Let's break a perfectly good app. I've used the app everyday for the puzzles. Worked like a dream.....UNTIL NOW! Now it 'Downloads' the puzzles only for you to access the puzzle online. Useless if you travel and want to do the puzzles where there's no data. Also if you don't do the puzzle that day, it's overwritten by the latest edition! Going to give up and get another app, been doing the puzzles for over 20 years, not anymore.

The update to this ui makes this so unusable and unreadable. They've basically just dumped the printed version online and added links to some of the headlines. It doesn't suite a small phone screen.

Poor,poor,poor. Latest version is based on the script of " How to ruin a perfectly good app" The latest update does not work on my phone that uses Android 10…Does not work at all😠💩. Previous version worked perfectly and seamlessly. Who's the bright spark that thought it needed a change?

It is disappointing that, as others have commented, the launch of the new app has rendered the interactive puzzle section inoperative. Two months on, there has been no attempt to address this issue and so I have resolved the matter by deleting the app.

I have to agree that this so called upgrade has ruined a perfectly good and easy to use app. I am so disappointed. When I try to get into latest edition of the games and puzzles, it just shunts me straight into the previous days edition. I am about to delete and reinstall the app to see if this resolves the issue but if it doesn't, it's goodbye ES.

Unlike most newspaper app once you download an edition, it's not possible to delete it easily. You have two choices. One uninstall and reinstall the app. Secondly, the Evening Standard customer service suggests a very convoluted way of deleting. I have no alternative other than the first option which is the easiest option. Deleting a downloaded edition is not easily possible or it is impossible

Often find puzzles not downloading or are different from the daily paper. Otherwise good fun and easy to use.

I am unable to access this app on my Android phone because a dialogue box comes up at the beginning entitled 'How we use your data'. It says I need to tap on the 'I understand' button to continue. I cannot see this in the dialogue box, probably because my screen is not large enough to accommodate it. On my friends iPad, he can click on it, so has access to the evening standard. I did enjoy reading the standard, but now I am unable to. Have you or anyone any suggestions?

Worked perfect for me. Downloaded app on android 8, then tested 2 offline downloads which i read perfectly. In order to read quicker you need to pinch the screen back to original size and then scroll to next page. All downloads work offline with original paper which i much prefer to snippets. Other news options available. I changed text size and turned off auto download which makes it faster

Definitely a backwards step. Bring back the old app. Puzzles don't load. The issues don't download properly.

This is a terrible app, the older version was much better. The puzzles dontnload and the user experience is really awful.

What happened to the interactive crosswords and sudoku? You now get a picture of the puzzle and can't get it to do anything. The former editions were much easier to use and read. The format might have needed changing but this is definitely a change for the worse.!

Does nothing. Banner sits in the middle of a white screen, nothing happens. A non-app. Zero stars.

Unable to download latest edition. Uninstalled but on installing again still wouldn't load latest paper. Stuck on 3rd Nov edition. 4 Mar 22 A lot worse! Cannot download latest ed & I have uninstalled & reinstalled TWICE ! NO SUCCESS !!!!

The offline mode doesn't work very well. It keeps pausing on articles and sometimes the articles clear themselves. I'm still offline on the tube but all the articles disappear.

This a good app for free London news. I know it is a free paper anyway but the quality is good. It's nice to download papers for nothing for a change. No issues with the app, even offline.

Very poor 'upgrade' that's really a downgrade on what we've really enjoyed. Can we have the old version back please? The developers should hang their head in shame and return their fee. I'm just about to uninstall and become a reluctant ex-reader.

App has stopped downloading new editions. Nothing since March 2nd. Is this war damage?

Amazing : this app, which used to be perfect, simply does not work anymore. Looks like it has been hacked, certainly not upgraded.

Can't save downloads to SD card. Would be nice to be able to access previous puzzles without having to download the whole paper. Maybe provide a separate dedicated ES Puzzles app?

55Mb-ish to get daily edition. Then after when clicking News headlines thumbnail you no article but a spinning icon. Waste of effort and bandwidth. Uninstalling.

The editions are just scanned version of the printed newspaper. Not screen friendly to read. No point installing this.

Cant turn off notifications in the app. Slow to download the paper. See Guardian or Daily Mail for how to do it properly.

Lately I am unable to view the puzzle screens fully. I think it needs to be updated to remove bugs

I like the content but the app is poor. Final straw was when my phone became unusable and complained of running dangerously low on storage - turned out this app had claimed 6.2GB. Uninstalled, regrettably.

Not sure why the Android app wants me to download the entire issue. Let's face it, 90% of it is advertorial rubbish, so why waste the bandwidth?

New update is a disaster, constantly crashing, unable to play puzzles section.

Rubbish app. Why do we have to download issues daily, instead of having a normal app-built-in content that updates everyday?
