A great high fantasy CYOA app. Good story-telling, a vibrant world and enough character customisation and player choice to keep it interesting. My only gripe is the presence of the sections which run "Roll a die. You rolled a zero. Too bad. A rock falls on you. You died. A wizard did it." In isolation, this is fine for this sort of book, but being forced to restart the entire book and mindlessly click though 30 passages you've already read in order to get back to the die roll and hope you get lucky this time is frustrating and unengaging. A checkpoint system world be a massive improvement.
First of all, thanks for this experience. I wanted to ask if this transposition is based on the first edition of the books, because, after playing it, I confronted it with the physical books I have (Italian translation) and they are not the same.
Hi, i have one question regarding combat system. Does the combat result table in the 'Game Rules' section is not used to calculate the result? Because in each turn the system generates a random number, the reduced point of LW's and E's endurance point is not match with the combat result table. anyway, it's a great game, thankyou.
Delightful! I hope they keep updating with the full adventures. I've paid for several of the ad on features. I'm willing to help out also. these books are a treasure. Great interactive reading time with kids!!! my kids ask me too read these all the time!
The books are great and this is one of the only places you can play the first two series back to back. Unfortunately, the developer has decided to place the save system behind a pay wall... On an app using someone else's graciously donated IP. Not the best look and it makes for a poor user experience.
Love the books, love the stories, live the app!!! Joe Dever created a great choose your own adventure RPG story that uses player options and random numbers to simulate chance and combat. The app uses a random numbers generator instead of the original table, but the gameplay is about the same.
Thank you so much for finishing the series. your implementation is a lot smoother than kai series. The gui alone refreshed and gave these classic books a second life. Itd be nice to have the last 8 books, but even without it, this is amazingly well done, and complete.
A good way to experience the Lone Wolf gamebooks that provides a sense of progression and good challenge. On a side-note, the app's author had personally assisted me before I faced a game-breaking bug that prevented me from playing.
While the game mechanics and adventure design are clearly outdated; the series is still best in the genre, and the app is outstanding. Download with confidence.
Now buggy. App shuts down on certain rolls and choices. Most could be avoided by choosing another path. Game-breaking bug in Book 12 though. Otherwise love it to heaven. Samsung Note 8.
This is an amazing work, totally free, no ads and smooth as,played and re- played over and over, worth my donation, keep up the good job and eventually add the last new order adventures!
Great android version of the Books. Play is smooth, uncomplicated and app is polished and easy to navigate. Download the files free and play one of the iconic games of the century.
Did everything that was advertised and more. Found no bugs as of now and the balancing changes he did to the Chaos Lord from the original books is awesome. It is better than any other Lone Wolf reader I have found. I am greatly satisfied with his work, kudos to him.
Can't thank the developers of this app enough for creating and maintaining this gem. The Lone Wolf collection has been a part of my life since early elementary school, I'll always hold a place in my heart for them. That said, I'm having trouble downloading the DB's which is the reason for my 4 star rating. Once i successfully download the DB's I'll up my rating with pleasure. After easily DLing the Kai db all the others kick back with either force closures and/or errors. Hmph...
The Lone Wolf series is quite possibly the greatest example of the gamebook genre. This app is an easy and convenient way to play them. Highly recommended.
Books are really good, but that doesn't even matter when you can't get past first stronger enemy. The app feels like rng generator with pay to win aspects(bookmarks which make this a lot less painful to play). Kai chronicles app is a lot better, but that app only supports first 12 books. It would be great if you could just click at that random number selector. 2/5 would recommend the books, but not the app.
I had played this addicting gamebook in the past. Due several difficulties to collect the gamebooks from the locally book stores, my quest was incomplete. Now, l can restart the game. Thanks.
Big fan of the original books and other 80s gamebooks. I've just played through the first two books on the app and can't wait to continue with the series. Great fun and totally faithful. Quick combat and not having to turn pages really helps keep the pacing fast. Very happy to have been able to donate to support this project. Thanks so much.
