Edit: it was a fun way to save. I have been saving for 2+ years. Not looking for a debit account and have free options for savings. I would have considered upgrading to gold or diamond, but the requirements are too much. I am cashing out my funds and deleting the app. Let me know if you decide to add subscription plans without debit use or large direct/auto deposit requirements. Older: It's a cool way to save spare change.

I used to love it, all the games loaded quickly and the app was simplistic and pleasing to look at. Now everything has cartoon graphics and ridiculous numbers of coins (since they changed the scaling), it's hard to navigate. And they're trying to get you to use their card which rewards you everytime you spend. What kind of "savings" app does that?

It was a decent app until they added the monthly fee. To waive the fee, you need to auto deposit $400 a month and have $100 in debit card spending. I used this app as a way to save some cash for bigger purchases. Monthly fees and debit usage is not consistent with saving $. If you don't mind using Long Game more as your primary savings and checking account, this can be a good app (hence my 4-stars). If you want to simply save, there are many other savings apps that are free.

EDITED: I no longer use this app. If you are able/willing to directly set up direct deposit it can still be free otherwise they charge $3 per month. I love this app. It has a few fun little games. You can win money playing them and it helps me save. I love the debit card option also. I use this as my vacation fund and have money sent to it each paycheck. Then when it's vacation time, I just move the money from the saving jar to the debit card and BAM vacation!

Needs bug fixes. Every time I open the app now it shows an updating screen that takes several minutes to load to 100%. If my screen turns off while loading it starts all over again. When it finally loads completely, I try to open a game but the loading icon just goes around in a circle and doesn't ever open a game. I've been using this app for a couple years but after the last update it has become more of a burden than fun. I liked the old coin system more as well.

Had this app installed for a year and found it a fun way to save. However, when the new fee structure came in, I cashed out and uninstalled. Whike I understand the need to make money (that is what banks and software companies do), I feel the price hikes, fee schedule and more were just a little too steep. I will be saving elsewhere. Good luck Long Game.

Used for a few years. Used to be great! But they just keep adding more and more stuff that doesn't make sense, doesn't have a purpose, or truly do anything except slows the app down with characters and bright colors. If you looked at this app without knowing what it was, you'd think it was a toddler learning app, not a savings account for adults. The whole thing is convoluted and NEEDS to be overhauled. The idea is unique and fun, and SHOULD BE the #1 savings app. But it's not for a reason.

Easy & fun - such a great way to save money! For someone who already follows a budget, this is just a fun and easy way to make a little extra. If you are someone that might struggle with saving, this is a great tool to use. Setting up the savings jars with automatic deposit, seeing them fill month by month, plus the added bonus of playing games for free money or bitcoins all make saving not only simpler but also as 'fun' as it can possibly be!

Welp, there goes a great savings account app. Used to be a good and fun way to save money. The last big update was annoying and pushed the weird monsters and less rewarding games. Now the newest update is horrendous. Either pay $3 a month or be forced to use their debit card (so they then get a cut from wherever you purchase). So long app and hope you enjoy losing a massive amount of user. EDIT: Now having issues when trying to withdraw. Interesting time to have issues getting my money.

Been using this app for a while. It seemed like a great way to just have a little fun. Updated the app and not they want me to pay for it. I understand about adds and other things but paying for an app that says it helps you save but gives minimal value for your return is not worth it. Will be deleting app. Again seemed like a good ideal until you had to start paying.

Great, easy-to-use banking app that makes saving fun! Long Game is unlike any finance app I have used before. The gamified approach to saving money, and the customized savings plans, make it easy to hit my financial goals. Plus, the in-app game and reward experience is a lot of fun. Any minor issues I have experienced got solved quickly via their support agents. I highly recommend this if you're tired of the old approach to savings and are looking for a fun way to spend time and save money.

Well, classic example of something that was good getting completely ruined. Ive had this app for YEARS. Probably since it was first released on the app store. It was great until now. You could have a free savings account and i loved it. Put in a small amount of money each month and out of sight out of mind, wouldnt spend it. It helped a lot. On top of that, based on how much you put into savings you would earn coins that you use to earn cash in games. Now it costs 3 dollars per month/account. 👎

I really liked this app, I've had it for almost a year. But after the new update it takes a 3 dollar fee to maintain your account. This was not beneficial to me because I used this like a back up account so I never put anything in this. Only what I won through the games. With the fee I would actually lose money which defeats the point of having said account.

This has been one of the easiest and best ways for me to save money. I set up an auto draft from my account on the day before I get paid and it hits my account the same day my paycheck comes in. This means it's out before I have time to spend it or see it! I have been able to save for a family vacation, airfare for a trip, create a safety net for myself, and the little games encourage you to add more to savings to unlock more rewards. You can also win money, crypto currency, and coins (which are used inside the app for the games). It's very fun, and very useful! I HIGHLY recommend!

I really liked the app for quite a while. After the last update I haven't been able to play the games. It says loading, then just freezes ona black screen. My coins drop by the amount for the game...I think I get them back after a bit but it's really annoying. I've tried to clear the cache and then tried to clear the data. Still no luck. Update:. Still doesn't work on my Moto G6 play....they advised me to update to Android 10...don't have that option..

I was so disappointed that the monthly transaction fee was introduced. I had such high hopes and have had an account for the past year. I supported everything it was trying to be fun&easy. Not only are you charging a fee but there's 2 conditions that I have to check monthly to make sure I don't get it, minimum direct deposit AND spend a certain amount on the debit card. So much for the account I used to place money and forget. Also, the processing time for deposits/withdrawals is embarrassing

Sea. W. Apr 7, 2020

I've had no issues with this app. Aside from some minor bugs or glitches from updates nothing else wrong. I like the fact that I don't have to remember to put money aside and the savings jar shows me my progress. I would like to see a little more winnings on the games (ie more $0.05 and up wins). Overall, a really solid app if your serious about saving money.

