Playing Zen is great. You always get to win because if you ever get stuck without matching tiles they are re-sorted for you on the board. The adds do not interfere with the play of the game. I haven't seen a movie commercial for an add...just single image ads before you hit next level. This app does not have pop-up ads, even when the app is closed. Awesome.
Big, clear, beautiful tiles. Advances to next level with each new game but without getting too hard too quickly and with a different board each time. Automatic shuffle when there are no more matches, but there are no hints when you're stuck. I've only played in the "ZEN" mode, so far, so there is no timer, which I like when trying to relax. A landscape mode and choice of backgrounds would be nice, but, still, a VERY nice game of mahjong.
Cons: I like this game but there is no "undo" or "shuffle" button. If you don't have moves left you have to start the board over again. It would also be helpful if there was a way to get hints or at least let users know if there are no moves left. Some levels have less than a handful of moves and you have to start the board over after only matching 2-4 tiles. Pros: The Quest part is fun and the tile art changes as you progress and it's nice to see different art. I love that there aren't ads.
I haven't played Quest, but Zen is just what I was looking for. Minimal ads, and so far, just simple popups after each board is completed. Each board is actually solvable, and automatically shuffles when no moves are available. There's no time limit so I can set it down for a minute and resume play. Finally, someone has designed a fun, simplistic game with no big flashy graphics. Thank you!
Cute and simplistic. Would appreciate it if I didn't have to scroll to get back to the last level I completed in quest mode. I can see that's going to get annoying once I get past level 50. Gave it four stars because it's listed as "ad-free" but it advertises other games by the same company between levels. It's not intrusive, but the ads must be embedded because they don't go away when I turn off the WiFi.
Not only is this game ad free, it also has no in app purchases! Additionally, there are two game modes. Zen, which is a typical majong, no goals set, just play. Quest, the other option which has tasks and levels to complete. The graphics are fantastic and the tiles are very nicely done. All in all, a great gaming experience!
Works on my old Note 8. No problems. Didn't get any ads during play. I'm not against ads... as long as they're like between games or levels. It's when they go off in the middle of a game that they become too much. So at least while playing what I assume is a complete 1st round, which had some 4-5 levels, each of a bit more increasing difficulty, there were no interrupting & thus, annoying ads.
The tile graphics are not very good and cannot be switched. Colourful and stylish, for sure, but are actually an annoyance. This wouldn't be an issue, but at quest level 52, the colours go neon and the tiles are fruit. It's too much. Rename the App to "Colourful Mahjong" and I couldn't find a fault. Relatively good/simple interface and not advertisement heavy at all.
Loved it while it lasted. Quest only goes to 200. Now what? My other complaints are- it doesn't tell you when there are no more moves, you just have to determine that on your own. No undo option. And when returning to quest you had to scroll to where you left off, it didn't just put you there. But there were very limited ads and I enjoyed the tile changes, only wish there had been more.
keeps your mind alert and constantly thinking, especially when you challenge yourself to become quicker at solving the puzzle, it makes you pay attention, remember, think about your move, and which tile to click on in order to solve the whole puzzle quickly to get to the next one that will be harder. I love it!!!! Every Senior persons should play this game at least twice a day ... guaranteed to keep your mind alert, and puzzle games have been known in medical fields to detour Alzheimer, Demientia
I play this game pretty much every day. The game gets exponentially more and more challenging as the levels progress. There is a surprising amount of strategy to employ to complete more complex levels. It has very nice graphics...no ads and is playable with or without being online. A very good combination of relaxation and exercise for the mind. Highly recommended.
Pretty doggone good! Best part is that it's straight to the point; no BS load screens, no fluffy animations, no nonsensical permission requests. Very quick Game starts up very quickly. Game is barebones and that's awesome. There are some pretty backgrounds. Plenty of tile sets are available and gets progressively more difficult.
Great stress reliever! This game rarely lets you lose, so while it does require brain-power, in the end they are quick feel-good Wins! This game is a terrific way to get relaxed without being zombied-out, and it sharpens the mind. Take a 15-minute break from any intensive project to play & chill, and then jump back into the project all refreshed, more astute, and sharper mentally than when you left it!
Difficult to see which tiles are available for possible matching. However, the game is enjoyable and captivating. I just wish the drop down menu bar wouldn't display EVERYTIME a tile is pressed a little off center. Still, definately worth installing... and enjoying.
I would have given this a five star rating, but I took off a star because I need the sounds to be off, but everytime I turn them off, they are back on again the next time I open the game. This is annoying because not only do I play the game in places where the sound MUST be off, but I also feel that if I shut the sound off, then that decision should be honored and locked in permanently, unless I change my mind. Fix that issue and I will give the game a five.
I like how the game seems to increase in difficulty as you play it more. I enjoy the varied layouts. I do dispise the dropdown menu activation by touching the non game area. It happens way too easy and often. Z menue icon would be welcome as a better method.
Rating Updated 2019-05-15: Update 2019-06-24 did all of the puzzles. PLEASE MAKE MORE. Giving you 6 stars. Gameplay, appearance, no ads... everything is excellent. 3 things to fix for a 7 star rating: 1. When the tiles are shuffled in Zen Mode, maybe an "ok" button would be nice? You know...for user transition experience... 2. Allow the user to select from a stock of tile layouts. ...and 3. Need more levels. But I must say...VERY well done game! I wish all games were done as well as this game.
Works Howard supposed to though when you tap the screen the menu will pop up and that's quite annoying not to mention when you mute the sounds when you exit the app they do not stay but that doesn't take away from the overall experience. Would download again!
On the quest option, would be good to know when there are no more moves and would be nice to have a message or fireworks when all levels have been completed, and the option to reset the levels to play again. Apart from that the game is good
I love this version because the ads aren't videos and they are easy to just skip past, gameplay is super simple and easy. There isn't time limits which some may find not to their liking but I really like it. Overall it's great and fun.
Been searching for a good mahjong game for elders, and this one is decent. Not too complex. Also not ad-filled as others. Visually the depth can be a bit tricky, and the lack of a reshuffle like others have stated can be a little annoying. It is ok though.
Okay version of Mahjong, but not the best one I've played. In the Zen game, tiles automatically rearrange if there are no moves left, but they don't rearrange in Quest. Both games should have a shuffle button and a hint button. On the positive, it is addicting.
Very nice for a beginner, love difficult one's, teaches one patience and can play anywhere. if one can't finish a level one is on, then just lock the phone, put into bag and carry on later. Nice for people that experience insomnia. Mahjong is THE game for people that don't like children's games.
No ads to distract me, in ap purchases to tempt me. I really like the progressive levels. It takes up very little space. Simple and fun. Clear graphics. No complicated buttons or instructions.
I tried a few different apps and this is the one I am most happy with. The cards change based on level and the game runs well. My only complaint is that the map always starts at the bottom, it would be so much better if it started on the level I'm on so I don't have to scroll up every time.
Drop down menu at top opens too easily causing a complete restart for me . I play fast and having all my progress erased is very annoying. Perhaps a button in the corner to actuate the menu. Other than that I'm having great fun playing.
Thanks for fixing the zen mode. But the quest mode still needs work. ( got stuck 3 time in a single level. no matching pair available. imagine the pain of playing a single level 3 time from the beginning & still no be successful to solve.)
Game starts fairly easy and advances you through to the next level , each a little more difficult. The game works well for me, there's just one small detail that I forgot to mention, there are no hints, no back button, no reshuffle. You have to very sure of what your matches are or the game ends and you have to redo the puzzle. Ads are extremely minimal!
