You need to enable "network sharing" in settings on your Mac, which isn't on by default. Explains many bad reviews on this app, which maybe needs explaining more obviously instead of a basic error message considering how many bad reviews have been left for that issue. Once you get over that, and learn the basic script commands, there's no limit! Thanks
Works fine, but I think it should be explicit on the tutorial that to do this **Click Remote Login and click lock if You have one** is a required step. I was getting the IP address in another way and just couldn't connect until I clicked in this option. I was not clear in the tutorial that this is step was necessary. It seemed that it was just a way to get the IP>
I have been looking for an app that does exactly this for a while, this is by far the most easiest out there. Simple and easy to set up and does what the description says. Has a really nice user interface as well. The only thing that I would say could be improved is to have more spotify features to enable users to actually select certain song instead of just skipping through a playlist
Add autoconnect option dude, its so simple to code and so annoying to do manually, each time I open it. I will give 5 stars back. The description is correct. It does what other apps do but with minimal design so you dont have to click 7 times to do something. It lacks some extended functionality for some apps (which is actually good thing - UI is clean and simple) Therefor I keep around VLC remote (spotify...) aps for that and those tasks are needed only rarely.

I'm using htc one. While using spotify, the forward, backward and play button couldnt work. Please fix
The best thing is that you can easily add and customise other apps and mess with the functions of the buttons.
This is the simplest remote app that I have used. It is also the only app that works out of box with my university wifi. The UI is very clean and effective.
I have inserted the right username, password and IP Address. They are all right yet it does not work. I have even visited the support website which is located on the login of the app, yet that was no help at all. All I wanted was a remote for my mac so I wouldn't have to get out of bed to turn Spotify on, gutted.
But just a suggestion can you add the option to make media players full screen or make it small. That would be great
If only more apps would be this simple to use. Sadly, it's not working on Yosemite.

I put the correct username, passowrd, and IP address numerous times but for some reason it does not work. I followed every step including the terminal and system preferences(sharing).

Nice vlc remote. This is just what I wanted. I love the ssh connection because there is no need for extra apps on the other side.

Set up in less than 1 minute! No lag like other apps, free and works flawlessly. Love this app for controlling spotify app on mac.
For those who get connection errors: you actually have to keep the "Remote Login" box in system preferences checked. The help page omits this fact even though there is a photo of the preferences pane on the help page.
Unlike wifi based remote apps this one doesn't require wifi or bluetooth connection. I would highly recommend the dev to update for the latest MS powerpoint app & also Vox music player.

Really easy to set up, great remote! I love the simplicity and interface. However, the dev should add immersion mode and have credentials remembered, and maybe some more Spotify functionality.
Works very well with the apps on my Mac . for those that are having problems, make sure your Mac has remote login selected cos I had that problem initially lol

Coll app to control you mac when you're from anywhere in your home. Works flawlessly for me never had an issues. Very easy, nice clean app. 5*! If we could have the ability to control more mac apps and customise the app list on the left in the app it would be brilliant! Keep up the good work.
Works perfectly. I have an apple remote which is fine, but this app allows me to add in different specific apps to control. Plus there are other features as well like brightness control, sleep, etc. Also, only permission requested is in-app purchases. Nice that the dev didn't just throw in a bunch of unneeded/unwanted stuff.
