The pen is good and cool and so close to brilliant - but the App is terrible. I change phones and now there is no way to connect it. It has a stupid .pdf and OCR. Why on earth wouldn't they just OCR everything AND keep the image. Searchability is one of the key things you would want and shareable (.pdf). One of the worst apps I have ever used. So close to brilliant idea.
Constantly showing a notification to open the app, why? When using OneNote for auto send it just says: error! No way to know what went wrong. Auto send to Google drive is just as bad. Why can't I just transcribe a whole page instead of using the feed and manually doing it for few lines at a time. Expected better since the pen is not cheap.
I really like the app and love how everything is pretty seamless transferring over from the dot paper to the app. One feature that's really missing is the option to create custom tags. I use post it notes for everything so it's nice to be able to look back and recall what I wrote down, but I'm easily frustrated that I have to scroll through an endless list of notes trying to find a specific note I made. If I could make custom tags, I'd at least be able to filter down my notes to a topic.
Great in theory this app is in desperate need of a full overhaul (with porting of existing notes!!). I continue to be amazed at how neglected this half of the technology is. Lag, crashes and lost notes are more common than it functioning correctly. Desktop version is utterly unusable. Instead of releasing new pen colours could you please hire some developers to get this program functional?? Called tech to find10pg loss, resulting in 100pg loss. Had to reformat & lost entire 200pg book.
Terrible app, everytime I try to use it with my notebook it crashes instantly when I start writing. Fix your app ASAP, this is embarrassing. EDIT: The new update fixed the app. I contacted CS and was on live chat with one of their staff named Marie for 4 hours. We did multiple firmware updates on my Aegir pen and when I still was experiencing crashes, she concluded that the app was the problem. Now the app works great with my pen. Thank you Marie and engineers at Livescribe for your hardwork.
Fourth, and final, Livescribe Pen. That's right, I am a glutton for punishment! I just love the idea of a smartpen but, sadly, the execution is completely useless for me. That's not quite true: with the earlier versions, the pen synched with my computer, used its own microphone to record, connected to WiFi, and even had a tiny, and hilarious, piano app (I'm not joking. You drew a small keyboard, wrote 'Piano' above it, and then could play, and store, little songs.) Unfortunately, that went away.
The category for this messy pile of bugs would rather be Unproductivity. I have been really patient and given it several tries but I am done with constant interruptions, loss of vital notes and extreme unreliabilty. Unfortunately, this also goes for my new Aegir pen which I really like(d) but will return now. Farewell, Livescribe, I will seek something better.
The pen is good but the app is terrible. It's hanging and crashing all the time. No data lost (yet!) but the experience has been so appalling that I'm starting to prefer other ways of taking notes. Mind you, this state of things has not changed over the last five years.
The sharing part of this app is broken. I have told the developers and they say they are fixing it but it has been three months now. The only option I get is to share pdfs to WhatsApp which is hardly useful! I have come to the realisation that I can't use my Livescribe pen anymore, despite initially being very pleased with it. Exploring other products. Warning to all.
Frequently crashes while downloading pages from my Aegir pen, and then these are not downloaded the next time the pen connects, so the pages are lost. App doesn't recognise the pen automatically, so I am forced to pair it every time I use the app. I had great hopes for the pen, but has turned out to be a complete waste of money.
App and synch used to work really well, I have been a customer of Livescribe since 2017. But quality has been quickly degrading, to the point where I cant use both my pens anymore because they require firmware updates that will not run, android app crashes, desktop app crashes, FAQs are not clear.... Really disappointed.
I have the Symphony. This misses a few words towards the end almost every time. Otherwise no issue. Those words are important though as I have a disability that I'm using this for on advice of cognitive therapist. It's great for searching through handwritten notes, it even recognizes nearly all of my not so good handwriting really well.
i am an O.G. pulse pen user. i loved the apps and pen features of the pulse. having the internal memory, apps (primary and add on) as well as other features were a selling point. dissapointment was abound when it did not make inclusion in the world of software. i would like to add, if i did not acquire a new model pen on discount, you would not be reading this. livescribe! next time, ask and i am quite sure you can get feedback on producing a proper pen. call me. app ok, pen, not so much.
The app crashes regularly, sometimes losing data. Spent ages talking to the support line who said that no other apps should be running at the same time as Livescribe+ to avoid crashes. Not a practical solution so now left with an expensive biro.
The app wasn't very good to begin with, but after one of the updates it started crashing every several minutes, so I spend more time restarting the app than writing. Such a shame, because I love the pen and now it is just useless.
For initial purchase i used aegir with windows app. Update took about 1 minute. Was quick to pair and setup. Now i need to use it. I wanted to write this cos of all the problems listed regarding firmware update but didnt see any recent reviews. My experience seems to have worked out fine. I ll probably write more after use
Just got my pen. Paired it, got a message that it needs a mandatory firmware upgrade. It will not write the upgrade to the pen. Over an hour waiting. Tried again and again and nothing. Love the concept, but will be returning if this doesn't work.
Ever once in awhile, I lose the ability to share pages and pdfs. This is happening now. It happened a while back, then was fixed. Very frustrating!
Probably my favourite/most useful app on my tablet. I had a few issues in the beginning which I got help with from Livescribe customer support. Since then I've been happy with both pen/ app.
I have used my Livescribe 3 pen and this app on various Samsung smartphones (as well as the iPad version) for well over 2 years now with everything working and syncing faultlessly. An excellent product.
Keeps stopping, UNUSABLE, sending pen back. Can't use the pen without the app, so what is the point? Tried contacting Livescribe, but there is no direct way to contact them. Very unhappy and dissapointed.
Long term user of livescribe smartpens , but last 2 months the app is crashing constantly!! This is a major problem as the pen syncs with the app in order to record.
