The app doesn't connect to my thermostat. The old version worked perfectly. They really gummed up the works with this version. No wonder it's free. If I had written an app that didn't work I'd give it away too! One star is too much! Update: Almost two years later and still waiting for the update to fix this app. Wi-Fi randomly disconnects, usually in the middle of the night. It's still the same P.O.S. it was when they released it. Alexa can't connect but doesn't know it.

Strange setup that doesn't work. Got to step 4 where I choose my wifi from the local list but it only shows one random wifi option from the area? Really should not be this hard to connect. Edit: one week out and many tries and it still can't even connect. Disgustingly bad product. Edit ITS BEEN MONTHS AND IT STILL DOESNT WORK Edit: We are an entire year out from purchase now and it has never once worked right. If you have bought one return it immediately. Save yourselves.

Good customer service. I bought 2, of those, 1 didn't connect to WiFi. Customer service did some troubleshooting, they sent me a new one, all is good. On another note, I lost wifi connection a few times and had to setup the network. Also, controller went nuts a few time and turned on a random "cool" cycle. And do not set to "Auto", otherwise it will use AC and heater to try to maintain exact temperature.

Update - This is laughable, spoke with their supervisor for customer service who informed me that I should take the lux thermostat away from ALL other networks (i.e in the middle of a field) to get it to connect. They flat our refuse to say when they are going to issue updates. Worst customer experience yet. Wow - I thought I must have downloaded the wrong app, because this app looks like its been built by a 12 year old trying to learn how to create their first phone app. Where to even begin with the problems - The biggest one is when setting up a new thermostat, it lists only the first Wifi network, the rest have icons but their names aren't populated (meaning you can't select them) plus since there is no way to manually type in a SSID/Password combo. Filled with mis-aligned buttons, incorrect font sizes, buggy when switching "views"

App disconnects. I see a lot of reviews about the thermostat itself disconnecting from wifi, but the problem I have is that the thermostat is connected just fine but my app says it's disconnected. The only way to reconnect is to attempt to configure the WiFi on the thermostat as if it were disconnected so that the app can find it again and then cancel the setup. You have to do this for each phone it loses connection to. Really disappointed in how useless this has become in the passed year.

Older version of app was way better. New version was horrible when released but has slowly improved. The interface is finally mostly useable. There's a huge delay in changes to when they're transmitted to stat. Temp history is not accurate. Loses connection with app updates and have to remove batteries and hold reset to get app to connect. Customer service was helpful troubleshooting a connection problem. If stat is hard wired do not install battery or app will constantly lose connection.

The statistical temperature graphs now appear to work after a whole heating season of nonsense and disconnects. Now if Johnson will only restore the historical data on the cloud .... Resetting the router automatically and daily helps with keeping the thermostats connected. I have not tried assigning the thermostats to the public wifi channel because they almost always stay connected.

The Worst!! I am about ready to switch to another brand. Too bad Johnson ruined the app. Lux Geo is Constantly disconnecting from app but thermostat still shows connected. It had been fairly stable for some time but terrible now. Was an update to thermostat done recently?? No point in having a wifi thermostat if it can't stay connected!

Every since the last update, the app shows my thermostat to not be connected but the status is in the green. I can make no changes to the temperature while on my cellphone. When I look at my thermostat, it shows it is connected to Wifi. Go figure. The thermostat worked great for years before this last update.

Extremely Poor WiFi [Disconnects] Like everyone else... This app worked fine for a few years then it won't stay connected to the thermostats probably because it uses their servers as a proxy. I usually don't purchase products that require internet connection but my electric company awarded me one so I figured I'd try it and purchased an additional one for my other AC unit. The technical support has been pretty good over the years. Johnson controls need to fix this ASAP. I'm a Network Engineer..

App says offline, unable to connect to internet every few days. Responds to ping on the local network. When checking the LCD on the actual thermostat it says it's connected to the network. The software and/or hardware is too flaky to live with. LUX knows how buggy their equipment is but doesn't care about their customers enough to fix it.

I have written now multiple times as things have progressively gotten worse, no response. Wifi disconnects often and now I just have to remove the tstat from the wall weekly to bi weekly to have it reset and reconnect. Worry eventually the connector will wear out. No longer would recommend Lux. Newest update seems to disconnect the wifi randomly, not seen this before. Schedule shows green yet I have it set to hold? This is a new issue not seen before.

