Lovecraft Quest: Cthulhu Rising

Lovecraft Quest is a сomics style game inspired by the works of Howard Phillips Lovecraft - a recognized master of the horror genre. You have to avoid traps, solve puzzles and react very fast fleeing from Lovecraftian horrors which fill the labyrinth of the Temple of Nameless Cults.

You’ll meet the lord of the Deep Ones - Dagon, the servant of the Ancients - Shoggoth and, perhaps, Cthulhu himself! The plot twists, life and common sense of the main character depend completely on your decisions.

I felt that the comic book art style was cool, if unexpected. Similarly, the puzzles were difficult, but not too challenging, and most of them were really intuitive. I felt that the "shoggoth escape" mini game was a bit rough, especially when it threw a sudden "tap to break" mechanic in at the last second. But I think that, overall, it works. Also, it's rather short, and once you've mastered the mechanic, it doesn't outstay its welcome. It's not a perfect game, but it's definitely worth a play.

A fun, simple game with a very distinctive graphics style. I liked that the dungeons seemed to have an element of random generation so I couldn't memorize the floor. Sometimes, however, the randomization led to a floor that's very difficult (or impossible) to solve. And the last puzzle, with the golden locks, was actually unsolvable for me. I probably spent a total of two hours on it, in 15-minute blocks. No fun right at the end!

A new take on the old Hunt The Wumpus game, with added puzzles. Pros: Beautiful artwork, sound, music, atmosphere. A variety of puzzles to figure out. Cons: No replay value. Only 2 levels and layouts never change - contents are shifted, but layout is same. Screenshot the map, it's always the same. Puzzles are exactly the same every play through. If you beat them before you can do it again. Endings are easy to get, artifacts require serious grinding to find.

I loved every single piece of this game! At first I was a bit skeptic. It felt as though getting the right room was a matter of luck. But the brilliant thing about this game - it is never random. Honestly, navigating the dungeons reminds me of Minesweeper (think about it, it makes scene). The side puzzles were interesting but not frustratingly hard. The sound, the graphics, the story... everything is on point! I'd love to see: bigger dungeons, checkpoints/save options, more content in general :)

It is a short game with quick time events, puzzles, and classic choose-your-own-(mis)adventure, branching narration that will delight players. The comicbook inspired artwork fits in well with the pulp, cosmic-horror fiction. Just like those classic adventure games of decades past, there are many ways to perish and only one correct path towards the end. Fortunately you respawn at the start of the current floor of the dungeon (of the three available) and don't have to restart. Recommended!

It's a fun strategy-like game with different endings and stuff to discover. There are though some things that are just left in "luck".. like the map. Also the puzzle in the end it's a bit tricky. I would like the game to be bigger, like with more dungeons and stuff, but it's nice and fun to pass sometime. Also good for comic fans.

great game, but not quite enough. game beaten and all achievements unlocked in a few hrs of play. the only real challenge is the vault door. shuggoth run needs 6-12 more options so it isnt the same 6 on each floor. needs a "turn off tips" option. needs more levels, more maps, more monsters and more puzzles. great art and music and use of Lovecraft's themes and moods. great start to a Really good game, (why itnis getting 3 stars instead of 2) but it feels more like a demo than a full game.

This game creates a real sense of hopelessness on a first-time playthrough, and you quickly begin to dread the moments when the main character detects a disturbance in the other rooms. Finding the map for the first time and navigating the maze for the first time without it feeling like a crapshoot is great. After the first playthrough, however, replayability suffers despite the randomization, due to the long puzzles and predictable gameplay upon finding the map.

This is a choose your own adventure style game with great artwork. To be Lovecraftian the game should produce a feeling of constant forboding and helplessness, which it does. I immediately purchased it to disable ads since I knew it would make the experience unplayable otherwise and it's good to support the development community. It's a good game; but not easy. The game needs a better tutorial though and items picked up don't show up in the inventory.

Mazes with maps, traps, fleeing and shooting are amazing. More of that along with some great story events and perhaps some more gameplay/maze ideas would have been fantastic. Unfortunately maze part is too shallow to make you wanna keep playing and you'll repeat the same old puzzles which just get in the way. "Story" severely lacking - after beating a puzzle (last one) it'll abruptly end with a brief mention that a monster kills all of humanity; game over. Just bland filler, really.

Such a fresh game to stumble upon on this Playstore. Cool and immersive graphics and sounds. Simple yet hooking story. Adapting to the constant map reconfiguration is my favourite puzzle. Completing achievements are hard (as it should be, I guess) even for a completionist like me. The game is bit short though once you've grasped the mechanics. Would love to have a sequel or a spin-off of some sorts in the same vein as this!

