Magic DosBox is an incredible piece of software. Talk about getting your money's worth. I've been able to play my favorite old computer RPGs from the ancient days of computing smoothly and with incredible customization of the UI at my fingertips. I've created perfectly tuned UI elements for each game that I've installed, and everything has worked as intended. Really, the best money I've ever spent on the Play Store. I'd give six stars if I could. Thank you for all your work.
The app is good for the most part, but there is an issue when switching from portrait to landscape mode. Using an 8bitdo SN30 and SN30 PRO, the dpad inputs work fine in Portrait view, but instantly stop working when flipping the phone to landscape view. This doesn't appear to be an issue with the controllers as other emulators don't have this issue.
By far the best Android DosBox. The sophistication, degree of customisation, and transferability of the touchscreen interfaces you can design for DOS games is astonishing. Support is top notch too. Other DosBoxes can just about make a game "playable", this is the only one to make them genuinely enjoyable. I've just completed Ultima Underworld on my phone, and was able to design an interface that worked way better than the original game's did when I played it back in 1992!
This app is awesome, it really adds new content to my chromebook while keeping space constraints in mind. I do have one request if possible. Can frameskip options be adjusted in easy config. By default its set to frame skip 2. My chromebook is strong enough to handle skip 0 for a smooth experience. On a side note how do I set up a controller for it, I didn't grow up with DOS so im very new and I like to use it for Mega Man X.
Great emulator, possibly the best one on Android for Dos. Easy customizable controls and config for all games, and a nice little guide to start you off. Having trouble however with the widget layers, I used to have a portrait and landscape setup for Daggerfall, but now it only ever shows the portrait layer even if i hide it. besides that, it's basically perfect, ive already beaten TES: Arena using this, a game i would have never played otherwise. Thank you MagicDosbox Dev(s).
Way better than Dosbox Turbo and Manager. Could use a more material (or just cleaner) design, but it is very intuitive for the average techie. I like that this is more containerized. Criticism: Better design (in terms of theme and color choices) Being able to drop existing games into Collections (folders) Icon could be something nicer (personal preference) Some games require a joystick and a "fire" button, that I can't find a setting for mapping or emulating, such as Destruction Derby. I like it a lot and hope it keeps on improving. Better tutorials with improved production value would be nice. Add a "buy me a beer" donation link even in the paid version somewhere, so people can contribute more if they want.
This emulator is incredible. No doubt the developers put real effort in it. It supports bluetooth controllers, save states, mouse emulation, you can design your own keys layout, can set keys size, position even background. Save seperates layout for each and every game. Create shortcuts for games executables. And much more... Amazing !!!! It would be real great if there is an option to add photo on icons of game shortcuts we create
This is the best DosBox version I've found on the Play Store. It supports external storage. I have Nesticle NES emulator for DOS running under it just fine. I've gotten DOS Sierra games to run with sound and even old Tandy color and sound games running under it. It will also let you create home screen shortcuts to your DOS apps. It is highly customizable, but a prior knowledge of DosBox on PC really helps when getting into the advanced features.
The best dosbox on the play store. Amazing amount if customisation for controls and ways to organise your game library. Was able to get alot of the best old dos games playing on my phone. Would give 5 stars if i could play fallout with absolute mouse. Playing ANY game with the mouse cursor offset is just plain weird and is no fun. So far most games I have wanted to play have emulated the mouse ok, RTS games like C&C and Dune2. Tried the free trial and then got the paid version. well worth it!
This is pretty amazing! Love it! It has tons of customization/tweaking options for stuff like how the mouse handles. You can even add custom virtual buttons to the screen, so you're able to e.g. switch between relative and absolute mouse modes on the fly - which works wonders in a game like C&c. I am very impressed with this app, couldn't recommend it stronger if you're into a bit of old school gaming on your tablet! Great work, devs!
Nice and always updated, but more difficult to get help to set up than Dosbox Turbo. Most tutorials, like fallout 2 setup, are for Dosbox Turbo, and the official YouTube tutorials are not for GOG versions of games. Just a matter of time till Magic DosBox will be a replacement since it's still being updated. It just need easier tutorials and easier UI. Fow now, I recommend DosBox turbo for beginner/intermediate users. Only use this if you're familiar with dos emulators and scripting.
