Messy layout, not intuitive. Despite subscribing to this newspaper, the app is littered with ads. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel provides a much better app experience.
The opening page of headlines of this latest version is cluttered and difficult to read. Doesn't seem well organized. The previous version was visually much cleaner and clearer.
This app is terrible since the upgrade. It is very hard to see the headlines. It used to be my go to source for Madison area news. I am deleting it and switching to a different news media app.
Takes forever to load. Much slower than the web page. And it's a pretty ugly interface. Will delete.
New version requires permission to modify system settings. Totally unnecessary. Uninstalling.
I'm asking to have an option to turn off notifications for all sports on all levels.

The app disconnected from wifi & burned 3gb of data on my phone over 1.5 days.
Too many adds. Barely resembles a news outlet.
Since the last time I reviewed this, the app went through a major overhaul. New app, still one star. I am a digital subscriber and still have to click out of pop up ads. Like 5 times in one minute. You cannot maintain any flow when reading a single article. Ads are fine, I expect them here just as in a print edition, but when I'm reading a story about a mass shooting and a travel company ad suddenly pops up, that's not just disruptive, its offensive. The app is also oddly laid out.
I don't know what changed recently, but for the last several days when I open the app, within a few seconds of opening it, it closes and reopens and does this over and over making the app impossible to use. I'd give it zero stars if possible. It is that bad.
New release simply doesn't work. Tries to modify settings then stops. Reinstall didn't fix the problem. It was a poor app to start with. Now it's useless.

The app promises to stop ads when you register your subscription, but the registration process doesn't work. Not very impressive.
Can't control push notifications without turning them off entirely. Tried to give feedback about this in the app, which then gave an error and wouldn't send it.
I am paying for a subscription and yet the ads will not disappear. 2000 era app that needs to be updated and function for subscribers.

Not user friendly. We want to turn off the push notifications as they are so annoying. Madison. Con idea of breaking news is absurd. We do not need "breaking news" that lawmakers are divided on prospects to cut school finding our that Paul Soglin is considering running for governor. Save breaking news for the big stuff. Also the app on the phones only let you see a small portion of the news.
Update Jun. 2017: App has been reverted to the poor version of mid-2016, which is at least usable. Update Nov. 2016: I still love my local news source but I'll now be reading only via the website, which means less often. This latest update is unusable and I have uninstalled it. Here's my previous review, which is still true: With each update the ads get more annoying and the content gets more sparse. There is no longer access to many types of content such as editorials. And the ratio of Racine stories is increasing.
It's hard to read on a cellphone when half of the front page is taken up by an advertisement. In the settings I set to not receive notifications of sports of the Badgers (actually I'd rather not get any sports notifications, but that's not a choice). Anyways, I got more notifications of sports than anything else. Annoying!
