magicApp Calling & Messaging

I gave this 3 stars because while you are in the app, it works excellently. If you get out and open another app, the other person cannot hear you. Also if you log into another device, you get kicked out almost instantly. I have had Magic Jack for over 10 years. The app used to be way better. They should atleast allow you to store your password so that you don't have to enter it each time. If app sharing between family members is a big concern, they can block sharing between countries.

I have used this app for abou 10 years and serves its purpise for basic text and calls. However the latest update is worse than previous version. Everytime you exit the app, you have to wait for slow startup time. And even texting is very slow! There is about a 2 second lag before i can see what i actually am writing. To remedy this, i write in a note app then copy it to this app to avoid the wait

Needs work, I'll start by listing the issues 1) the start up screen is very annoying, the app displays the apps logo everytime you open magicapp. 2) It is not easy to see what your plan is or when your plan expires, for example I purchased the 4.99 plan then suddenly without warning I was unable to receive calls, all were directed to vm, this error cost me a job🤬, very bare basic interface. 3) the service let me down when I needed it the most... For work 🤬. It's sad that this can't be better

Extremely buggy app that needs serious attention from the developers. Often when a call comes through there is no way to answer it. You either just hear the phone ring without any info popping up or if the call info does pop up it won't allow you to answer. Sometimes calls will come through on the hard wired phone but not the cell phone app. Texting works most of the time but occasionally it's hit or miss. Decent home phone service and a great concept but the mobile app sadly isn't reliable.

May 24, 2022 Please DO NOT BUY majicjack. I have been using it for a long time and recently it became very bad. If you get a technical issue, there's NO SUPPORT. AVOID AS MUCH AS YOU CAN WITH MAGICJACK. There are other oip apps that are better options. I am very disappointed with MagicJack because pure capitalist that wants only your money.

It's been ok, does the job but nothing fancy. Would be nice if voice mails loaded into the app instead of having to call. Speaking of which, for some reason recently calls on the app starting having the vibrate go off twice every two seconds during the call. Super annoying.

Ok, I have used MJ for almost as long as it has existed. My first time was in October of 2009. Now I am looking at a help and learning center page, and it's telling me I can get a MagicApp Paid App subscription. I cannot find it anywhere. I'm not looking for it any more. Waste of time. This service has disintegrated over time. I can no longer see my entire call history, which I needed. My messages no longer seem to be there. I'm just going to pay for my yearly subscription and hope this stuff gets better. I still sound like I'm in a barrel but ok. I use it for verifications and such, more than talking.

This app is a waste of my time and money. The app won't even allow me to make or receive calls unless I am next to my at home Wi-Fi versus working with my phones Wi-Fi. I got the app so I can make calls as a second number, I have called customer service to see why it does not work and was walked through 30 minutes of blah. blah, blah only for the app to still not work properly.

Doesn't always ring on the app. App closes without notice. Unable to get phone calls until someone complains to me, then I have to go in the app and fix whatever you guys blocked. I don't have time to keep updating this app. Update 13Apr22: now the text messages are not coming through. Ugh!

I waited 1.5 years before reviewing. Can say I absolutely love this app. Not sure why I waited to download as have had MJ in my home for years. The benefits of this app that have helped me tremendously are . . . 1) I can get text messages on my home phone (thru the app on my cell phone). So many people didn't understand that it was a home tel #, so they'd send text msg that I never got. I guess everyone assumes every # is a cell # ; )) 2) No more forwarding my home # to my cell # when I walk out the door. The app rings on my cell phone and I can answer no matter where I am. 3) Voicemails - access even when I'm away from home. 4) I love that the MJ app icon on the cell shows #'s as to how many calls/vm/texts I have. No more guessing if I missed a call/txt or msg if I was not paying attention to the cell phone or had to have it off for a meeting. All these are a HUGE improvement over just using the MJ on a home tele by itself. One thing I noticed is that if I have a voicemail (as shown on the app), it does not show up on my home phone. Yet, not a real problem as I always look at my cell phone anyway and the VM is accessible by either..