This is an incredible little app. It took me a little bit of playing with to figure out the installation of games and it takes a little bit of tweaking on cpu cycle for most games to get them to slow down, but I recommend you start with Oregon T. Super easy to install and tweak via "expert" config. Gonna see if I can get my gamepad mapped up and really start to have fun. BIG thank you to the developers and people who support them. Buy this now. You'll b happy with it.
What a great app. The customization is great and pretty straightforward. Its great to be able to setup your games list and have one tap to launch a game plus still have the functionality of dosbox. If you want to play dos games on your phone or tablet this is the way to do it.
Fantastic mobile DOS emulator, loaded with user-friendly features like shortcuts to launch games quickly and mapping keyboard and mouse inputs to controller buttons for a more comfortable experience. Mouse can also be mapped to the thumbstick or touch screen inputs. Works well sideloaded to FireTV, as well.
Loved the free version so much I thought it only fair to get the paid version to thank the developer. Has brought so many classics from my youth back to life (the 3 oldest x-com games in particular). Bit of setup & tweaking required but once done I can't fault this app 👍
The strategies works well, but the mouse emulation for such a game like Tyrian 2000 is terrible. There is a game open Tyrian in the app store. It would be nice if the magicbox could use their methode to use your finger as a mouse. + the first person shooters like heretic, or hexen or doom or whatever isn't too good as well. The update of the emulated joystick is needed. And a gamepad emulation for games like postal would be nice. It could work for the fps games as well.
Purchased this app after finding that a lot of my old favorite MS-DOS CD-ROM based games run fairly well or at least acceptably well under the free version. Unfortunately you cannot mount and swap multiple floppy images durning run, rendering multi-diskette installations impossible. It is also still actively updated.
Best dosbox app on android in my opinion. Works perfect on my s21 snap dragon using android 11. I can use windows 95 and also play classic dos games from when I was a kid. Love the widgets and all the control options makes this worth every penny.
Though I am new to this command prompt stuff and currently experiencing difficulty installing games, this is perfect! I hope to learn more from this and I definitely support the app. From what I can see, customer support is awesome compared to Dosbox Turbo's. Keep it up!
First of all, thank you for this app. I really enjoy playing my old DOS games on Android and the range of customization is amazing. Also, the devs are very very responsive. Issue with saving preferences was fixed within 2 hours of sending them an email. Love this app!
Worth every penny! Runs dos native games perfectly, a little sound chop but by no means a deal breaker. Be aware tho...this emulator ONLY runs DOS native games, so you may have some issues finding games that don't run Win95 native, so hunting for a compatible game is the entire battle. Great job devs, 2 enthusiastic thumbs up!!!
Phenomenal!! I really love using this app, I play daggerfall on it and it is wonderful. Android 11 seems to have had a massive impact on load times but I'm sure it will all be good and I love this app very much. Thank you for your reply, you are doing an amazing job. Most of us had to manually install games the hard way before Magic Dosbox came along so don't sweat it 😊 We are a patient bunch 😂
This is amazing. I'm able to play some fantastic older games very smoothly on my phone. Currently enjoying steel panthers series. The customizable shortcuts are a what makes this a truly stunning application with limitless possibilities.
The best DOSBox app for Android. Very stable, fast and customizable. The developer really cares about his app - he fixed the bug with the physical mouse that I faced, even despite the fact that I have been used the free version. Buy it if you need a DOSBox, it's worth it.
Awesome app . But my only issue is finding a easy way like there is with Fallout to just get the Fallout2.7z file like you can with fallout to get the whole disc file with out needing windows 95 to be emulated in Magic Dos Box. Iv searched all over. An im limited to a phone getting these pc games
Absolutely superb. Makes other dosbox apps look ridiculous. Incredible performance, super friendly config, but most importantly, the interface design mode makes absolutely any old dos game playable on a phone. This app is worth every penny and more.
By far the best DOSBox you can have on Android. I will never understand how or why DOSBox Turbo is the one with more recommendations on the internet than this one. Magic It's way more intuitive to set up on both mobile and TV platforms, it supports all input methods including touch, mouse, keyboard and gamepads and it allows you to create custom layouts for each game that you can transfer between devices. It's also by far the fastest DOSBox Android build that I've tried. Oh, and did I mention the support for this app is great? Well, it is - the developer really seems to care. Highly recommended!
