It's a great app however because of the display size you cannot see learning paths. In an easy to navigate manner. Also you cannot set the resolution quality as you can with the web app. For instance when you're learning to code it is essential that you see the text you don't care how long it takes for it to load. They have chosen the responsiveness of the video over the resolution and sometimes even if you pause it hoping that it will load in the background, at full resolution, it doesn't work.
Audio only is buggy. It only plays for 10ish sec after phone goes to sleep/ app is minimized, then stops playing. When i replay, the section starts from beginning! It skips all quizzes like they don't exist. I wish it can pause and tell me that I had a quiz! Lol if I'm not physically watching this app, it'll sabotage me in the ways I need to use the app. Other than that, it's really helpful.
The app doesn't work on my phone for the last 2 years. I have Google Pixel 2 XL with latest android version and I have reinstalled the app many times but it still doesn't work at all. I have sent feedback to the app developers many times but no response and the app haven't been fixed. I am not sure if the app is not compatible with current or future updates from Android. However I like the web version and I visit it regularly.
Watching videos through the app is... fine. But my login information isn't saved, so i have to manually sign in every time (signing in through library), the sign in process has a tendency of hanging up and taking over a minute to complete, and then the overall app experience is fairly buggy. I never did get any videos to download, which was the main reason I wanted the mobile app in the first place. Uninstalled, i really hope Lynda gets their act together with all of their apps.
The application is good. But I've faced a flaw, now-a-days, the mobile phones are coming with a full screen display or infinite display. So in Lynda some part of the video are cut, and couldn't be able to see in those phones. And why doesn't it has the video quality control. Please work on it.
The experience is just ok, download management is bad, it's also missing the learning paths. It's really inconvenient to have to create a playlist to be able to access a leaving path, and to have to consult said playlist all the time because the downloads are all over the place and not in order. Also, on phones with aspect ratios larger than 16:9 the videos are cropped on the top and bottom, with no option to set aspect ratio. Privacy notification all the time is annoying. Overall, must improve.
Nice interface, but the player doesn't stream as smoothly for me as other apps. The image is constantly freezing, and the audio pops and repeats while trying to load the buffer. This app probably works best on a WiFi network, at least for someone with my hardware/network combination (Pixel 2, T-Mobile ONE).
I have had the iOS version, pc version and android version of this app and to my experience the android app works best. The layout of the app is smooth and simple. It's awesome to be able to downloads so many videos to watch offline. I got a subscription through college (graphic design related) and I'm so grateful. They have such a wide variety of subjects and skills (including life skills).
Your android application on my honor play is showing cropped videos when I play them in landscape mode. "How do I know they're cropped you ask??" Well I was laptop to view your content on website when I wanted to use my laptop to work and watch the SAME video on my android. So I came to know about the cropped thing. Also your website has a irritating bug where the video time bar doesn't automatically closes itself after some given period of time. I have to manually force move the cursor/mouse to make it automatically close. This is irritating. This happens on autoplay as well. Fix these two issues ASAP!!
Audio messes up and course files aren't available. Sometimes when playing different videos the audio will double on top of what is already there but a few seconds off, so you'll hear the speaker say everything twice. Also the courses mention course materials but there's nowhere in the app to retrieve these materials.
Buddy app. Sound overlaps. Sometimes no sound at all. Sometimes keep loading the video forever even though it's downloaded to the phone. This app hasn't been updated for over a year now and there's no excise for it when you pay $25/month for Linda services. I'm still using it, but it's a bit of a pain at times.
there are multiple orientation issues with the app. also asks to accept the terms everytime you install thats fine but even after that when you open the app to continue to a course you started you need to accept the same terms again & again which is kind of irritating.🤯don't have double tap feature like YouTube to carry forward/backward but a 10 sec backward button.doesn't have option to continue course where you left off it starts from beginning😠😠 & which gives you a pooped 💩 app experience
Aside from the bar covering some of the video issue as other describe, the playback speed doesn't seem to line up. When I set it to 1x, it's like slow motion, and even at 2x it's maybe playing at 1.25x. Resorted to watching through the browser on my device as it worked better, though obviously still not a great experience.
Great app. One bug fix that should be addressed is the Offline experience. When you go offline, there is no way (that I can tell) to have the app check your online status without shutting it down. Otherwise, very useful. Great content.
Really great website, but app really needs an upgrade. It keeps telling me I'm offline when I'm clearly online! Just because I leave the app for a moment and go back, it freaks out on me and tells me I'm not connected to the Internet?! I have to force stop the app every time that error happens! So yes, great website, horrible app! Please fix this!
Useful only while connected to network. my primary use would be to use downloaded content on metros or flights, and app is not working in these conditions. Also sometimes seems to start 2 parallel audio-streams work no possibility to control other one.
App currently is so buggy. Video stream is not good. Due to network slowness, if video is loading, after buffer, only audio plays and video is stuck somewer. This is very irritating. I really unhappy with the state Lynda app is right now compared to udemy.
Typical video playback features like closed captioning or continuous streaming when you turn off the screen are missing. App is only useful if you can stare at the screen at all times, god forbid you have to walk.
I'm signed in to the Lynda app, but when I open a Lynda url, it opens in the web browser where I'm not signed in. Cannot locate a sign in button in the browser version, so I can't view the courses my employer assigned me. searching the exact same of the course in the app doesn't bring it up. The only search results are barely related. Can't search by author.
Please do something about different screen ratios, watching on fullscreen cuts off the top and bottom parts of the video. Also, it would be nice if you allow landscape rotation on both sides.
Great Content but videos constantly stop in audio only mode forcing the user to reopen the video/app making the content nore hastle than it's worth. Dropped down to one star as it appears to degrade worse with use interruptions can be separated by 2-3 minutes sometimes but now I'm down to 30 second intervals of having to restart the videos
When in fullscreen view, the video player cuts off the top & bottom portion of the video where the status bar is, which is essential when trying to learn various computer programs as it prohibits the viewer from actually getting the full learning experience.
The app works well for the most part and has a lot of potential, but on numerous occasions, I've had an issue with the videos playing multiple instances of the same audio when I've tried seeking to a part before or after where the video was originally playing. Closing out of the app will fix this, but it's definitely annoying when you're trying to go back to hear something again and then have to start the app all over again, killing your momentum.