Wifi setup is frustrating, when adjusting the temp it takes 1-3 minutes to communicate/complete the action on the thermostat. The thermostat is the best I found after 3 years of testing and research due to the adjustable temperature swing and various other settings that Honeywell and other name brands don't have, but I wish the app was better

'Loose internet' connection (no it didn't). Directions on unit does not match what has to be done in the App. App thus always is disconnected when you most need it. Anyone researching this on the internet knows this has been an issue for many users. Fix it already.

I am unable to connect my thermosat to my wifi. When I go through the step-by-step process to connect to wifi in the thermostat and app I am unable to finish it. At the step when I select my network in the app nothing changes after I select it. The app keeps me on the same part of the set up process as if I've not selected a network. Additionally I tried to reset my PW and it said it sent me an email to reset it but I never received one.

The run time and temperature profiles are very informative. Scheduling can be awkward. I am also having issues with frequent network disconnects. I didn't have that initially.

I am replacing batteries every month and have the setting to optimized. What a joke. Half the time it doesn't stay connected to wifi so I am constantly rebooting the damn things. Waste of money. Stay away!

Thermostat says connected but app says its not. I've had the thermostat for a few years and I've finally had it with trying to reconnect everything. The thermostat is at my cabin and extremely unreliable. Save yourself the constant headaches of showing up to a cold house and buy a different brand.

Unfortunately this app is a completely worthless piece of junk. I'll be returning my lux thermostat and I regret having bought it in the first place. Gives me error of "device already registered". Probably the only way to fix this is to send it back to the factory. I certainly will not waste any of my time with their technical support.

Updated review: was able to reconnect to wifi and things were great for a month. Today my Lux Geo disconnected AGAIN and I cannot reconnect even though the 4th try my thermo screen said it worked! But app says no, still offline and I hate this thing.

Luk. S. Dec 17, 2021

The unit will not stay connected to wifi. Won't reconnect automatically. Very inconvenient when away. Poor unit. Only plus side is the app seems to be easy to use

Mic. R. Mar 31, 2022

Box should say "WIFI thermostat not intend to use with WIFI". I have three of the Geo units on my cabin. Connectivity to wifi constantly goes down and its within 6 feet of base station. Constantly have to remove and add the thermostat to the app. Hire a kid out of grade school to write the next app. No offense to grade schoolers intended.

I really thought it was going to work. Now customer service won't answer my calls. I've shown them video of my issues and haven't been able to get help. I want my money back for this stupid expensive thermostat. They waited so long to give any kind of tech support that it's now too late for me to return to the store. I wish I'd never bought the damn Lux Kono.

Edited 9 Dec 21 -- After waiting for over a year, this application and the corresponding hardware, is still not ready for general usage. At least once a week I would loose my connection to Google Home. Sometimes, it would drop multiple times in a day. Every few weeks, my Lux GEO would disconnect from the Internet (always at midnight) and be off-line until I did a power cycle of the unit. I had multiple firmware updates to my unit, requiring me to reset the temperature calibration and/or display settings each time. The UI to the application did improve a bit over the year, but it still was cumbersome. The biggest issue was that I could not change the temperature settings on my pad (Android 11) but it worked fine on my phone (Android 9.) And the widget never worked on either device. A minor, but laughable issue, is that the weather forecast in the upper-right corner was for the previous day. Just how useful is yesterdays weather forecast? I also miss the ability to see/download my heating data that was previously available on the the web portal. The two-weeks worth of graphic data presented in the application is pretty, but not very useful when calculating my monthly energy usage. Since it has become so unreliable, I have replaced my GEO with an Ecobee 3. This provides pretty much everything I had before Lux ruined the GEO. This is a pity as the GEO worked fine for many years until the last major “upgrade.”

Disconnects and after uninstalling and re installing app it still will not connect. Reoccurring problem way to often for no good reason. I have to keep taking batteries out and resetting.

If I could take away stars, I would. But I cant, so you get a 1. When you go to connect the thermostat to a network it only shows the first result, which is almost never your network. It's 100% unusable garbage and why Johnson Controls thinks they have any business making thermostats or software is beyond me. This is on a Pixel 6 Pro so if it doesn't work on my phone it doesn't work on anyone's phone. Google needs to remove this garbage from it's store, it does not meet standards.
