This has worked for me for several months (since I installed it first). It's simple and straightforward. The other two credit bureaus, Transunion freeze/unfreeze is dead at the moment, can't use their app, and the other, Experian, is abismally in the past: there is not an app to quickly do the job so they require you to reenter your info and reconfirm your identity (Thank you 1Password for helping on that).

The app seems to work as designed. However, using the app you seemingly can't put a true permanent "freeze" on your credit report as federal law now allows. You can only put a "lock" on your report and companies such as those that send you mail for pre-approved credit cards can still access your credit report. You will need to mail a paper form to Experian in order to get a true permanent freeze. By contrast, the TransUnion app seems to allow a true freeze on your TransUnion credit report.

This service has never worked. Over the last few months I tried using the app and website multiple times and it has never allowed me to login once. Ever time I got an error message saying I need to call customer service and when I do they say "we're working on fixing it", with various timeframes for getting it up and running including "a few days" to "a couple weeks". It's been months now that it hasn't been work and I've lost faith in this service. Edit: The dev response is no help whatsoever.

This app doesn't work. So I haven't used this app in a while. I recently upgraded my phone. I tried to log in to the app with no luck got a error code. I called the number and the agent had no clue how to help me. I've clear the data uninstalled and reinstalled with no luck. So I came here to read the reviews and to my surprise this has been a long-standing issue. A positive is I can still log into my account online.

I've attempted to sign up several times over several days. Each time, after completing the forms, I'm met with a message saying "We are temporarily unable to connect to our services". It was a nice idea, but of course Equifax has little reason to make this actually functional. This app was probably just a distraction to head off more regulatory action by congress.

Equifax online security still a joke. Password never works. Am forced to reset and get locked out multiple times. I use a password manager and have never had an issue like this with another site, especially one that is in charge of very personal sensitive data.

So far so good, for my on experience, it was easy to sign up and easy to download the app. I've been able to easily unlock and Lock my credit report with no issues. I receive an email immediately acknowledging that my credit report has been locked or unlocked.

This ia all it does! No access to credit report. No access to credit score. it has only 1 function. Another app to place on your cluttered phone and another password to forget when sitting in a car dealership and you need to provide access to your account.

I have to say that this app is "USELESS" basically the only thing that you can do in this app is "Lock" your credit report and when you try, it doesn't work. Other than that, there's nothing else you can do. It has a "HOME" button which again tells you if your credit report is lock or unlock. It has a "My Account" option where you'll be able to see your name and address and a "SUPPORT" option which does nothing basically. You should take a look at the "Experian App" you'll learn a thing or two.

It does not work. I have spent 3 hours on the phone with equifax. I can access lock & Alert on my computer. This app does not work. The worst application ever. Nobody can log in. It says "call us". No solution noresponse from support. Total waste.

App longer functions and only gives error on login attempt. There is a new version with a new listing, but the app gives no notice of this. You don't replace an app like this without providing notice in app for existing users. We should not have to read about it on the app store page for the old nonfunctional version.

I installed this app three months ago and have been unable to use it. Every time I attempt to sign into Lock & Alert, I receive an error message that asks me to call Equifax customer service for assistance. I've called four times over a period of about three months and was told that the Equifax technical department is working on whatever problem is preventing me from signing into the app. Today, I called for the fifth time to report the same problem and ask about the pending resolution. This time, an honest Equifax customer-service rep admitted the app is worthless and suggested that I uninstall it. He said there is no resolution available for my problem and recommended using my smartphone's browser and the Equifax website to manage my credit report. That's what I'm going to do. So, if you're having issues with the Equifax Lock & Alert app, you're not alone.

My Equifax credit score is 40 points LOWER than my Experian credit score. Even after reading all of the horrible reviews, I decided to check it out & create an acct w/Equifax. Given all the horrible reviews, I wasn't surprised when the app didnt work. I, like all the others, get an error msg when attempting to log in.

When attempting to use the app, it gives me a phone number to call, when calling this phone number, the technician has to pass the information along, said it would take 5 to 7 days, have no problem logging on to website, same password for website and app, app will not give the opportunity to enter password. Technician sent reset link, twice, no effect, app is useless at this point.

I just filled out the application for lock and alert Equifax website put in all my information birthday address social security etc and then I get redirected to their phone number and talk to customer care and ask me for all information I filled out on application. I was redirected to a second customer care person who wanted all of my personal information. I was sent a verification code using my mobile phone number and was still unable to sign up. I believe this site is a scam.

I should have read the previous reviews. The app is worthless as I cannot log in to it. Equifax works fine on their website from my laptop using the same information input as in the app. Don't bother with downloading it.

A. G. u. Jan 22, 2020

I cannot login on my Android it gives me a username / password error. Seems many others complain about the same problem. I called Equifax and they had no solution so it seems the app is useless for many.

A. G. u. Mar 31, 2019

sux Wil not allow me to log in and I called the 888 number they showed. The Equifax employee told me they are updating the app and does not know when it will be ready. That just tells me they r not interested in fixing it. Do not waste ur time like I did!!!!!!

A. G. u. May 13, 2019

The app is pointless, I attempt to login to my account. it gets locked and then I can't get customer service to unlock my account. I keep getting transferred and they are very rude

A. G. u. Jan 13, 2019

This app is totally defective. I am unable to log on after many attempts. I called customer service numerous times and they are friendly but useless. Don't waste your time downloading this app!

A. G. u. Oct 13, 2018

Doesn't work. Verified my account online but doesn't work in app. Won't let me sign in. Makes me wonder if it is a legitimate app based on how many can't get in. Changing my password now.

E. R. Oct 5, 2020

Doesn't work anymore and NO HELP. I have called several times since I continue to get error 112. Every single time I try to login now I get this error code and depending on which rep you get depends on if they can help you or not.

A. G. u. Jan 25, 2019

Really bad. I had no problems with the other two credit management companies. This one seems stupid. Dangerous and reckless. I wish it were possible to opt out of their monitoring.

A. G. u. Sep 18, 2019

Entered requested info. twice. It would not take and defaulted back to start all over again. Wasted my time. BS. Didn't have any problems with Experian or Transunion. Will just use them I guess.

A. G. u. Sep 19, 2019

Can't open the app, keeps saying the password/email combo is wrong but I can sign in online. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling without luck.

Tho. S. J. Oct 7, 2020

Stopped working when needed. Error message 112 to call in results in the operators saying to uninstall / reinstall the app. Still doesn't allow logging back in.

A. G. u. Nov 26, 2018

I downloaded this app to watch/monitor my credit score, however the only thing this app is good for apparently is locking & unlocking your credit report. And frankly I knew nothing about something like that until I got this app.

A. G. u. Aug 3, 2019

app is a scam. you get all the way through and they send you a code and tye whole process goes away and you have to restart. gives you a number to call and that leads nowhere. just go directly to the website

A. G. u. Jan 18, 2019

Can't log in to the POS. verified my username and password by logging into the website but the app keeps telling me it's incorrect.. Total junk!
