ETA: Thanks Roman, that works. !! I am giving 5 stars because I love the look, feel and layout of this app 10 times better than the original facebook app and all of this with very light permissions.That being said, I'm still experiencing a slight bug being able to click on my notifications. The notification will turn blue when I tap it, but it doesn't always take me to the status. Some notifications work perfectly, others don't. But I'm confident this will get fixed because the app being so good.
One of the best alternative FB apps. No adverts, and messages still works. I like the ability to copy text, and the option to download videos. It's the fastest loading FB, from my experience (despite what Folio says...). My only real issue is that videos often take ages to start. The same video loads instantly in other FB apps.
Great app. Love being able to access all my socials from a single app. Some great features that aren't available in the official app. Had an issue with the plus version not showing up in my library after purchasing, so I emailed the developer and he got back to me right away, got a refund within 24 hours. And bought the plus version again. Well done.
Lots of good filtering options (hide ads, hide suggestions, etc) When switching networks, the first page that loads has a navigation bar at the bottom. This bar disappears as soon as you navigate somewhere. Often I'll need to use "Back" several times before I can check notifications, return home, etc. It would be really nice if the navigation bar was persistent. I receive a lot of duplicate Android notifications of Facebook actions (someone liked a comment, etc), even after clearing them on facebook. I've just turned off the notification feature for now.
Great app! It's fast and more responsive than other wrappers. REQUEST: When sharing an image (sharing externally), can you please share it without saving it in my gallery? Because other wrappers can do that. One more thing is that when I am using 4g connection, sometimes it connects but most of the time it doesn't, it says "can't connect to the internet". Can you please improve the connection reliability of the app. I'll give you 5 stars if this is solved.
Come back! :( I noticed that you're hard to find on the Play store now and haven't updated in a while. Tonight media abruptly stopped displaying in both Facebook and in both versions of Messenger, including emojis. This is the best wrapper app I've tried and I really don't want to have to stop using it.
Fantastic app, not perfect but working properly. A little slower than FB but rich in functionality (can choose image by folder when commenting, unlike a certain official apps). If only it can go live or view live at least; then it's greater than the official app. And also, if only when you started the apps, there's an option to show something like a homepage instead certain social media. Also there, no maki option when opening facebook. If i wanted to change setting, i must navigate to Twitter.
For some reason it doesn't show in Google play search results. After clicking on any posts in pinterest or Instagram's explore feed it takes me to the first post which is very annoying other than that it's a great application. Also if all different theming schemes can be properly assigned into one place it would improve the experience. Thanks
I am trying out this version because I am having some issues with the free version, and hoped that the paid version would be better. My first issue is that the installer didn't check to see if I had a version of Maki installed and import my logins and settings, or install over the other version as an upgrade. Now I have to go digging through the menus configuring and log into each service one at a time.
used many facebook apps before. maki is incredibly fast. love it. would be perfect if it support post text selection (Fixed, Wonderful ! thank you). little suggestion. I'm not a multi social network user. but I think the button/method to switch between them could be improved. button on far far top left is not quite friendly for large screen devices
Great little app, and an active and problem solving developer. Won't be using the official fb app ever again. I voted 4 stars as there is still work to be done. Switching between profiles commonly forgets passwords so you have to have them at hand. Clicking on 'see more' on someone's long post doesn't show the full post. Fblive videos don't play. And the notification symbol remains as if I have no notifications, but when I tap it I see that I have plenty. Happily take it to 5 stars if fixed.
Ad blocking worked in the beginning ie just 1 ad for an entire week of usage. But from the moment I accidentally clicked on that 1 ad, all the other sponsored ads started appearing all over the place. The only reason I got this was the fact that it could block ads. Disappointing. Hope this can be resolved soon
It's been really great until recently when the Top Stories category in my Facebook News Feed has become very very slow to load. Sometimes takes 5 or even 10 minutes of a blank newsfeed while I wait for it to load. Would love to rate it 5 stars if that is fixed.
I've used Maki of and on for a while. It's not perfect but, and it is a relevant but, it's fast enough, competent enough and reliable enough to allow me to off load some very large sm apps and not miss them. The Twitter feed especially is excellent, better imo than the native app. Reddit, meh, but it works and Facebook does all that I need from it. It's better than it was, that's for sure, and I'm enjoying it far more than previously. Here's looking to a brighter future 😄
Good app, but needs more work. I don't use Facebook, per se, but I still check FB Messenger twice a week, so having Maki Plus comes in handy when I want to share a Facebook or FB Messenger video to Signal, Telegram, etc., or wish to download it to my phone to view off-line anytime. Regardless, in the FB Messenger mode, I want to be able to scroll more than a screen at a time without hitting "See Older Messages". Your app runs slow. Telegram has trouble displaying thumbnails. Please add Signal.
