Great app but no possibility to customize the bottom panel and the copyright symbol on the map is not transparent. Update: The screen is blinking when I zoom in and out with the latest update. Update2: All is working fine again. Not sure what was causing this.
After several years and testing other GPS and orienteering apps, Locus remains my favourite. Sometimes I still use Alpine Quest, but I cometely ditched Orux maps, viewranger and backcoutry navigator. Lots of features, highly customizable, yet simple to use and a great system of in-app purchases and upgrades. It is my first reccommendation to all my students on outdoor courses.
A few unpleasant time wasting experiences with this app I was using to replace the intentionally destroyed viewranger. However, this company responded to my concerns immediately, impressive! I will reappraise my rating. I'm pretty annoyed with the way software developers treat their customers. I had to re-download maps I'd purchased after an update. What happened to viewranger was criminal and has tainted my attitude towards these software companies.
A very good navigator, lots of detail, complex functionality- takes some time to get around in the menus, but I think it's worth the effort. i use it freq when I go on footor bike.
The best hiking map there is. You can use your own vector maps and connection with smart watch is absolutely briliant. I have been using this app for about ten years everytime I go for a walk or on a trip, and I love it. Plus one time payment is fair. Subscription? Not so much - even after a decade I would switch in a heartbeat. Keep this option alive and I will keep using it, force subscription and it's goodbye. All in all, if you want a map app, this is without any doubt The One.
Great replacement for Viewranger which I used for years before it was, sadly, replaced by Outdooractive (which I don't like). Locus Map is even better than Viewranger was, so all's well that ends well. Please don't sell out to Outdooractive!!
I bought Locus Map Pro (Not the Locus Map 3 Classic, feel not good) because I just need to use the feature and function that descript in application description. I really do not understand, why you change the name? Is you want to discontinue this application? Regarding to answer from developer, good to here that app still continuously updated, maintained and supported at helpdesk, just only the name is changed. I understood that you will discontinue this app soon because you changed name number to under Locus Map 4. If like this, I still love this applicaion.
When the app doesn't malfunction, it is a joy. When it has a malfunction - which happens ever so often - getting it back to proper function requires A LOT of self-made maintenance even though there is a help desk website... Cannot recommend if you are looking for a user friendly intuitive and low maintenance app. It sure is best suited for android developers and alikes.
very handy to find your way back when bush walking - no getting lost as you can easily retrace your steps. keeping a record of distance covered, height, speed when on holiday was a great way to journal our trips. battery usage is low as well. got maps of New Zealand. I recommend.
I absolutely loved this app and regularly used it for hiking with bespoke offline maps. However I recently bought a new phone and when I redownloaded the app it no longer supports linking to maps in external directories. Having paid for the app to use specifically with these offline maps it is now useless, and it seems if I want to continue to use the maps I will be forced to pay for a new monthly subscription to locus map 4 (even though I already have a paid subscription to locus map pro)
I've been using this app for awhile now and completely love it. Only one thing I would like more is some type of GPS device which is compatible with Locus Maps (other then phone or watch).
Very good app, but recently I can't use the "rotate map" function, the map won't rotate, any idea why?
I'm agitated that they for this version I can't select internal storage, my original default directory with this version anymore, now it forces private directory, locus 4 is still allows the internal option, for a minute I had them both sharing my vector maps, now I need 2 copies while evaluating 4. Now other map apps can't find the vectors I keep in locus like I used to, maybe with some fiddling or rooting and scripting. I got suckered into allowing it to move directories.
Great app that I've used all over the world. You can download the maps for offline use and the pricing for the maps is inexpensive. Always adding updates & features.
So the "pro" version became the old and obsolete "v3 classical" version. It's dev's way of telling us to pay a monthly subscription for v4.
I loved this app for years, it was perfect. but now external maps are no longer supported. It says i have to copy them to \locus\maps to use them, but theres no such folder on my decice or sd card... Why do they have to do this? :(
WARNING WARNING Dropping to one star. Other app is unable do write files in Locus data directory in Android 11. DO NOT UPDATE the app if You are using external apps to write to data directory (i.e. to download photos). Latest perfectly good version, running with proper directories is 3.55.1 You can find APK on many sites.
I was using Locus Pro, but after the update I lost my saved routes, it's unfare that I pay for the pro and now I am left vith the basic version.
Very good app, customizable, stable and with access to professionally produced maps not available elsewhere. Current minor negatives: No way to modify a map download after the first definition. This would be useful. Slightly strange payment points system makes the app feel less professional - it would feel safer to pay though Google payments for subscriptions to proprietary maps.
