MANI – Mobile Aided Note Identifier
denominations of Rs.10, Rs.20, Rs.50, Rs.100, Rs.200 Rs.500 and Rs.2000 have since been released. The Reserve Bank of India has been sensitive to the challenges faced by the visually challenged in conducting their day to day business with Indian banknotes. This application will aid the visually impaired to identify the denomination of Indian banknotes of Mahatma Gandhi Series and Mahatma Gandhi (New) series by capturing the image of the notes placed in front of rear mobile camera. The application will generate audio and non-sonic notification intimating the currency note denomination to the user.

It works well with all other notes except old ₹10 note, for some reason it says ₹5 note. I tested it with multiple ₹10 notes the result was the same. I even tried zooming in and out the distance no changes in result. Also the notes should be layed out straight. There shouldn't be any other notes below the note being identified. It hard to mark a score for reliability of the app. But if you can't trust anyone around you, then the app could be life saver.
What seems to be a great initiative, seems almost inpractical for regular daily usage for the blinds. As it seems to be a lot of effort for the person using it just to get the denomination from certain angles only. The app gives incorrect denominations & results when the notes are curved or placed at certain irregular angles. From a blind person perspective this is not a thing they would rely on. Instead I would recommend the BA's to involve people from the disabled community and develop acc.
Difficult to use. I tried to use and had problem in setting itself. Voice instructions and the selection of option could be made simple and easy to use. I'm a normal person finding it difficult. For visually challenged it would be still difficult. Please improve user experience.
Can't perform his work efficiently. I tried it many times; it cannot scan new as well as old currency. More work has to be done on the app. It also change the media volume automatically. As app consists of too many bugs which are to be resolved.😓
App is not running. Getting an error that it will not run on emulator or rooted device. FYI, my device is not rooted. I am using LG G6 on Android 8.1. I had built an app for the same purpose as my MCA final year project, however I was able to achieve 60-70% accuracy in practical situations and over 90% in under lab conditions. So I am really curious to check this app.
Awesome app for the visual and hearing impaired person. Normal user can feel some issue due to talk back and other settings, but the person, for whome this app is actually designed may have great experience using it. This app can solve their daily problems and make them feel no less then other humans.
Very disappointed.. The idea about the app is very good and really appreciable. But the app is not recognizing the currency correctly. Have tested with 10 rs and it was showing as 20 rs. Have tested with new 10rs note and same was done many times by placing in different angels and different conditions. But it has shown the correct result only once where the currency is displayed as 10 in numeric rest all angels with differnt language, it was displaying as 20. Please check and update
Good one recognizes the money correctly every time and in less time. Only thing through voice command we can't go to sub menu's. For example if i want tp go to Help and then Manual then this app should take me through voice command. By the way who developed this. I want to know just curious because i don't think RBI has a software development department. And does know which is real note and which is picture. Not sure why people complained. May be that was an older version.
Good application for visually impaired people however accuracy is a challenge. I scannned the TOI add that had advertised about MANI which has currency note and on projecting on 50 rs it tells 2000 in many attempt. Great effort and i appreciate taking another step to help visually impaired people to recognize the currency note and first versio is good and i think this need improvement to correctly identify false pasitive. Its not of any significant use of normal users who are not having any kind of abnormalities like visual or auditory impairment. So the normal guys do not download this application and increase just yhe number of fownloads of the application. The app stars with audio instructions and you font have any option to skip it.But after it finishes you will jave to mention your type of impairment out of 1 visual 2 auditory 3 none of the above. When you will chose none of the above you will be thrown out
Really useful application for the intended needy people. But the app needs to be more perfection. It identified wrongly of some few times. And same notes being identified differently at different times. Developers pls address these issues.
Camera cannot recognize the correct value of the note if not focused correctly. It is difficult for the persons with 100% vision loss. Please try to update the app to recognize the coins also.
The app has glitches. I used it to scan the notes purposely and it kept telling a ₹500 denomination as ₹50 for more than 4 times. I was shocked. Forget the counterfeit notes it is not telling the denomination correct. Needs a lot of corrections.
It is good for the persons unable to see and hear... But a problem is there does not check for duplicate notes as check the number of the note I have should a child Bank duplicate note of 2000 it should just 2000 in speaker.. Address am also for real.. I want to recommend that the app should be recognisable that to check whether the note is real or duplicate... That much only otherwise it's very good application... Thank you
Works fine but the UI is not that good. Needs a lot of improvement. To be beneficial for a visually or hearing impaired, it needs many improvements.
App needs to be modified . It is giving error outputs , when we try with two or more than two notes at a time. However it is perfectly satisfying when we operate with single note at a time.
A very good idea but needs improvement. When torch is on, the app reads a ₹10 note as ₹20, and when the torch is off, it reads the ₹10 note as ₹50!!! It is well thought out, and is user friendly but not at all accurate.
Average type of apps. it should detect at least for some basic elements generally found in duplicate currency as suspicious, even it may not actually declared as a duplicate or authenticed as original one. And the most dangerous thing is that it says any picture of the number which looks like a currency so it becomes useless app.
Nice App, very helpful. BUT i request you all please improve on voice recognition, it's very difficult to make the app understand that we are saying 1 or 2 or 3 . Also the time for user response i very less and app exists suddenly not enough time given to say input like 1,2 or 3. And Thanks for innovative solution for people. God bless you🙂👍
This application is very good especially for visually impaired users but the problem is that they can identify notes but not coins. Update my request to make it more user friendly.
Is not good enough, it's taken so long to respond when I scanned the money. I think this app need to development focus on the camera too guide for us visually impaired when we point in front of the camera.
MANI has stopped, after installing Repeatedly even after multiple times installed and uninstalled. same messages appeared after each tries. Unable to review in the scenario. Kindly revert with corrections
Scans note only obverse. not helpful for individuals with both visual and auditory impairment.people with difficulty in English and Hindi might have issues. old system for raised markers was much easier.
Great application for differently abled persons. I am very grateful for the developers of this app to think about the visually challenged and lack of hearing persons. Kudos team. Long live.
During installing a round shape(floating on my screen) may installed unknowningly which appears constantly on my screen. I couldn't move out this.... When I touch on this it's read my app and other applications.. Unnecessary.... I want to remove this... Pls help me out .....what is screen overlay???what do u mean by screen overlay detected?

My experience with this application is not good. It is not giving right and athauntic results. It's not working. It not gonna helpful for those visual impairment people and deferentially able people. Why I am talking about this because that application gave me 10 different results of same note (detected 20rs: results as 200, 2000, 50rs also for 10: 50rs) How can help those who are unable to see that (note) 💰.
Excellent work by RBI. It's really a laudable one. As said by others, I dont think that the sound is very high. I really liked the way it scans and gives the voice message.
Very user friendly app. It's good that for vibration and sound settings, the app overwrites the default vibration and sound settings so that it can provide the vibrational and voice output of the scanned currency.
Good initiative. But Need some improvements. 1) The sound dictation is really high... Even after reducing the volume, it's automatically getting increased as soon as we interact with the app in any way. So this needs to be fixed. 2) Its getting confused bw 10 & 100, 20 & 200 and 50 & 500. 3) And Think it should have a feature to deduct multiple notes at once... maybe upto 5-10 notes. It should tell the user what are all the denominations in that stack, total number of notes, summation, etc.,
