Works very well as it does on PC. It's not quite so great on an S7 active especially for some engines I've created with it, small games should have no issues at all. Major games if not optimized won't run well. I make small game demos for fun, so this is a great way to test code or even run full games. Currently I'm testing my game engine on the phone release. The 11.3 update is so nice <3 much love guys !
Very awesome game framework for making 2D games because it's easy for beginners and has a friendly community where you can ask questions if you're confused. I recently found this a few months ago and it's actually great if you're starting game development or you don't know where to start or what to do. Also, people who made bad reviews about this and said that "this is just a clickbait or gif" are just stupid. It requires a code editor to run and make games with this. Love this app very much!
I love this app. I use it on my Windows 10, and its easy to get familiar with LÖVE lua. I reccomend it to any new programmer. TO ALL THOSE ONE STAR REVIEWS: im pretty sure this is just for playtesting mobile versions of löve games. It requires a text editor to run code YOU create (one that runs lua, to be precise) theres no game because you need to write one (And, how could that possibly be a GIF?)
Simply the best game framework for mobile. For those of you who can't make it work, all you have to do is make a folder and name it lovegame, then make a file in that folder and call it main.lua and use a text editor to do some coding in that file(I'm using acode) and it'll work
Used to use .10 and could get files to open. File managers no longer let me choose love as an option to open files. Could not add as an option. Nothing past .9 Works on computer either. Access to older version would be nice. File extension .lua does not show love2d as an option. Used xplore to try. No love as * option.
Thank you to the review on here that helped me get this running! Creating a folder named lovegame worked for me. This will be fun to play around with while at the DMV or otherwise have some time to kill away from my PC
Great app. Only problem is that there's no way to run games made for older versions of LOVE (for example: Mari0 AE, which is made for 0.10.0 and only 0.10.0). Please add an option to support choosing the version of LOVE we want to use.
Weak installation instructions and startup function. Using Open-as in X-Plor does not work. Some versions of Android will only run lovegame from main storage; this isn't covered in the instructions. Requiring the game to be lovegame means you can only have one game at a time: dismal. Probably should use a browser dialog to get the game folder, so it's easy to use and understand. Games often require a number of libraries, no info here as to how to get that going. Basically not very useful for anything but a demo.
It's great to have a Love compiler for my android, however I was unable to get my game to run using the file viewer method. I was able to run my code by putting it in a /lovegame/ directory
love2d 11.3 doesn't work, it shows a blackscreen every time i run anything, but 11.2 from the repository works fine. it could be a regression. otherwise good game engine
This is a great use of the framework. Love2d + termux + file manager = powerful game dev environment! My only criticism is the release cycle - I'm left to either use 0.* from the play store (and stay locked into this version of the API) or sideload 1.* from bitbucket. Is there any blockers keeping an upgrade from happening?
It does not work every time, but this is the staple of every 2D game development. It is not a GIF, and the 'GIF' is an indication that no game is ported.
Yay finnaly :p. COMPUTERCRAFT EMEULATOR AND OTHER GAMES I MIGHT DOWNLOAD HERE I Come. Edit I use FX explorer and I cant open a love file in love2d bc FX explorer say as of late 2018 Google has did a content url thingy blah blag blag and I don't know how to fix that but still 5 stars :O edit2 I used my default file explorer and it worked Yayayayayayyay :D
Nice! I'm loving the engine. Works well as the PC version. I need a bit of help though, I want to use 'am' (activity manager) to launch the app through the terminal... Is it possible to pass the main.lua file or .love files as an argument? If so, how do you pass it to am?
Excellent for light game programming on the go. You will need to find a code editor that suits you and ideally a file manager and then you are good to go.
Very good app, underrated. People don't even know what this is yet they give bad reviews telling it is a GIF. Read the description, this is not a game. You are supposed to open .love game files with this. (It is a port of the game making framework Love2D)
for people who are confused by the duck balloon: this app is not a game. it's a game engine, and an indispensable tool that any 2d or 3d game developer should at least consider using.
It's good and easy to use, but please can you put a tutorial that's simple? It can be on youtube, or on a website, just need it. Thanks!
;-; I cant do this but I rate it five star love.graphics.setdefaultfilter('nearest, 'nearest', 1) this one ;-; I love to make a game to start but without defaultfilter ;-;
Thanks a lot for bringing this to mobile... Using it with Acode code editor and Pixel Studio.. I am able to make an amazing platformer on android itself.. Thnx again to the developers
It's a good app but my keyboard won't respond when the game wants me to input a name. Why must the creators make this awkward to use when the keyboard letters won't let me input my name in a game?
I have not seen what thus app has for me. Cause all i see is a balloon gif with a tail. There is nothing else. Please fix this bug. I would add more. But im kids drunk and can't think.. sorry hahaha i know there is some info that may help.
This is a wonderful application meant for creating games using the löve engine, so many people do not comprehend its purpose and hence they leave misinformed reviews bashing the app for no reason, please do take your time to read the app's description, thank you😉
this is the worst game I can ever use to make a game. when I first played it just showed me the no game there is no file that I can use with it. not only was it a waste of my time it was also using data.whoever made this should be fired.thats all I have to say
Couldn't get it work on chromebook. Couldn't figure out how to make it work. My advice, DON'T use android or chrome os to try and run this app because it WILL NOT WORK.
Seems to work perfectly so far, i wanted to be able to work my code with my tablet as im not on pc often, thank you Löve to have made this possible.
Not for dumb end-users, but fantastic for people like me. Thanks very much for this port.
Why is the No-Game the only thing in my screen? And when i double tap anywhere, theres the exit and cancel button. Like, is this it? Exit and Cancel?
It says: no game-screen when i try to open it and i just downloaded it fix that if you want people to use your app :(
People complaining about it just being a gif... they clearly have never used lov2d before. It is working as intended. However, I could not get it to work. I followed each of the instructions and none of them worked. When I got to X-plore and try to open it with LOVE for android, it doesn't show up (11.3 version). Please update instructions for a proper/updated way to run games. If not the developer, someone who has got it working, can you please share how you did it.