Ant. H. May 8, 2020

The app clearly isn't about savings any more given the introduction of a tier system that requires the use of their debit card to avoid the monthly fee. I've found the app to be extremely sluggish at loading games and the checking account aspect is subpar. Overall, I wouldn't feel remotely comfortable replacing my bank with Long Game which seems to be what they want. Transferring money in and out seems slow and the fact that they aren't part of any ATM network isn't great.

After over two years of regular use and making a direct deposit every week this app has gone from being free to charging a monthly fee. You can be "free" if you directly deposit at least half of your paycheck and spend $100 with their card. This doesn't sound like a savings account anymore. This app now asks you to have a very active debit account. I'm going back to saving at my well known and trusted bank. This service was nice because it was out of site out of mind but I'm not paying to save.

This was a nice little app that was like a savings account and you could win some money etc. Now though they are forcing you to "upgrade" your account without really telling you what that means until your on the next screen and it's not clear what this upgrade means until you've already done it. They give you a trial period of one week then start charging you $3 a month just to have an account unless you deposit so much money a month into their version of a debit account.

It's a savings account with the possibility of free money and cryptocurrency through virtual scratch offs and other such games, and yes, you do win actual money through them. The games and art style are fun and encourage regular checking in with the account, and it does a really good job of making saving less of a budgeting chore and more of an 'impulse purchase.' Highly recommended. I've enjoyed and benefited from saving with Long Game.

I used to love this app, it did help me save up, but recent changes have been a step in the wrong direction. I refuse to pay money to them for the right to save my money. I will keep it in my own bank. Then their is the issue of multiple withdrawals even after being told to stop, with long game claiming that cancelations must be made a week in advanced. Add in it took a week to make a actual deposit and it just becomes frustrating. So sad to see this app go from 5 star to one.

Rewarding App if you are willing to stay for the longhaul. Yes, there is a fee for the app and it is no longer free. A little bummer, but I completely understand the reason they had to start charging. I love the fun games included with the app. Saving points until I accumulate enough and get rewarded in return. Don't get discouraged, hang in there and have fun saving and playing!

Bri. W. Jun 10, 2020

Really enjoyed the app until they started requiring a fee. Yes you can get around this with a direct deposit (which I had), but I only used the checking account for mostly transferring money between this account and my other bank so I never had much in there. Why would I want to keep this account if you require me to have $100 in my checking account just out of the blue? They upped the basic interest this earns, but the games seem to be paying out much less. Just look for an online bank with a high interest rate...way more reliable and at least they notify you when they lower the rate.

Solid app. Depositing for savings is super easy. Withdrawing when needed has been timely and simple. It's really nice when I forget about the app and then months later am reminded somehow and suddenly have a lot more money than I thought! It's like finding money in a jacket that's been in my closet for months, but the money kept growing!

dav. g. May 28, 2020

Well the app was nice for a while but the whole point of saving is not to spend. With the $3/month fee your losing money. I have never won a big prize in almost a year of using the app. I most certainly have not won $3/month in the past year. I would like to thank you though i would not have researched into crypto without being exposed to it in this app. As for now im closing my account until they support the whole goal of saving.

Che. K. Dec 6, 2018

I'm really enjoying this app. So far, from the games I've won around $2.50 out of pure luck of course. I can't wait to start seeing the interest accrue. I love getting on every day collecting the brains and playing the lottery style games, I also love the fact that the more you have saved the more coins you get so it makes me want to save more!! I'm not going to lie, I have the auto save set up and I also add more just to get more coins to play the games.. Wish I thought of the concept myself, I give it a 5 star thumbs up!!

MK. H. Nov 18, 2019

Very easy, safe, and fun little app. I play the games maybe once a week and otherwise just let it sit. Then every few months I'll have enough saved without thinking to pocket for a nice vacation. The ramp-up in currency a few months ago where they switched everything from 1k coins to 10k coins was pretty annoying to get used to, but overall it's exactly what it advertises and has been proven for me to be very safe and reliable.

I've used this app for at least 2 years. Loved it. Was able to save money. Always thought out of sight out of mind and before I knew it I was saving hundreds of dollars. But now you don't seems to win anything anymore not even coins. Now you have to pay $3 or use their card or deposit alot of money. Not worth it to me anymore. Then they had the nerve to email me asking me to rate them high because their rating went down well maybe you should change something then. Time to take my money and dip.

Eli. O. May 26, 2020

This was a fun SAVINGS app until the recent update. Now you have to deposit money into a separate account and spend a minimum of $100/mo from the new account in order to not be charged $3. And there wasn't a way to even opt out of signing up for the new bank account. I was forced to open a brand new checking account just to get into the app and withdraw my money. This app went from a "gambling" savings app to a straight up gambling app. This has to be illegal. Pay to play and win is gambling. Update: As a response to the company's response, the option to close the account and withdraw was there but I had millions of coins to use first and a bunch of entries in the weekly drawing. Those are EARNED coins for letting the app earn interest on my money for a long time. I had to use the coins to have a chance at gaining some interest on my savings so simply closing the account and withdrawing without being given the opportunity to spend my earned coins was a terrible option. If I could have cashed my coins in for a pittance of interest instead that would have been great. I've managed to get $0.45 interest by gambling with those coins. Woohoo. So rich.
