Great content, but it's too quiet! It's ok under normal circumstances but I struggle to hear it if I go in the shower or if I walk near traffic (I am using speakers and earphones which amplify the sound). Which is frustrating. I also think it could be easier to navigate, but I probably just need to get used to it.
If this is going to essentially be a pod catcher with access to a dozen or so exclusive shows it may help to allow users to input RSS feeds of pods that don't pop up in the search menu. The player que is buggy. Qued up several pods only for each episode to get stuck on the last 2 seconds and loop until I closed out and restarted the app. Aside from that, exclusives need to drop at least bi-weekly or weekly or be longer. One flag ship show only has the equivalent of 5 full episodes after a year.
I mainly got this app for the new Black Star album, it's a good app only problem I have with it is that it doesn't stay on for a duration of time, I expected that we could listen to podcasts or music while our phones, not the case it's stops after a couple of seconds or minutes
App doesn't remember what I was playing and doesn't have option to download the new black star album for offline listening. Over lacking feature expected from a listening service.
I downloaded the app just to listen to the new black star album, which is a luminary exclusive. Everytime I click to subscribe, the app crashes. This is not very hopeful. Hopefully this album will be posted on other streaming sites, I don't need another subscription.
Just installed this to get some podcasts...my god what a terrible app! "Swipe right on trailers you like"...ok...swiped right. Thumbnail disappears but trailer keeps playing and no new trailer appears. Ok skip that. Yry to subscribe...subscribe button is dead. Can I give zero stars? Embarrassingly bad
Great content. Got this for the new Black Star as I'm sure many right now are. But the interface is truly awful. How do I even get the next track to play without manually starting it? Not good.
Really great idea, the UI has a few kinks though and sometimes navigating the app is weird. Still, definitely recommend
One of the best audio/ podcast apps available. Content is very consistent, exclusive and easy to navigate.
I feel like there could be more podcasts that are exclusive to the subscription. Right now I only use it for like... one single podcast. If more horror stuff like Spooked then maybe it'll be worth keeping instead of cancelling and resubscribing when they get more episodes.
Great app. Russell Brand's podcast, Under The Skin is why I downloaded the Luminary App. Way more beneficial than social media, a healthier way to spend your time.
Can you guys put some links in your new release notifications? I need a notepad to jot down what I want to play when I open the app, and it'll be 20 clicks and two searches if I find it at all. What a messy interface. Is it a new literary art format? ☆Luminary, the abstract brut digital stream: Go Fishin'!☆
Great app.... Super dope that they dipped into exclusive music- Black Star.. worth the subscription price.
I have this only because of Russell Brand. No issues with app itself, only wish it was compatible with Android Auto.
Great app with tons of interesting podcasts with relevant subject matter. You will have a truely Luminous experience
Russell Brand's - under the skin and Above the noise podcasts are the reasons I downloaded this app as well his podcasts are the reason I purchased the year subscription. I saw this quote after I listened to your podcast the other day. "Every time you are tempted to react in the same old way. Ask if you want to be the prisoner of the past or the pioneer of the future" -Deepak Chopra
Looks like soke good content, but haven't had the chance to digest it all yet
I subscribed to hear full Under the skin show and I'm more than happy to pay the subscription. I understand why downloaded episodes are "crypted" and can be played only through an app and i agree with it. But not being able to choose, where these potentially large and numerous files can be stored by default on may phone or move them manually to SD card, is major, major flaw. It makes the app unusable offline. If you ever address this issue, I'll happily subscribe again. Thanks
Subscribed just to listen to one podcast. I want to keep track of which episodes I have listened to, as I don't plan to listen to them strictly in order, but the app refuses to save my setting when I try to use Mark as Played. This is such a simple thing that I should be able to rely on when paying for a subscription...
Navigation is awkward. Managing new and played items is just not easy. Having an archived state like PocketCasts would let me see new items but also tell if I've actually listened to an episode. I don't trust the "played" indicators because they have been wrong in the past. It might better or maybe I'm getting better.
The app is fine for podcast listening. The craziness starts when you try to figure out how to cancel your subscription. Once you figure out to get to settings via "my podcasts" and try to look at your subscription info absolutely nothing happens! Try to leave a comment on the app and it will only let you take a screenshot??
Excellent range of exclusive podcasts. Genuinely the only one I would pay for
Great content. Atrocious interface. Fast forward and rewind are a nightmare (non-existent). Library is not easy to navigate or refer back to previous searches. Please address these issues because, again, great content! Will suffer through for the enjoyable listening.
I really didn't want to leave a negative review , this collection of podcast feature some truly amazing conversations, BUT I pay a monthly subscription and still have to listen to adds W T F☹
I do most of my listening in the car. There's no Android Auto integration so I'm not likely to open Luminary in the car.
Is it possible that there's NO way to rewind or advance in the episodes??? Seriously??? I always skip intros in the podcasts, because some of them go for 10-15 minutes before the get into the interviews. It's not possible with Luminary, or at least I can't see how to do it. What kind of podcast player is that???
Awful podcast app, the UX and playback structure aren't fit for purpose. Apple's Podcast app in 2011 had better functionality than Luminary does in 2021. Sleep timer is bugged. Queue doesn't exist. Re-launching app doesn't resume what you were playing. Navigation and management are abysmal.
Playback is bad, like a badly bootlegged song. Podcast app doesn't keep the app open for longer than 5 minutes if you pause your episode, unlike my preferred podcast app (Google Podcasts). This is kind of a joke. I'm only here because my favorite show has some paywalled episodes. Frankly, I'm going to listen to them all as quickly as I can and then I'm going to uninstall. I can't believe I had to pay for this.
Just not really worth it? Most podcasts on luminary I can find on Spotif. Actually Spotify has more AND they're easier to search for or browse through. You can't search through episodes of a single show if there's one you want to find There's some Luminary exclusive podcasts, but even then you can get parts/ most of them elsewhere. Between the clunky app and the sparse variety in exclusive podcasts it's not really worth paying for imo
5 star content, minus 4 stars for an awful app. Subscribed initially just to listen to Midnight Miracle. First, it will not continue playing when phone screen times out, so I can't listen to podcasts while commuting to and from work unless I get lucky and hit a red light. Now, after being sooooo excited for the new Black Star album, tried listening and it stops mid-song and just starts playing random podcasts. LUMINARY-please fix asap or you're going to lose tons of subscribers.