Update 30, Oct: app keeps crashing when tapping on any messages. Phone restart doesn't help. Update 23, Feb 2020: still showing wrong numbers of new messages in-app. Earlier: For some reason the message/notification counter keeps counting even after messages/notifications are read. Quite disturbing to click on the icons and then realise that there's nothing new.
Last update broke the tagging of friends in comments. Also, the new way Maki handles the opening of external links to browser is obnoxious. No, I never want to 'save the link in Firefox', I just want the link redirected NOW. It's why I clicked the link. If I want to save the link later AFTER I actually looked at the link, I Can do it. In Firefox. Also the pop-up saying 'Open now' is about 1.5 seconds. I've had to click links multiple times JUST to ACTUALLY get to what I want to see. Please fix!
I've tried a few different alternative Facebook apps and I'm really digging this one over all the others I've tried. The official app is a big battery hog, waste of space, and requires too many permissions. I like that I can just do your basic things without having to grant any permissions. The interface loads quickly and reliably too unlike some others I've tried.
after tried MAKI free version for a while, i was impressed with this app. so i decided to purchase this MAKI PLUS version immediately. the only problem (not really) for me is the Facebook news feed layout. it would be nice if the layout is rounded for each posting section. hope you can make this option in settings / make it default in the next update. very love this apps. 🥰
Hands down the best social media app I've used. Very non intrusive compared to the official apps. Nice to have all my social media in one place. It's not without its faults though. While the simple messanger works as intended it also restricts me from plastering mates with GIFs... The advanced messenger is buggy and slow. Video calling doesn't seem to work. I'm running it with the official "modded" ad free messenger makes for a great experience. AMOLED theme with dark mode messenger 👌
It's great that you can let the developer know about issues and he is responsive and works to help solve them. Sadly a few can't be changed as they are out of his control but it says a lot about his commitment to the app. Right now the last issue I have is that when I tag someone it duplicates a few letters in their name dropping the tag, not sure why yet.
I originally gave this app 5 stars, but then reduced it to 3 stars because the app would enter into an eternal loop of scrolling when I clicked on some Marketplace listings. Now I reduce the stars again to 1 because now the app force closes when I attempt to view my messages. It seems that the more the author works on the app the worse it gets. I can appreciate how difficult it is to develop an app like this, but it has become so buggy that I think it is time to look for an alternative app.
Let the notifications come with each sign of that particular notification. For Ex... If I have a notification of a friend request accepted. Let that sign appears with the notification. So it won't be a bell Icon for every notification. And moreover, it's a little bit slow.
I like having several of my social media sites grouped into 1 application. I feel the UI is be nice and clean. On occasion I have issues with some of the sites lagging a bit. Otherwise a really nice experience and look forward to its development.
App take a lot of time in opening any app even in fast connections not that much time but still you will definitely going to see it, one thing I am missing is autoplay videos on Facebook, Instagram and every time I have to tab to that play button just for opening the video and Instagram latest video session is also missing. Plz improve this things. Also it shows that i have logged in from windows 7 which i think is not pretty much safe
Only deterring factor for switching to Maki permanently is that pesky, eye-searing white splash screen that momentarily appears before landing on the news feed. This is especially annoying when using a dark theme and opening the app in a dark environment. Otherwise the app is awesome.
The app name suggests it has the FB Messenger in it. It doesn't (I know: Facebook regulations, etc.), So why not remove it from the title? It's a bit misleading this way. For the rest; nice app. Not very different from the original FB app, besides perhaps the download options. And a missing Messenger. (UPDATE: I've mailed you but you don't reply 😳)
This app has too many bugs and the features don't work all the time. I got repeats of the same post 3 times on Facebook for everything. The apps icon doesn't even show up as the new one it still shows the old one. I would change my reviews if features were perfected.
This app is great for the most part but there's 2 issues that keep it at 4 stars. First is the most recent newsfeed that refreshes and goes to the top after about 30 minutes. This could be a facebook issue. Secondly, if I share something in my feed via a message internally and try to go back to my most recent newsfeed where I left off, it goes back to the top of the feed. Frustrating to say the least. Other than that, all is good!