A great atmospheric game with a near inpossible puzzle at the end, resulting in a maddning sensation so well associated with the Lovecraftian genre. I honestly love this game, and the single problem I have with it, (not being in control of when the game saves,) isn't an actual problem, given how short the game is, and it actually adds to the difficulty and overall experience. 5/5

As the optional "tell us more" questions it asks "is this game challenging?" and i put "not sure" as its actually mostly just random based. I Love the artwork, the simpler yet fun take on a classic story, and even the choice gameplay is fun. Its just that there is No indication for Anything, no timing based or answer flash tap, no ideas or hint of how to beat minigames. I know its Cthulu and they may have wanted the randomly hard difficulty to show that but comes off less fun than challenging.

Good game. Kinda too easy. Need more content . Pretty fun nonetheless. It's a puzzle game really. If you don't like puzzle games I doubt you would like it. The map system is pretty unique. It's like minesweeper but the map is like a tree or graph with 3 child for each node and need to be traversed for child node hints. I think I haven't found 2 same type of trap room linking each other. However, different types of trap nodes may link. May this information be useful for other player.

Superb art and a fun game of logic, I recommend to fans of Lovecraft and puzzle games. Amazing work! My only real complaint is a " puzzle" in particular involving timed reaction. It is just annoying, especially due to having to click on a specific part on a tiny screen. That was a pain to complete and not entetaining.

For a Cthulu based game i was happy that the puzzles weren't made background to the game's progression. The logic is fun and you can get past the rooms with luck it you don't want to think too hard about it. Most of the puzzles required just a bit of memorization and planning but with time are doable. The ending was enjoyable since it is a cthulu game after all. For critique i would say however that it should change the button from being labeled as pick the lock into poke an eye. And that the 4 stone plates for sake of constant rememberance should maybe have arrows or some decal pointing to the other stones they move. If only because while the rules are constant for the last puzzle. The rotating stone plates can get a little frazzling if you aren't used to memorizing the patterns. Personally it reminds me of old cluefinders and Carmen Sandiego games which rocked. And i hope to see more puzzles in the future

The game uses minesweeper mechanics in a fun way, art is also good. Final puzzle managed to cause me some trouble, but you'll stumble on the solution eventually. Otherwise, it's a pretty standard labyrinth that yearns for more interaction, more objects, more randomness, more insanity (?) It will keep you busy for an hour or less.

I'm definitely enjoying this. It actually reminds me of the Wumpus World puzzle which probably helped me get the ending that requires getting all the way through. Edit: by now, I have completed the game all the way. All endings and all artifacts. Was a bit tedious trying to get the artifacts and I had to look up how to get one of them, but I still enjoyed it. Would be awesome if there could be sequels featuring other figures from the mythos. (I especially hope for Hastur! 😊)

Truly one of the undiscovered gems in the Play Store. It's short, the main game was easy enough after you figured out the trick, and there are plenty challenging puzzles which aren't forced unlike many other games from this genre. Very fantastic for a free game, would definitely pay for a longer version.

Great experience. Last puzzle is a bit beyond me, and when you complete it and fail the next part (avoiding spoilers) you have to restart it. Other then that set back, I had a lot of fun with the layout and design. I am sure I will keep trying at some point to finish it.

Nice game. Nice atmosphere. It is a kind of puzzle game. Solved the game in about 2 hours. maybe a bit less. People, that can solve a rubix cube should be able to "beat" the game :3 Cheers :3 Edit: Here I was, giving the game 5 stars. Now down to 2! Because: I cannot RESET it! I am in front of the last riddle. I want to start NEW, but I CANNOT! Please help! It was fun, but I'd like to play it again! I cannot! :/ 2nd Edit: ok found it in the EXTRAS screen.

Jus. F. Feb 23, 2019

great concept. but on the 2nd floor the sybotic treasure chest is more like playing a slot, 6 eyes rotate each at a different speed, failing any will reset all. and it does not stop when you tap, like a slot, even when you think you have the rotation down, it just doesnt seem to get in that small window.

Very nice little puzzle game, loved the passage ways and different outcomes. Just find that there is no real replay value and that it is over too quickly. I loved the art style and would recommend it to someone looking for a short sweet HP Lovecraft puzzle.

i liked the game. my only problem is that once you get to the end puzzle. it checkpoints there no matter if you beat it or lose. even closing the game and restarting then enter dungeon takes you straight there. so i cant unlock the last ending. last puzzle hint dont read if you wanna figure it out.all you have to do remember which are in original locked position and from left to right top to bottom click the locked do it then to the new order of locked
