Category : Events
The App makes joining events and finding opponents rather easy, Though I am disappointed that you can't look at your previous events once they've ended. A simple text file stored on the phone would be adequate for the job. I hope they add this soon.
The concept is good. But there's some points that need work. Like searching for creature subtype: I cannot type in the subtype directly, so all I can do is wait for the app to try to load the long subtypes list. Which might or might not happen before I just give up on using the app to find a card.
App keeps crashing when I try to select certain archetypes in the search bar of the advanced search option. This keeps happening 9/10 times I want to use the app. I would prefer to use the online card library through wizards but they keeps stopping me to promote the companion app. Can someone please fix this issue, it is really annoying and inconvenient.
Doesn't check my saved passwords. I would update the password, use a strong recommended password, and let Google save it but when opening the app, it wasn't checking for that password. I had to make a simple password that upon entering, Google saved for me and then used
Very handy, although the advanced card search UI isn't the most intuitive and the app hasn't been updated since I've started using it 2 months ago even though there are issues the devs must be aware of. - The NEO set has been out for 2 weeks and it still hasn't been added. - Double faced cards with alternate art will show 2 different versions of the front face, rather than the front and back. - Some cards are shown as random art cards in search results rather than their actual card.
Playing In a tournament our aponant marked themselves as the winner when we beat them, all they had to do was get to their phone first. We spoke to the store owner and he couldn't change the score on his end so we were SOL. What a stupid system, a 3 year old could see how easily abused this system of reporting your own wins and losses could be, how did wizards ever think the was a good idea? And to make it so that the tournament organiser can't make score corrections? Rediculas. Zero stars.
This app is needed for magic events but i left a bad review because the card database side is trash. Look for a 2 drop and it shows cards that are 5 or 6 mana
I thought the main purpose of this app was to look up cards, at least when ever I search cards online it asks me to download this app and try mobile, but it's very subpar and anal-retentive. Aside from that my main beef is with the flip sides cards. I go to "flip" the card and it shows me and alternate art most the time instead of the flip side. Hard to know what the card does when the good half is not available. Actually I remembered something that makes me want to lower my score even more.
Need historical statistics. You cant go back and edit rounds. Alot of missing functions and frustrating interface.
rubbish app, hardly works. if you start a tourney as a shop, every time you leave the screen the timer resets on tournaments. it says start round 2 when you are in round 2 when it means start round 3. the player limit affects the number of games. when we had 16 players it was forcing 4 rounds which is annoying. why not have a preset box so we can set how many rounds. app needs a lot of work.
The perfect way to play your magic tournaments! Easy to use and more accurate than shouting your record at the tournament official from across the room.
Might be useful if it doesn't always log me out all the time. I try and log into the app hundreds of times and it won't let me log in. Yes, I have changed my password and have done all that I could to get in this lousy app. Now I can't play Magic at my local games store thanks to this stupid app. This is because this app is REQUIRED if you want to play against other people. Seriously Wizards of the Coast, fix your apps!
needs work, but it's a good start. app crashes often, events cant be run from phone alone. timer is weird. card database search needs work as well
This app struggles to run a small FNM and is completely useless at large events. Wizards needs to improve this app if they want to keep forcing stores to use it for events.
DO NOT INSTALL. Absolutely no useful features. Bugko, TappedOut and TopDecked apps are, even at a glance, have 100 times more functionality than this app. This app is quite literally the most useless MTG app I have ever encountered. Uninstalled due to no useful purpose of the app. You cannot store collections, deck lists, wish lists. It has nothing actually useful to a player that the other apps have. And they have better and more attractive UI's.
Application honestly needs work. lots of things like standings over the year etc whatever. Can't find your win and loss records! Time to spend some quality time working on the application!
constantly freezes, crashes, needing to rejoin lobbies, etc. the only way this app could be worse if it doesn't work at all, and at that point it might be an improvement
Takes an unreasonably long time to load. The card database often has outdated Oracle text, e.g. older cards that should say "any target" or "mill" don't. This makes it unusable as an official source for Oracle text - I have to fall back on Gatherer instead. This is especially galling as Gatherer itself claims the app is better, but obviously it's not. Even worse, Gatherer tells me to use the app every time I visit it - it should remember that I told it I don't want to use the app.
The ability to host and join events is neat, but needs to be fleshed out a bit more for LGS tie in (especially now that this could be the only way an LGS can "host" an event for a good while). This would get a 5 if it could check the gatherer at any time to look up rulings (edit these have been added, but could still use some improvements)
It functions. Poorly. (REALLY NEEDS Rounds editing like Event Reporter had....Seriously.... just bring back the ER.)
Terrible UX. Hard to use, poor messaging like 'ha, you have been defeated'. No functionality that a player actually wants. Serves to help Wizards of the coast rather than players
It says Gatherer works better in the app... it doesn't. There is not visible way to change language on cards, and the rest of the search function seems lacking. For example I cannot click on the set of a card and get taken to that entire set, like I can on the website. Good for getting high def pictures of the cards but god there's a lot of hoops to jump through. Also it's slower than a snail dipped in mud with a ten ton weight attached to its shell
The gatherer website recommended I download this, because apparently it's better? Yeah, that's simply not true. The display is very cluttered, search interface is unintuitive, critical search features such as sort order are completely absent, and for some reason when I search a rules text, it doesn't find all the cards with that text. TL;DR, just use the gatherer.
The card search feature could go one step further and provide auto fill or drop-down options. To make things worse, the application doesn't even have the set released yesterday. Other sites have the new set and a better UI and experience. As it is, I feel like the best thing this app will ever be used for is the tournament features, but many will opt to use additional apps for their better features or not use this one at all.
It is a decent searching app even though some information, variaty of skins (front of cards) is either missing, displayed wrong on search screen or simply not there at all. Also the main feature that bothers me is that in advanced search, sets search doesnt always allow you to write and choose set as it simply doesn't drop down or function properly. Sad, as this is from the Magic developers and the main app doesn't function on it's fullest.
Only supports four player pods in Commander. That makes you completely useless for most of our games.
After using this for a while, I have decided to downgrade my rating to 1 star until a number of card search issues are fixed. Problems: exact phrase searching just does not work, but it works great on the gatherer website. Sorting by mana cost does not work. Many dual sided cards do not show their backside, or the backside is wrong. Filtering by exact color does not work. IS+OR filtering does not work. The website CONSTANTLY demands you use the app. Fix the app, or quiet the site!
