I have used this app for years. But lately it crashes whenever I try to input a new flight. After 6 or 7 tries, it will finally open without crashing. Also, it is very annoying only being able to sync my logbook or view flights on my home computer. Why isn't there an option to have most of the function of the desktop program, on the app?
Logbook Pro worked great for me for YEARS. I am a Capt for a major airline and used Logbook Pro since they started. After a decade or so I found I was unable to open my logbook on a new computer. I decided to purchase the new version of Logbook Pro, $80. It downloaded, but I still couldn't open my original logbook except for the preview look (i.e. just the first few pages). I emailed back and forth with the company, first they didn't believe I actually paid for the software. When I emailed them the receipt they said it was a problem with my credit card, they never receive payment. My credit card company (Citi bank) assured me that they paid them. Long story short, I disputed and then cancelled my credit card charge. So all my Logbook records saved on Logbook Pro are lost. I still have the data file but am unable to open the files. That is how the Logbook Pro founder treats his customers. Great program, terrible support. Now the "founder" makes a post that this NEVER happened. Not only did it happen but I've emailed the founder 8FEB22 and included the 20+ emails we've traded back and forth to jog his memory. He's not being truthful.
Two years since any updates, and coincidentally two years since the logbook totals in the reports would sync over to the app from the desktop correctly. At least the flight logs go from the phone to the desktop. Maybe we'll get an update soon. Or maybe just another price hike with no more functionality added.
Used for a few years, got tired of waiting for the promised hh:mm setup rather than decimal hours which never came. Also, seperate annual subscription charges for the mobile app, roster sync and cloud backup. Not recommended for EASA land. I'm switching to MCCPilotlog.
App crashes, and it has more bugs than it use to. Also lacking on features cheaper logbooks have. Definatly not worth $50 per year.
Had no problems entering or sync up to my PC.. glad I got this almost didn't from reviews.. Android 9+
Not a stand alone app. You need a PC software version to use.
Edited--- 4 stars because of the high recurring costs and lack of syncing across all devices. New additions should show up on all devices. Its 2019! That being said, my data is secure and I don't have to worry about app goong away tomorrow like some of the free logbooks. Seriously though for what this service costs, you need to upgrade your tech so that when I hit sync,ALL devices update, not just the master. You also need a legit Mac version.
Have to pay for the PC version AND app, and you don't even get current information (currency/totals) unless you open your PC version and sync everytime you add info. Cloud is another added extra expense, but still doesn't help with totals. There is an 8710 that will populate, but it's an extremely outdated 8710, so it's useless to print. Why not update it? You can add certs/types/medicals from the mobile app, but once added, you can't view them unless you're on the PC version. This program is expensive for what you get. It seems they are against making improvements and making new options, rather than adding more fees for the same old stuff they started with. Disappointed and probably switching to a different logbook.
I've used this app for years now. I used to love it but something has changed in the last several months. I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S8 and the app has become very unstable. It constantly crashes whenever any function is selected including sometimes when I open the app.
Program has a strong back end structure, syncs well across platforms, and offers online backup and sync for a fee.
If you're a professional pilot this app is handy because it allows you to log your flights on the go and then upload them to the desktop version of the software. You won't be able to view individual flights from your computer based logbook, only basic currency and logbook totals. I think it's ridiculous that they charge a subscription fee rather than just integrating a wired PC to phone sync option. Logten is better but they develop only for Mac/iPhone & started also charging a subscription fee for mobile.
The reason for this review here is because their website screens all reviews written and deletes the ones that aren't praising them. I have been completely dissatisfied with this software and company since I got it. Their software is not just the mobile fee they advertise, but also the desktop subscription because you are required to have that to use the app. Not enough space for all details but the way they advertise on their website is very misleading. Strongly recommend a different electronic logbook.
The web site documentation is awful. It's recurring fee structure is high. The software is archaic and unintuitive. I'm wholly unimpressed. Basically a glorified spreadsheet.
Great for use with the standard LBP functions. However, there is a lot of room for improvements, and updated functions. Unfortunately it seems that you have to own a IPhone in order to have a stable and useful update. If i could use the apdl on my android device, it would have five stars.
Crashes every time I open it!
$40 a year now for pro mobile and $15 a month to sync schedule. Wow. Many free options out there now. I would rather pay a flat fee for the app. The app is completely useless if you use it and it expires.
And constantly improving
I can't review the overall software except here. It is overpriced garage. It is a glorified spreadsheet. Every other option is more user friendly and cheaper. I have to re do my whole damned logbook because if you let your cloud backup expire, your data is gone. I just paid $30 to reactivate my cloud subscription and there is no data. I had a hard drive failure as well, so I'm back to square one. I should have known better than to trust this software. Save yourself some heartache and just use anything else or even Google docs and you won't be screwed in the end. I should have known that anything that charges separate for mobile, cloud, schedule importer, was a complete ripoff.
As is the case with all Logbook Pro programs, it works pretty well for basic stuff. The annoying thing is it has fields for professional pilots (trip & flight #, duty time, Crew etc) but those fields don't populate your logbook during a synch, you have to buy the way too expensive professional pilot version. Everything is a tease, almost what you want and need but to actually get that, pay a lot more. Sure the app is free but without paying for the cloud synch it's pretty pointless. Overall, annoying.
The fix appears simple to me. Just create an optional check box that designates a flight as commercial or private carriage, then have the 121 / 135 currency report use that information. Without that the feature is useless. Shows a lack of understanding of the regulations to me.
If the devs want to make a mobile program (app), then they should make it full-featured. Making a "free" mobile app, but requiring a paid desktop version in order to have it fully functional? Bait-and-switch. Also, no iOS or Linux versions, only a M$ Windoze port. That the devs know how to program for a Linux environment is obvious: they created an Android app. Uninstalled.
It's not APDL, but it is nice. 3 stars due to not having the ability to import flights by leg and then upload to Logbook Pro desktop as a single-line entry though.
Great app! Works well with Samsung Galaxy 5. Strange however that sometimes the app will not allow the addition of OOOI times without creating and error although the times are correct
Had to use this for work and have kept on using now that I have switched companies. A little on the pricey side.
I use this app on an almost daily basis. Very reliable and stable as well as good tech support
I've been using this app for about 6 months or so on my Galaxy S8. I love the features in it, and it's easy to use. My biggest gripe is how often this app crashes. 97 times since July according to Samsung. Like other users have said, it crashes multiple times before each use. I have reached out to tech support as they did only to hear they haven't heard of this issue. I will continue to use the desktop version, but I'll go back to the little paper logbook rather than renewing this subscription.
