Nice to find an app that is not solitaire Mah jong. It does assume that you know the rules, there are no directions in English. I personally find that very challenging, because it's using different rules than the ones I learned.
Not bad, some sound would be nice, and the english needs a lot of work, but the game works well.
The mahjong is alright, but umm, english is bad. The mechanics, or the gameplay is bad. The idea is good but didnt execute it well.
Enjoyable, BUT heavily stacked against you, so you seldom win. One of few "real" games of Mahjong
I really enjoy this app, except for a single flaw in that it doesn't always recognize winning hands and will occasionally force you into furitan instead of winning. Aside from that 1 bug, its amazing all around.
I played the Chinese mahjong. I don't remember having to have required pieces in order to win. Maybe I played it wrong or the rules are just different for Japanese version
You can play Japanese/richi mahjong against ai. That's what I use it for and it works flawlessly. I haven't noticed any of the winning hand recognition problems others have mentioned so I would be curious for examples of that.
Despite some of the documentation being in Japanese, I find this to be one of the best apps if you want to learn riichi mahjong.
The game is good, but the interface needs some work. Still the best real mahjong game i could find :)
Poorly written. winning hands are for some reason not considered winning. Ai is lacking and GUI needs serious improvement. Uninstalled.
This is the classic mahjong game I first played when I was in high school. It's a very light game with only little bugs so it gives good experience of mahjong playing. Over 7 years I keep playing mahjong on this app, I love it.
Great app if tou want to play japanese mahjong. For those who said you sometimes cant win a hand, its not a bug. In japanes mahjong you need at least one yaku in order to win. Check on the rule from wiki or anywhere for a list of yaku
Updated review. There have been more riichi mahjong games in recent months, but I still feel this one is the best. Functionality is limited by comparison, but it has the fewest bugs and not the worst graphics either.
Interface could use some work. Maybe use higher resolution images. And the translation could use some work.
but agreed there are problems with the winning hand recognition
Awesome for playing but it feels a bit incomplete
Read the Bio for Eiko and Maiko. That just made it for me!
Had no issues recognizing winning hands as long as you actually have a winning hand
This game has the best AI player that makes this game great
All the players are kawaii and the game is just right!
Confused on how to play and start
No others are necessary
Best mahjong Ive seen on the market thats free. But I'd like see animations or indications for the computers moves, skipping them makes it abit hard to tell what happened
Truly excellent, in depth mahjong game. It has lots of game modes, most of which can help you to improve your skills. Wish it had more english though.
Thank you for making my favorite app!
Out of all the Mahjong apps I've played, this is the best. A few things that bug me though is the english translations. RDY should just be left a RIICHI, and SELF I think should be left a TSUMO. Or at least make an option of whether or not people want eng. translations. One more thing is, this version doesn't seem to have the Red 5. If you could add that in I'd appreciate it ^_^
works and plays well. sadly I don't know how to include red 5 dora tiles in the game. & the ai appears to not play defensively when you declare riichi.
the best Japanese mahjong app, simple and easy to use. only minor bugs is some of the stuff is untraslated and the 2 player network doesn't work. edit: figured out how to use Bluetooth network, now i can play with family :)
