It's really clunky and not intuitive to use. The GPS location and addresses are apparently inaccurate. Apparently, it all depends on how my GPS is configured on my device. my device works with every app brilliantly. Today i tried to use it again, it automatically generated my location a block away and i had to run to the cab. The map function froze and I was unable to move the frame. Drivers say everyone complains and there are no attempts to improve. Makes me want to use uber, which I hate.
Update: its gotten worse. Twice in a row now, I've booked a ride and it never came. I ended up using a competing ride-share app. The Waterloo Taxi app was way better than this. Thankfully I'm moving and don't have to even think of using Lokal anymore. The app works well, but the auto tip feature seems bugged. I had it set to automatic 20% but my driver did not get a tip. Really nice driver, too, and I felt bad.
App is far more effective than calling in, get it. However many app options are lacking. One is the location function which defaults to GPS even if GPS is not working (in a parking structure) which means you can send your ride to a random location in town. Another flaw is the booking feature, despite booking two days ahead of time it doesnt mean the taxi will be there at the booked time. The taxi is CALLED at the booked time, which can mean a 25 minute wait. There are other easily fixed flaws.
I used to use this app all the time, but ever since the latest update it won't let me book any taxis. I can input my location/destination, and all additional info, but when it comes to pressing the "book" button it doesn't register that I've done anything at all (the "later" button doesn't work either). I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling it several times but still haven't had any luck. It used to work great, though! Not sure what happened.
it does work, with great rates, but on new phones (even flagships!) it will not notify you whatsoever unless you are staring at the screen the entire time to see if it changes there. there's no text, or notification with sound, despite selecting both for the "alert on approach" and "booking accepted" options. this is on multiple people's phones & carriers. it needs to be tested properly, & fixed! It worked suddenly for 3 mths last year then broke again.
Some bugs and mishaps, here and there. But overall a great app. Also sometimes it actually is cheaper than Uber. There has been a few issues with a few drivers that started the meter before I even got in the car.... Despite all that b.s. ALL other drivers have been exceptional. I as well felt really safe, even during covid!
NEVER works. Since the last update, I have successfully managed to complete 2 requests for rides. And when you call, they will not honour the flat rate pricing. Update in direct response to your reply: Well now you know otherwise. I have uninstalled and reinstalled twice in the past 2 days. I have restarted my phone every time. "Accept and Book" does nothing but close the window. "Book Now (ETA ...)" does nothing. At all. "Later" does nothing. Ever.
I've recently been taking cabs to and from work. I was paying roughly 8 - 9 dollars for the trip but the apps flat rate is $11 it doesn't save me anything other than calling in. The cabs meter on its own is less than the application. I just call the cab because it actually saves me money :S
Says in dev mode and won't let me register. I've used this app before I switched phones to a loaner phone while mine is being repaired and since I use the app almost daily, I reinstalled it. I've tried numerous times to sign in, and it either crashes immediately or gives me tiny print uptop about being in dev mode. Did someone over there forget to do something? Perhaps you can fix it so I can install it again and use it!
Actually cheaper than Uber!! Hit the flat rate button and regardless of the traffic you pay the same amount. The drivers are really friendly and it is safer because of the video cameras in the cab. I wish that the app was a bit easier to use - or at least had a tutorial. But I have been getting tips from the drivers :)
Last Sunday, I used this app as I have been late many mornings because the cab company is really busy. I just don't understand how busy it can be at 4:35AM. So I thought maybe if I booked a time for the cab to be here at then I wouldn't be late. I was wrong. Even with using this app, I didn't have a driver come and get me until 5AM! Making me surprise late again! Not very impressed with it.
Awful. Non-responsive app that's really confusing, buttons don't work, doesn't show me on the map and says there's no taxis in my area, and the font is awful and the whole experience is atrocious. I'm sticking with Uber.
worst app ever nothing but a piece of GARBAGE!!!! Have tried 5 different times requesting a cab each time a different excuse. Can't locate your address, unable to book your request at this time. Cab will ve here in 2 minutes and never shows up. I have a child with special needs who could do a better job with meeting customers needsthan with Waterloo cab. Time to get rid of this stupid app once and for all
Often when i book trips, drivers are unsure where i am even though i put exactly where i am into the comments. Multiple times now i have had to pay more than what the upfront cost is while using that feature. As a result, its a less used app on my phone
Awesome app totally recomend this over csllingbover the telephone sometimes wait a bit to get through ..not only that I've had the ppl from the waterloo taxi call me when I've booked a taxi for a long distance ride to tell me its cheaper to use the regular cab direct rather then this app so I know the office staff pays attention to the calls and requests through the app it woulda cost me money that way so it worked out better..u can see where ur driver is as well while u wait ..
I would like to be able to preset a couple of messages in the "Help Driver" section. Also an easier way to send messages about the app while in the app would be nice.
Ordered a cab trying to stay local with my money had to cancel after waiting in the cold with my girlfriend for over 10 minutes after the arrival time eventually had to cancel and get in another cab waiting on the side of the street whom had already tried to radio the other cab before my cancelling. When I came home I saw that they had charged me an extra $7 for the whole thing because I had to cancel.
The app itself is good, but the drivers dont seem to fully grasp how it works when it comes to paying. I tried to coach one gentleman through it on his screen and I still had to use cash in the end because he couldn't get it to work.
Just tired of constantly having to reinstall and install the app so that it will open. Okay with drivers and service, just not okay with the constant bugs.
It's a great app when it works but sometimes it refuses to detect my location service as active and once I get beyond that point it won't let me log in to use the app.
I posted a few days ago that the flat rate option for Waterloo taxi was not working and I stand by that claim. I did not miss a step in the booking process as I'm a regular customer who uses it often. It was fixed after I made this review.
Installed. Went through registration. Verification code was never received. Uninstalled and called a cab the old-fashioned way, which came in less than 5 minutes.
With the latest updates, instead of not knowing if the booking was made, you're now unable to book at all. App is now totally useless instead of just bad.
The app won't even load past the login/sign up page. It shuts down every time it tries loading after the load screen.
Absolutly fantastic innovation by Waterloo Taxi. The Flat rate pricing is within 5% of uber with no surge pricing and you get to ride in new vehicles with proper commercial insurance and cameras inside and out. Deleted uber and lift.
Used to use this app quite often but no I can't book a trip anymore ever since it was updated I tried to uninstall and reinstall I tried everything and it won't work I really wish you would fix this problem for me
Unable to enter my CC details. No support options given to get help with it. Ended up phoning for a ride and using regular payment machine. Disappointing.
All the conveniences of the other popular ride hailing apps/services. Up front pricing is great. No more sketchy Ubr drivers for me..
Thus app sucks now it never opens past the lokal screen and waterloo taxi wont honour the discounts over the phone when you call to tell then there stupid ap fteezes tour whole phone and its just a painbib the butt so frustrating you are better iff just calling a cab and paying extra ti save the f×××××÷ headache
The app is ok but, I'm not a fan of the fact that it randomly decides that the flat fee option can be negated upon booking. It looks like it's an issue that hasn't been fixed for several years now based on some of the reviews. Be aware that once you get into the cab, the meter will start going up even if you booked flat fee.
