Maine public is great, the app.... not so much. It doesn't sort news stories consistently, showing "highlights" for days sometimes. Often shows long strings of podcasts in the news portion. The app crashes fairly often, and doesn't refresh the news feed without a full exit and restart, which it asks if you're sure you want to do. It doesn't have helpful features, like predownloading stories for viewing offline. And it's not layed out well in landscape, which it might not even support.
Wonderful until very late at night, in the wee hours of the morning when the signal seems to cut out.
Hit and miss. Stream, skips a bit. But I can't do without.
Every few minutes, the audio drops off for about 6 seconds. Of course it usually happens just as something important is being said. No, it doesn't pause the stream, it just silences it. No one else seems to suffer from this, so please fix it. This is an essential service.
Usually the app works quite well, aside from having to restart it every day or so in order to access the on-demand features. However, currently there is an issue where none of the on-demand programs have updated since May 27th. I'm curious when functionality will be restored. Thanks
The app often stops working. It is frustrating to have the news stories dropped in that manner. 5 months after posting this review, the performance of the app is unchanged. It will not work, even if I close out of it and relaunch it.
I love NPR. I flippin hate this app. It interrupts, pauses, shuts down at will. Very very unreliable. I have very strong internet and no other apps running, but it's still stops in mid-sentence for a good 5 seconds. So so obnoxious!
Since the most recent update, alarm function doesnt work. Tried on 4 devices running Android 7,8, and 9. Alarm turns on, then off by itself, or stays on, but at the target time, nothing happens.
The only problem I have with this app is that the audio often stops when my screen turns off, and starts up again when I turn it back on. Makes walking and listening very frustrating.
It keeps cutting out. I become frustrated as and just tune in Bbc3 or NY. It has ever worked well. Now a month or two later the same thing . Doesn't work.
I have been working with this App for a day now, under the promise from broadcasters, that I would be able to have LIVE RADIO BROADCAST. There is NO live radio broadcast. AT ALL. Unless I want classical. I do not. I WANT MPBN!!! A.k.a. NPR on my radio! 91.3 and 90.5! I commute daily from my house to Camden and have about 15 minutes before I lose my station. I get it back just in time to park my car. Am I missing something? FYI: The NPR ONE app is just as much nonsense.
I had been listening through the website, and was thrilled to find all of the extras on the app! One of the better app experieces I've has thus far.
Classical is amazing! I've switched from the stations on streaming services and I will never go back!
Unstable with regular drop out and stutter. Turns off if screen is used inside another app that overlays the play button.
Maine Public Classical's programming is wonderfully varied and fresh, and the app lets me feel connected to beautiful Maine and its good people wherever I go.
I have to use this app to be able to access mpbn but it is difficult to get it to work and stops streaming randomly
I rely on this for my news. Sometimes spotty reception in the hills and dales near my home. But when I can connect, I am informed and entertained.
Excellent app ... skip the hysteria and tune in to factual info presented in a calm, straightforward manner.

Easy to use app, allows me to hear my favorite NPR radio programs when I'm not near a radio.
I like that it links to my pixel Discoveries page so i can get quick news stories. It's very user friendly.
