To manually turn on/off the Hotspot functionality, use the "Hotspot Toggle" widget instead.

- Android 5.1. It uses an unsupported (but publicly available) API, so it might not work on your phone.

Note: This plug-in does NOT make your phone hotspot-capable if it was not before. It is also not intended to avoid any costs charged on you by the provider for using the Wifi Hotspot (Mobile AP).
If it does not work for you:
- Try turning on/off the hotspot functionality of your phone.
- Try using the "Hotspot Toggle" widget.

Doesn't work on Android 8 Oreo. It turns off the WiFi but can't turn on the hotspot. The code is on github so I may have a look see if anything can be done to get it working, as I can see where it's failing.
Not working on Samsung Galaxy S8 It does stop the WiFi. But doesn't start the hot spot. Is there anyway able to fix this
Used to work fine, but no longer enables the hotspot. Replaced with built in Tasker WiFi sharing action.
Doesn't work with android 6. Too bad.
Abandoned by creator. He is asking someone to take over the project. Will someone please take over and update the app so everyone with an Android OS over 5 (almost everyone) can use it?

Moto Droid Maxx on Kit Kat, Using tasker version 4.2u3m. Plug in integrates well with Tasker, easy and clear. Function to turn ON WiFi tethering works perfectly Function to turn OFF WiFi tethering does nothing at all. I also have used Tasker's built in WiFi Tether (Action, Net, WiFi Tether), and gives the same behavior as this plug-in, so the issue is with the device not accepting the Off command, as written in both this plugin and Tasker. Rating 4 stars for the GUI and ease of integration.
Can't figure out how to disable the auto shutoff feature when 0 clients are connected for 5 minutes (HTC m8issue)
I'm not sure if it is the app or the phone but it doesn't seem to work with my Samsung Note 3. I have tried several things but it doesn't work. The program acts like it is working then never turns the hotspot on. It did work once but I was never able to get it to work again. I have tried several different settings.
App turns wifi on for my touch 4g but not the wifi hot spot. Hotspot nativity works but was going for automatic solution
Use this plug in during commute hours to share data with car dedicated Android carputer. Works with Galaxy S2.
Works great! (Evo) Those of you who gave a low rating due to needing Local are idiots. It says it in the name of the app.
5 Star App!!! All it takes is a little reading and minimal trial and error and this app is phenomenal!
Great addition to tasker. Now I can automatically turn on my hotspot when needed.
It doesn't work with the HTC Rezound, but I'm giving it 5 stars to counteract the knuckleheads who have no idea what this thing is for, but still give a rating.
This app does tell u to use with locale which cost $10 so this app is misleading and sux

My phone is the sgs2 sch-r760. (rarer generic non CDMA version that's almost identical to the epic touch 4g... )
I can't get this plugin to work for Galaxy S5 on stock, unrooted, AT&T 4.4 ROM. Phone has an "checking for authorization" step when turning on hotspots that defeats all toggles I can find. Maybe with root and custom ROM?
It is probably the worst app on the market.
Have to download a $10 app for it to work. Dumb. Dont waste your time...

Works as promised with locale. nexus one
Works fine with tasker on the Dell Streak.