The only problem I have had is configuring my router for port forwarding. Other than that tis service has been good and certainly a.lot less expensive than cell service. The app is pretty reliable as well.

Occasional glitches, but clear calls vs. using phone attached to m.j. Update 3/2022 Frustrated by voice quality. People tell me bad echo on my line via android app. It also has a jingle playing in the background that I can't get rid of. Handset quality is not good. Quality diminished over time.

Great app to use to call friends and family in North America, no matter where you yourself might be. Just need internet, and the calls are all free after you pay for this service

They canceled my phone number after many years I had 30 days left to renew on the messages they put when I dial they said they sent me an email I even checked my spam folder never got it,they canceled my service 30 days early the app will NOT let me renew and they say that I can't get my phone number back! it took 2 days of calling, texting and chatting to get that answer, don't let these people take control of your phone number they don't know what the hell they're doing and they don't care.

DISORGANIZED FOREIGN COMPANY WITH DISHONESTY. They canceled my number, even when I followed the exact directions from customer service with how to renew. I was told that my case would be escalated to the top manager, but I only received general emails saying that they cannot help my case. They would not call me. I did nothing wrong. I have proof of timely payment, which I sent them. They will not take responsibility for their error. Very unprofessional. I had to painstaking switch numbers.

I have 6 phones but if they don't have a sim card they don't ring or flash on the screen, They don't display over apps or awaken any of them, and nobama phones make it all but impossible to even download,or display over anything period. Messengers are much better and free, no problems and video, and send pics no problem, magic jack was good in its day but way behind everyone that's free. I might come back if you catch up and drop the price. I can video call anyone, anywhere.in the world.free..

I was forced to upgrade to this version. After I upgraded, I couldn't login the new app. I called customer service about the issue, but a live person wasn't available. I was forwarded through several prompts to troubleshoot the issue. I've been using MagicJack consistently for 3 years. It is a now a piece of junk, cause I can no longer, talk/ text and have lost access to my contacts.

This app blocks other Voice over IP apps like MajickJack. Of course there is no message telling you its blocked, so you spend alot of time troubleshooting till you find you need to disable the app when you need to use other apps. Sometimes you get a slow server. So you end up disabling this app often...which means its practically worthless. :-(

Since I subscribed to this ap I cannot receive any call. I can make calls and send text messages but the ringer does not work whenever someone is trying to reach me. No good at all. Someone needs to do something about it. I paid for the service but is not getting anything out of it. Looks like I am going to have to cancel my subscription.

Incoming calls don't ring on my mobile phone. I end getting a voicemail telling me that I was contacted. It's lost business when I don't get the call. This needs Magic Jack customer service attention, otherwise I will be looking for another provider. P.S: I have been a magic jack customer for more than 10 years.

My magicjack app had been working great, but today it would not let me make any calls on my android phone. So I deleted the program from my phone thinking I could download it and hope the new download would take care of my problems. But cannot download it even though I have an active subscription that is good into 2023.

Paid for a subscription but they didn't give it to me now for 48 hours. No response from support either. Beware this app is not good.

I bought magic jack because optimum was charging over $20 a month & magicjack was 10$ for the 1st year & $50 for the next year. I just renewed my 2nd year. I have no complaints & it's soo much cheaper than cable. Only reason I needed a house phone is because my mom didn't like cellphones & she didn't get service in the house.

The service is not improving. My connection sounds good to me but callers always say it's a bad, statically connection and they can't hear me. Support has been no help. May be time to find an alternative.

Worst app ever I had seen . Unable to pick the calls.Voice quality is too bad. Really bad experience using this app

When I have an incoming phone call, there is no way to answer the call. It simply rings until the caller hangs up. DO NOT BUY THIS!

App works pretty decent for texting but on a wifi phone seems the app can't get calls and speaker phone doesn't work either. I'd suggest Google downloading an older apk and turn off updates.
