LOCATE

LOCATE: create a chart of your world as you travel through and around it. Keep it personal or share it with a global community to create a unique mapping record that shows how our environment affects and shapes how we live our lives. Be among the first people to experiment with this unique personal emotion app to record how different places make you feel.

WHY: The way in which our homes, villages, towns, cities and the landscape have been designed and cared for affect our physical and mental well-being. They form our sense of place and identity; our sense of being located and dislocated. LOCATE is an experiment to create a mass awareness of our surroundings, what's good and what's bad, to influence designers, architects, developers and planners.

HOW: Simply use the wheel of different emotions and feelings, choosing the ones which best describe how you feel, to create your chart, and take a picture to store in your LOCATE gallery.

Keep your chart and gallery private or share it - #locateme on Twitter & Instagram with the LOCATE community

Contributors to LOCATE global community will be part of this experimental online interactive network, mapping information about how the environment makes us feel, the good bits and the bad bits, recording how we live in and make sense of the world around us.

LOCATE is part of 'Last Station, located & dislocated' a touring artwork by artists Elise&Mary funded by the Arts Council of England. The app and has been designed by artists Elise&Mary working with Ocasta.

'Last Station, located & dislocated' Art work is inspired by the 'Guiding Lights' and navigation systems of Trinity House, and the importance of waterways in our maritime heritage. Elise&Mary use the state of floating lightships on shifting sandbanks as a metaphor to interpret different ways of representing the states of being located or dislocated to ‘place’ and identity - physically, culturally, emotionally and spiritually.
