone must be connected to the internet (mobile 3G/4G/GPRS or wireless) to access live traffic information. To use the location based features of the app, you must have a GPS enabled phone. Notifications are pointless! I have one route programmed in to receive alerts. When I receive a notification of a closure I load the route and there is never any closure showing. So either there is no closure, and the notification is pointless, or the closure isn't displayed. I often find I'm having to look for information elsewhere. Would also be useful if I could see advanced closures so I'm not having to find an alternative route in the middle of the night.

Nice idea but poorly executed. Routes cannot be adjusted. The route I take to work is different to the routes that I can choose from, so information is rather pointless. If I drive without a route then I get bombarded by information that irrelevant again rather pointless and I does not work with Android Auto, so again what's the point? Just downgraded to 1 star

Hmmm.. cluttered, messy, over complicated interface. What is an exclamation mark in a red triangle???? Also, in "Drive" it says "No delays" but at the bottom in "News" it says "serious collision, road closed"!!! This is Beta software. AA live traffic is so much simpler.

I only wanted to check roads before I set out on a journey, difficult to use and automatically thinks you are driving so restricts your use of the app. You can't even scroll down the screen!

The data provided is useful but is a pain to access the same area each time. A widget to show flow and/or traffic cameras would really add value to the app

Rubbish, route planner doesn't work. The only thing that works is going to search a selecting motorways. Also violates GDPR as it refuses to do anything without access to GPS and anonymous usage statistics switch on

Like your diversions in the real world, your routes go round in circles. Please fix the app, or better still, fix the road network so we don't need the app.

1. App routinely does not include major traffic works including (planned) total closures. 2. HE's website lists as "minor" roadworks which involves delays of upto 2 hours... 3. Use of the app whilst driving is prohibited (very sensible) but the information given as current does not include planned closures which are due to start during a journey. To be any use it must cover planned closures during a journey when drivers set off. As a some proxy anything within (eg) the next 4 hours.

Inaccurate data !! tells you no delays when in fact you are in queue going 10 mph on the M25 and overhead signs are on, but app reports they are not. Useless use AA website as its more accurate and helpful.

This app is often missing the information it's supposed to give. Never, ever believe what it says. It either gives wrong dates for closures or doesn't say a closure is taking place at all. No help at all!!!

Effing Useless l checked this piece of garbage before setting out on a trip from Peterborough to Leeds, the app showed no road closures but in reality the A1, was closed from the A606, near Stamford to A607, Grantham, following the posted diversion through Melton Mowbray added 40 minutes and 25 miles to my journey the app is a waste of of time and definitely not fit for purpose.

Dreadful. Clumsy navigation. Mapping hopeless. Roadworks I know are currently there are simply not shown. Uninstalled.

Rubbish, Serco originally developed this for the the HA and the initial site was good and made logical sense, since HE as it is now took over responsibility (civil service) it has got worse in usefulness in each succeeding year, now to a point it's hopeless. Why does one want to see information of roadworks that are scheduled but not actually active, the site is used for a live environment not a planned one two thirds of which never go ahead.

I've had this app a while now & never really been impressed as I'm a lorry driver & I was driving my car down a road tonight & it didn't tell me that the road was closed by the highways agency. Really sorry but I'm not going to use this anymore. Useless.

Iva. A. Dec 16, 2019

Useless since it just does not work. No alerts for closed road at 15 miles length. Google map and Wize do better job. Deleted

A. G. u. Jan 9, 2019

very poor. kept bringing up the same dialogue box about sending data to highways England. wouldn't get past that box despite answering both yes and no.

Pat. F. Feb 1, 2019

Terrible app. None of the functionality works. constantly freezes and gives no useful info.

Ric. N. Jan 28, 2020

Useless app, try reporting a road problem, first you have to register with, Microsoft! Then you can generate a complaint. I did, and have been ignored for over 6 months.

Pau. B. Oct 12, 2020

Absolutely useless. One star is pushing it. M4 closed junctions 5 to 6. Plenty of signs on motorway, planned to come off at 7. No 7, detour through Slough not a happy way to spend part of a 4 hour journey.

And. F. Jul 24, 2019

this would be a 5 star app if it showed junction numbers where the roadworks are and if there are any planned road closures on the routes saved. please update this to show these

And. J. Oct 17, 2018

Often gives 'there was an error calculating the route'. Amateurish. Little value unless it works

Gra. W. Jul 18, 2019

What a joke, produced a route using the A15, 2 other apps showed the road closure and detour...this app did not. Uninstalled this joke of an app that matches the joke that is The Highways Agency.

ebo. May 3, 2021

Stinker stopped working completely in recent weeks Route not errors try again later despite strong WiFi gps x destinations correctly entered. AVOID! Report faulty traffic lights...3 weeks red stop bulbs still out of order .. enough ssid

Info hard to find quickly. Also could not find the familiar zoomable map like on the website. I may as well use the website anyway, so uninstalled the app.
